Walshy5 Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 I was just wondering if anyone knew whether or not since the prem was formed has anyone ever achived successive promotions from 3rd tier to prem in two seasons. I cant think of any.
lildave3 Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 Fulham? Watford? Not sure if these did it, but it rings a bell.
dandannieldanok Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 Man City I think did it, although not entirely sure.
Tony Pine Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 Did Wigan? hull no wigan i thought did. they didn't
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 Did Wigan? Pretty sure they did it in 3 rather than back to back. City are the only ones I can think of, though they went straight back down, then went up again and have stayed there.
MauriceJobson Posted 1 March 2010 Posted 1 March 2010 Watford were promoted from "league one" 97-98, they then won the 98-99 "championship" play offs .
Walshy5 Posted 2 March 2010 Author Posted 2 March 2010 Watford were promoted from "league one" 97-98, they then won the 98-99 "championship" play offs . I didnt realise that. As for man city I thought they spent 2 years in the championship (or div 1 as it was then) could be wrong though.
Corky Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I didnt realise that. As for man city I thought they spent 2 years in the championship (or div 1 as it was then) could be wrong though. No, promoted from Division Two in 1998/99 then up from the First Division in 1999/2000.
Guest Bilo Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 So would we have an Arab billionaire sniffing around us if we got promoted this season a la Man City?
DeclanMC Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 So would we have an Arab billionaire sniffing around us if we got promoted this season a la Man City? Probably something like Munto Finance I would have thought
purpleronnie Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I think wimbledon went to the 4th division to first division in 4 years....but I could be wrong.
shen Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I think wimbledon went to the 4th division to first division in 4 years....but I could be wrong. They did. Promotion from the Second Division/Championship took two attempts though.
davieG Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I think wimbledon went to the 4th division to first division in 4 years....but I could be wrong. So did Northampton.
CosbehFox Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I know Northampton did it. Swansea managed 3 promotions in 4 years and finished 6th in the top flight. Then came down equally as quick...3 relegations in 4 seasons!!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Man City 1998-2000. My mate still talks about this tries to give me the dvd of season 98/99 highlights.

bluebeau Posted 3 March 2010 Posted 3 March 2010 So did Northampton. And I'm pretty sure they went crashing back down from 1st division to 4th division in successive seasons?
CosbehFox Posted 3 March 2010 Posted 3 March 2010 My mate still talks about this tries to give me the dvd of season 98/99 highlights. So does mine. Sat and watched it with him before City's first game at Eastlands....we won 3-0! And I'm pretty sure they went crashing back down from 1st division to 4th division in successive seasons? 3 relegations in 4 seasons.
