This close to the end of the season I thought I'd start these polls to see who the forum thinks are the player and young player of the season

I've limited the options to people that have played most of our games this season.

Weale, Hobbs. Hobbs nearly claims both, but I think Weale's consistency between the sticks is probably the single most important factor in our play-off position. The back four have had a series of enforced changes this season, but the presence of Weale behind them has been immense.

Hobbs' development as a professional footballer since he joined us has been nothing short of amazing, although Morrison probably runs him close in terms of development. But when Hobbs got handed the captain's arm-band when Oakley went off a couple of games ago (did anyone notice who took it last night once Oaks went off?) it underlined how much maturity Pearson sees in Hobbs at the moment. He thrives on adversity, looks if anything stronger when asked to be 'senior pro at the back' in the absence of Wayne Brown, and covered well for some of McGivern's weaknesses last night, switching in and out to help McGivern cope with a relentless Reading right-wing strategy.

Between them they demonstrate the ability of our current backroom staff, picking up cast-offs and reserves from other teams and bringing them on superbly. Now, who does that remind you of?

Hobbs took it again last night, think order of preference for NP is Oakley, Howard, Brown, Hobbs.

IIRC Hobbs took it once or twice last season too

At the beginning of the season Hobbs was gash - inconsistent, low on confidence and being roundly slated by everyone on the board. I accept that he has had a purple patch of late - but enough to make him POTS? Nah. One player excelled way above expectations of many right from the off: Mr. M. Fyatt.

Think about it... how can you give the awards like that? If you think Hobbs is player of the season how can he not also be young player of the season.

Weale + Hobbs...... though I felt Berner and Waghorn have both been great also but not 'immense' unlike Chris and Jack.

Can a player win both player and young player of the year? Seems odd if he can...

Anyway, I went for Hobbs as player of the year and Waghorn as young player. :)

Weale has been Mr Dependable and has been an excellent signing from the word go. How Bristol City must regret letting him go for nothing.

Hobbs the same but as Daggers rightly said, he didn't have a great start to the season so just misses out on the main award. Still going to give him the Young Player award though because he has been truly excellent in 2010.

Fryatt is being criminally underrated here to be honest.
