Daggers Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 He only takes orders from Lisa! I'll acknowledge his posts when and only when she tells me to.
Collymore Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 It is ridiculous that we can't recall him and him if we could I’d suggest we should do in an instance. I know recalling him wouldn't be good for future business of DJ Campbell as a player, but the premiership is the ultimate business target, not losing a potential sale of DJ. The fact is that Pearson never dreamed that this scenario could actually happen and I'd imagine the club are privately kicking themselves to let such a farcical situation unfold.
Nick Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 Well, you can look at it from a different angle (and I'd agree with Nick for most part here). Yes, DJ Campbell has scored a few goals for Blackpool, but the point is: They've hardly been strikes that were that influential on the Tangerine's recent rise from mid-table mediocrity to playoff contenders: vs. Middlesbrough: Campbell's goal (a cheap tap-in) came way late into injury time in the second half, when Blackpool's win was already sealed. MOTM here for the Tangerines was goalkeeper Gilks, who saved a penalty. vs. Reading: The Royals were still in a slump at the time, and MOTM for Blackpool was clearly Charlie Adam (who scored once and assisted on Campbell's goal). He didn't play well against Barnsley, had no hand in their 1-0 home win against Ipswich or the two following losses against WBA or Sheffield United away. He then did not even make the bench for the games against Plymouth away, as well as Crystal Palace and Swansea at home. @ S****horpe: DJ's brace (and those were two easy goals) came late into the game, when Blackpool were already leading 2-1 and "cruising to victory" (according to an official match report). vs. Doncaster: DJ scores the first (set up by a lovely cross by Craney), the Rovers could've equalized in the 2nd half. Dobie's goal essentially sealed the win for them. To me, this means, either Craney or Dobie as match-winners, not DJ. All I'm trying to say here (and I guess I'm in accordance with what others have mentioned before) is that DJ has hardly been that great for Blackpool as the ones with the panic button on their forehead are trying to make out. He's essentially just added some icing onto the Tangerine cake and profited heavily from the skills of his teammates - special mention to Adam and Dobie. It's not about the DJ, it's about how well Blackpool have been playing even before Campbell managed to score three times in two games recently. They're on a great run at the moment, yet he's just the on-loan sidekick, getting some of the treat himself. So, would the moaners please shut up and stop making an elephant out of a fly. - oh and I love the 'elephant out of a fly thing' - is that like 'don't make mountains out of mole-hills' but the direct translation of said saying? I am going to try and say the elephant out of a fly at least twice at work today.....

I see what you're saying but the facts are that he has already had 'some' (if only minimal according to you) effect on blackpool's results. We can't predict whats going to happen in the future and he could end up scoring an own goal in last game of the season securing us a playoff place... he might score the winner though and there's nothing we can do about it as a club. Still doesn't mean we can't have a moan though
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 Surely this should be closed now, it's been made clear we can't recall him
OLD norfox Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 I love the fact that I am being singled out as some kind of Pied Piper, with my hordes of followers doing my bidding and hanging on every word I say. I really wish the reality was like that. Isn't it ??? I'm an old man and fall asleep now and then but every time I wake up this thread continue ... on and on . Isn't it time to close it before somebody get some heavy braincanser
MC Prussian Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 - oh and I love the 'elephant out of a fly thing' - is that like 'don't make mountains out of mole-hills' but the direct translation of said saying? I am going to try and say the elephant out of a fly at least twice at work today..... The adjusted new slang "To make an elephant out of a Dudley" should make its way into English folklore asap.
Guest Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 Just so you know I've done the ironing you asked me to do, I'll bring it round later with your dinner. Can you let me know if the windows are clean enough yet so's I can start on the carpets? Isn't it ??? Er, no Honest.
marbelladave Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 Er, no Honest. come on, don't be modest. You're loving it, you know you are!... BTW. do you want me to pop round and clean the car while you are at the game tomorrow?
Nick Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 come on, don't be modest. You're loving it, you know you are!... BTW. do you want me to pop round and clean the car while you are at the game tomorrow? That I'm sure will be fine - and will have no bearing on your match report.

leftsideoverhere Posted 9 April 2010 Posted 9 April 2010 I think Lisa and her coterie of brain washed zombies (especially bettj2 whose first posting was top drawer) have got it pretty spot on so far, but there is one further point that the advocates of "let's bring DJ back to fook up Blackpool's challenge, hur hur hur!" haven't even attempted to address yet. If we were to do that, how might it affect our chances of getting shot of the overpaid cretin in the summer? And how might it hamper our reputation in the eyes of other clubs (including Blackpool) who we might want to do loan business with in future? Seems to me it would damage us much more than it is likely to damage Blackpool. fook me, I could score unmarked from a yard and half out. The bottom line is DJ has scored a few relatively insignificant goals for a club that we couldn't have expected to challenge us when we loaned him out. Hell, most of us didn't expect Leicester to be in the top seven by the end of the season, so to expect NP, MM or anyone else to have had the prescience not to loan Campbell to Blackpool is gobsmacking in it's retrospective arrogance. We didn't want him, he didn't want to be here, and Blackpool represented the only way to get him out the way. Job done. Even if there was a recall option on his loan, I'd be saying that we should leave him to rot. I trust our players to get the job done, and I don't want or need the excuse of a DJ Campbell tap-in to distract me from the job in hand. I understand that it's a nerve-wracking time to be a City fan, but honestly, I worry about our fans, I really do. We've had an amazing recovery in our fortunes over the past eighteen months, and yet we've got groups of fans booing the players and other people looking around for a scapegoat in case we don't make the play-offs. I know I've said this before, but I am utterly amazed and delighted by our performance this season, for all the blips and the fact we often seem to only play at our best for one half of the game. I can remember all to clearly the seasons when we only played well for one half EACH MONTH. I find myself dreading the prospect of making the playoffs for fear that there will be a poll on here as to whether we should sack NP for failing to win them. Not only that, I am actually dreading getting to the Premiership because all I can think of is the queues of callers to the RL moan-in complaining when we struggle to reach the top six of that at the first attempt too. Anyone who is finding the stress of the playoffs hard to cope with, and thinks they might be having an attack of the nerves, would you mind stepping away from the keyboard while you pull yourself together? Typical symptoms are paying too much attention to the players and managers at other clubs, phoning your local radio station to complain about a player who has made one mistake all season, and getting offended when someone points out you're talking shit.

Good post. I too didn't expect much more than a "safe" position in the Championship at the start of the season. This year's performance has been worth every penny I've forked out for mine and my son's season ticket. However...we are now within touching distance of a play-off place. It is 'every man for himself'. I don't expect any favours from any of the teams around us, nor do I expect us to return any favours. That includes the continuation of loaning players to teams that can potentially harm our position. DJ has never fired on all cylinders for us but has somehow found form with Blackpool. It is clear to all and sundry within the footballing arena that we are looking to get rid of him at the nearest opportunity, He has served his purpose in the shop window. Scouts (and his agent) have no doubt taken note of his abilities away from LCFC. Times have changed. We are no longer battling for a 'safe' finish in our return to this league and have a shot at back to back promotions. Recall him now - get his agent to double their efforts in securing a transfer in the Summer and go for it.

marbelladave Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 That I'm sure will be fine - and will have no bearing on your match report. None whatsoever as I will not be going... Family and car washing duties take precedence... However, for those of you who are going, enjoy yourselves on the terracing... :scarf: :chant:
Asha Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Blackpool will win today. Having that strong desire to make the play-offs is crucial, and even though Newcastle are still fighting for the title, losing that bit of pressure now they're promoted I think they'll sit back that touch more which will allow Blackpool to win, sadly.
marbelladave Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 Totally agree. Apart from the family duties mentioned above, I am not sure I dare stray too far from the lavatory for the next few games...

I know what you mean, however, Newcastle still have an unbeaten record at home which they will want to keep 'til the end of the season at least.

Foxhateram Posted 10 April 2010 Posted 10 April 2010 I know what you mean, however, Newcastle still have an unbeaten record at home which they will want to keep 'til the end of the season at least. DJ is a waste of space here! and has been at Blackpool for the most of his loan spell. Ok so he has scored a few goals there but so has Dobbie, and many others. Its not like DJ has become there only scorer and is winning it for them on his own. Calm down people, we are doing OURSELVES many favours by shifting out to the seasiders; 1) He's off our wage bill (well some of the wage bill) 2) Hes out of our way. While he is here and not getting chances it makes other players from other teams look at us in a negative frame of mind (This could effect our future signings) 3) Hes putting himself in the shop window and making a name therefore meaning we are more likely to sell him (Hoorah!) and while we are all arguing about Blackpool and their hero DJ. Reading are slowly gathering points and will be 3 points behind us if they win there games in hand. Look at the bigger picture! Not only that, why are all your glasses half Empty all the time. Look up, Swansea have a difficult game today and with our super Stevie Howard and Waggie on top form we could go back to fifth. Cardiff also have a tough game against Reading we could start catching them up today as well. Mine is half Full and the fit bar maid is going to be filling it up a bit more later after we beat peterborough. Here is to the last 4 games of this season! disclaimer; no offence is made towards anyone and i when i say everyone or all i mean the moaners and groaners that seem to be deluded about DJ being a superstar.
