Salieri Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Yea ok mate. The better team won granted. But by 4-1? No. Overreaction. I'm as patriotic as the next man (and normally biased) but i think 4-1 flattered us.
MC Prussian Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Disgusting race the Germans are. Still living in the 19th century, are we? I'd suggest you start spending some time abroad (visitor-friendly Germany, for instance) before all this "England Supreme" tripe they teach the young ones on the Isle has any more negative influence on your clear thinking. It poisons the mind.
AyewJoking Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 I can almost hear the removal of 1000's of st georges flags. Well thats a silver lining. took mine down after the Algeria debacle.
MC Prussian Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Germany came up with plays going forward that at times reminded me of how well Brazil played some decades ago. Two-touch football, no unnecessary passing around the back, with the constant will to attack. To quote a famous sports commentator That was liquid football. That and bloody efficient. The Three Lions' current defensive line-up lacks any description, it's that incoherent. The English midfield lacks more than just one creative spark. The English systems lacks a modernisation. The FA, stuck in a prehistoric mindset, lacks some sense, a proper coach and a proper attitude and a faith the youth will make a difference in years to come - there's some serious investments necessary to catch up with the rest of the world. You seriously lack in so many departments, it's such a massive letdown. Today's German squad made England look like Andorra. The England side today (as well as the one in the three group stage matches) was always one step too late, had no concept, no belief, no passion, no drive. Nothing. Those players have a lot to answer for and should refund their WC salaries they gained for qualifying for South Africa with immediate effect. THAT would be a grand gesture. But, alas, as if...
skinnydipper Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 I grew up living in Holland. OK. As I'm half dutch I shall be switching horses now.
Ryanside Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 We were well and truley beaten, no doubt about that. It would have been interesting however to see how things would have played out if we would have gone in at the break at 2-2 and germany on hte back foot. But realy no complaints could be made, we were shite.

potter3 Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 We were just awful. Germany outclassed us in every department. Although 'goal' decision was diabolical, I don't think it would've changed the outcome in the end.
dandannieldanok Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 I've never seen England as shabby as that at the back in my lifetime, and it's no overreaction because I've been genuinely racking my brains to think of a performance so inept. Despite having a legit goal chalked off, we fully deserved what we got; a humiliating thrashing.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Had the goal stood, I'm confident we still would have lost. They weren't just better than us, they were leagues better than us. I disagree, Germany were visably shaken still even after the break. It's so disapointing we gifted them their third, because we had some decent openings before then, that true we had wasted, but it wasn't as though Germany were posing much of a threat at that point.
Guest ttfn Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Was at the game. Thought we were ok, played very well for half an hour either side of half time. Farcical disallowed goal, I assumed there must have been a foul because I couldn't believe it hadn't crossed the line. Terry bad, upson worse. That's what cost us
Poakey Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Disgusting race the Germans are. Any explanation why you think this?
Tommeh Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 I'm very glad that for once we're out of the world cup without excuses, there was the "lottery of penalties" a freak Ronaldinho goal, Silly Beckham, a hand of God etc. etc. We're out because we are just plain gash as an international team. This crop don't deserve the sympathies that proud, passionate sides in '90, '96, '98 even 2002 got. The only player in that side who looks genuinely one of the worlds best in an England shirt is Ashley Cole and even he's a slimey little, money obsessed cheating cvnt.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Any explanation why you think this? Read post 211.
Anorak Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 A one legged Gary Neville would be preferable to Johnson, half the centre backs in the championship would be no worse than Upson. The centre of midfield was a horror show.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Haven't checked through the thread. But, I disagree with the introduction of goal line technology. Some times things go for you, and they go against you. Today it was a blatant goal. Football is alot about controversy. With every decision becoming correct, what would we have to debate to our mates about. This is probably an unpopular opinion.
breadandcheese Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 What a rubbish weekend of football. First we lose our manager. Then we get embarrassed 4-1 with one of the worst performances I have seen from an England team.
C-man Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 I've never seen England as shabby as that at the back in my lifetime, and it's no overreaction because I've been genuinely racking my brains to think of a performance so inept. Despite having a legit goal chalked off, we fully deserved what we got; a humiliating thrashing. Same. There have been one-off games where we've conceded a few goals through either great play or tragic individual mistakes but this whole tournament we've looked shakey. Might sound silly having only conceded one before today but in no game have I felt at all confident at the back and in keeping a clean sheet. We've always been solid at the back and we build from there, it's the way we've always been. Not anymore it seems.
