BoneDog Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 It'll be interesting to see how many people on here change their minds about goal line technology. If I remember correctly most were against. I was for Was a great goal aswell. Gutted
Phube Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 You didn't need goal line tech for THAT!!! Not even close!
Finnegan Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Sorry Mr. Alan Shearer, but plenty of people are against goal-line technology. Even on this forum, as Jehst rightly says. I'm "for", I really am. As a rugby fan I don't see the problem. But millions are against.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 That was a disgrace, it isnt even debatable. Someone must have seen it go over for fook sake! We'll dominate and lose 2-1 now I bet.
Leicfox Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Germany - Holland is a bigger rivalry than Germany - England
ACF Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 I've never really had an opinion until now.
Finnegan Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 What? It is. The Germans don't give a fook about England, honestly. They probably can't even tell you who were at the finals in 1966. Their famous victories are against the Dutch, the games they care about are Holland and to a lesser extent France and Poland. A few of them remember "the goal that wasn't" and are slightly begrudging about it but not because it was England just because they believe it caused them to lose. The Argies sort of hate you but beyond that you should stick to caring about the Scots because at least that's a two-way deal.
The Doctor Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 As a whole the germans deserve the lead, they've sliced through englands defence time after time, Terry was badly out of position for the first - credit to klose for not going down and looking to get upson sent off, And upson had disappeared for the second. If it weren't for james the germans would be as good as through. Don't need goalline tech to see the lampard "goal" was over, brilliant finish but the ball has bounced down off the bar, bounced forwards and hit the bar - so even though the linesman wasn't in-line surely he could have seen the ball move fowards and hit the bar and successfully put 2 & 2 together.
Corky Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Pretty pissed off, it looked well over in real time and the replays confirmed that. Having said that, without David James, we'd be in deep trouble now. Too much space for the second goal, poor defending for the first. Not out of this yet.
The Doctor Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Neuer probably should've called that aswell. i don't think he knew it had crossed the line, he was looking the other way and would probably have heard it hit the bar and simply think "off the bar, thank god".
coale39 Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Really cant see why goal line tech cant be used. Would only take 5 secs after goals which are debatable.
ozleicester Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Neuer probably should've called that aswell. nope... play the whistle
Finnegan Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Neuer probably should've called that aswell. lol Are you crazy? He'd get lynched when he went home.
Edmund Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 You're an idiot if you believe otherwise. Of course England - Germany is a big rivalry but Holland - Germany rivalry lies a lot deeper. Yes it's all war related but Holland was totally destroyed by the Germans in ww2 which to this day still hurts the dutch. From there it's spanned over the years and spilled onto the terraces since the sixties.
ozleicester Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Really cant see why goal line tech cant be used. Would only take 5 secs after goals which are debatable. What about the USA's goal that was disallowed... do we have electronic checking of referreeing decvisions too?
ACF Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 i don't think he knew it had crossed the line, he was looking the other way and would probably have heard it hit the bar and simply think "off the bar, thank god". But surely a defender, or a German player could've called it. Respect between teams my ass.
Smudge Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Sorry Mr. Alan Shearer, but plenty of people are against goal-line technology. Even on this forum, as Jehst rightly says. I'm "for", I really am. As a rugby fan I don't see the problem. But millions are against. Aye and they all speak German
The Doctor Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 What about the USA's goal that was disallowed... do we have electronic checking of referreeing decvisions too? Really they should just introduce a video ref like they do in rugby - with the goals one team will be off celebrating so the ref could always just delay a restart and get him to check.
Narborough_fox Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Sorry Edmund Crouchback never actually knew Germany-Holland was a big game, my apologies.
Finnegan Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 But surely a defender, or a German player could've called it. Respect between teams my ass. Don't be naive. Acts of sportsmanship like that are staggeringly rare and never, ever in such high-stakes environments.
Edmund Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Sorry Edmund Crouchback never actually knew Germany-Holland was a big game, my apologies. No need for apologies I'm just in a pedantic mood.
