Ozwin Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 I could have sworn she was from Leicester, maybe she moved up north to be with the Wagster?
Flynny Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 Well balls to that then. We need two teams. Team A can take out the girlfriend, Team B needs to find a lovely Leicester lass to seduce him.
ozleicester Posted 18 May 2010 Posted 18 May 2010 Well balls to that then. We need two teams. Team A can take out the girlfriend, Team B needs to find a lovely Leicester lass to seduce him. Can i be on team A.... please
SamL Posted 18 May 2010 Posted 18 May 2010 Martyn Waghorn says the Leicester City supporters have made his time at the club so much more enjoyable, as the Foxes' Young Player of the Year quickly established himself as a fans' favourite during his loan spell at the Walkers Stadium. In an impressive debut season Waghorn scored twelve goals, and made a vital contribution as City reached the play-off semi finals. Waghorn became an instant hit with the Foxes' faithful after scoring on his home debut against Swansea on the opening day of the Championship season. The 20 year old is now set to return to Sunderland, and whilst his future may be unclear, Waghorn says he will always be grateful to Leicester's fans. "The fans have been fantastic with me, they've cheered us on, they loved us and supported us and that's brilliant for a young lad coming on loan. The fans have been there for me, and I'll always respect them for that." Waghorn has enjoyed his first season of regular first team action and insists he'll always reflect fondly on the 2009/10 campaign, despite a heartbreaking conclusion in South Wales as Leicester were beaten by Cardiff on penalties in the play-off semi finals. "In a word it's been exciting, in a sentence Leicester is an absolutely fantastic club, I'll be sad to see it go but if I stay I'm more than happy to. The club is moving in the right direction, and I wish them all the best for the future." You can watch the full interview with Martyn Waghorn on Foxes Player over the next week. www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2055138,00.html I've got nothing but respect and admiration for the lad, no matter where his future lies. Like many others, I'd love to see him back here but if he feels like his future lies at Sunderland then I wish him the very best, although I do feel that if we can put in a good enough offer to tempt Steve Bruce then Waggy would be delighted to come back. Fingers crossed.
Jay Posted 18 May 2010 Posted 18 May 2010 I'll be sad to see it go but if I stay I'm more than happy to. mmm so something is in the air as they say
gazmanthegun Posted 18 May 2010 Posted 18 May 2010 mmm so something is in the air as they say God that would be nice. Surely the attraction of Highcross is enough to bring his g/f down here too!
BENTHEBLUE Posted 19 May 2010 Posted 19 May 2010 Taken from sky sports: Sunderland manager Steve Bruce will not sign striker Benjani this summer on a free transfer. The 31-year-old Zimbabwe international spent the second half of the season on loan at the Stadium of Light from Manchester City but did not find the back of the net once during his time there. Benjani is now deemed surplus to requirements at Eastlands, but Bruce has revealed he will not seek to make a permanent move for the powerful forward. "Benjani was a good loan signing for us at the time because we needed cover in case of injuries," he said. "In the end, he didn't play many games, but the extra competition brought the best out of the other lads. "I think Kenwyne Jones, in particular, could see that Benjani was most likely to take his place and rose to the challenge." Benjani moved to City for £3.5million in 2008 from Portsmouth and is now set to search for a new club during the transfer window. This could mean that waghorn will be back up to the first choice as bruce has been saying?
The Doctor Posted 19 May 2010 Posted 19 May 2010 Too attached? We're not a fluffy puppy was that not the same reason given as to why Cleverley wasn't have been returning on loan here at the start of the season just gone.
orod Posted 19 May 2010 Posted 19 May 2010 Pre-season friendly against sunderland been confirmed on the OS http://www.lcfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10274~2055732,00.html Coincidence that wer playin the mackems? or is it a Waghorn deal breaker of some kind?
Callabinho Posted 19 May 2010 Posted 19 May 2010 HAHA, i hope he doesn't read this thread ! Lure him in by taking out his missus lmao. surely if we kidnap him and hipnotise him to believe he is a leicester boy would sway his mind ? Maybe the friendly is because Bruce knows Waggy is staying with us and its his plan to swipe him in a transit after the game ??
Babylon Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Anyone read todays Mercury? The mercury signs say "Pearson want to keep Waghorn". They haven't updated the site yet so I don't know if it's rehashed news or something new has been said.
SamL Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Anyone read todays Mercury? The mercury signs say "Pearson want to keep Waghorn". They haven't updated the site yet so I don't know if it's rehashed news or something new has been said. Leicester City will try to persuade Sunderland to allow Martyn Waghorn to return for another loan spell, the Mercury understands. The 20-year-old has returned to the Stadium of Light after his successful season-long spell with City. Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has pencilled Waghorn in provisionally as one of his four main strikers for next season, and City know any possible move for Waghorn will depend on Bruce's activity in the transfer window. Bruce has Darren Bent, Kenwyne Jones and Fraizer Campbell as his main strikers and sources in the north-east say he is looking to bring in at least one more main striker this summer. He also has David Healy and Daryl Murphy, who have both been on loan at Ipswich Town, but will try to offload the duo. However, if Bruce does recruit another striker, he may try to sell Jones, who is wanted by several clubs. If he is unsuccessful in agreeing a deal for Jones, he will be left with five strikers, meaning Waghorn could face limited opportunities next season. Bruce has been delighted with the way Waghorn has been looked after at City and with the way he has developed under the guidance of City boss Nigel Pearson, who has stated he would not rule out an attempt to bring the striker back to City for another season. Bruce may decide another season of regular football at the Walkers Stadium would benefit Waghorn, who has become a firm favourite with the Blue Army. The fans have regularly called for Pearson to 'sign him up' during games. Waghorn, who was City's Young Player of the Year after scoring 12 goals during an impressive campaign, has stated he would certainly be open to a return. "I'll be sad to go but if I stay I will be more than happy to," said Waghorn, who was distraught after missing the fifth penalty as City dramatically crashed out of the play-offs on spot kicks at Cardiff. "In a word it has been exciting and in a sentence Leicester City is an absolutely fantastic club. "The fans have been fantastic with me. They have cheered us on, they loved us and supported us, and that's brilliant for a young lad coming on loan. The fans have been there for me, and I'll always respect them for that. "The club is moving in the right direction and I wish them all the best for the future." Any deal is unlikely to happen until late in the transfer window as City monitor events at the Stadium of Light and Waghorn's progress during pre-season. City have confirmed they will face Sunderland in their final pre-season friendly at the Walkers Stadium on July 31, (3.00).
MrSpaM Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 If Waggy dosn't join us in the summer, wouldnt it be amazing if they let him play for us against them in the pre season one last time. Would be a good send off after the dissapointment at Cardiff. Fantasy stuff i know but it'd be a great way to say thanks to the supporters. Has this ever happened before?
Dr The Singh Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 A load of speculative crap then!! Bloody Mercury. Did you expect anything different????
Foxhateram Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 Sounds a little bit like the friendly at the end of the pre-season will be the day we find out. If Sunderland have bought a striker by then, then Waghorn will come to us on loan again. If Sunderland haven't bought a striker by then, then Waghorn will stay with them. Either way it is a good opportunity for us to show the bloke how much we appreciate what he has done for us this season. WAGHORN! WAGHORN! WAGHORN! and CHANTS OF PEARSON PEARSON SIGN HIM UP! should be sung throughout the game non stop!
Houdini Logic Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 To me this says the decision has already been made - you wouldn't agree a friendly against a club where you may or may not sell a player who may or may not be pissed off at you just before you go into a new season. More of a farewell and show of appreciation if you ask me.
Ric Flair Posted 20 May 2010 Posted 20 May 2010 If we do get him, it'll be towards the end of the summer and if we're going to wait until then to get our 'main' striker then we could miss out on other quality players. I rate Waghorn, he's got the potential, but he is nowhere near Premiership class right now. He's gone missing in some big games for us this season, but when he's on form, he's top drawer for The Championship. Nonetheless, It's a massive season for us and Pearson needs to have his squad together early to get off to a good start and not be still hungover from the Play-offs.
