It's the new season and what an honour it is to have the first match thread.

I think it will be 0-0 personally with both teams hitting the woodwork at least once.

Good luck Paulo and the boys.

I think we'll be tight at the back, and get them on a counter attack, 1-0 win, changed my mind, I reckon it'll be King scoring for us.

Being the pessimist I am, I reckon we'll try to play our passing game but end up playing sloppy and not creating much. 2-0 Palace. If you set your expectations low, then you can never be disappointed ;)

Nethertheless, COME ON YOU BLUES!! :city:

Just about the get up and go into town for a pint and Wetherspoons breakfast then catch the 8.30/9am train to Euston.

Can't say i'm ready for the season yet! Doesn't seem 5 minutes since our playoff hopes were dashed, but by 3pm this afternoon sure i'm be more than ready for the season.

C'mon City. Blue Army!

Morning lads, a stylish win for us 3-1. Have to leave at 12 but I got excited ;)

If it's a stylish result then I'd be ecstatic. A good victory with a clean sheet will do, I like us 1-0 or 2-0.

Been up since 6am with the shits, infact I'm typing this whilst laying some cable. I can't wait. Where is everyone meeting up?

I think Fryatt will turn them over today and Berner will do a number on Ambrose like Walsh did on Hopkins back in '96.

EREWEGEW!!!!!!!

Can't wait for this later. Granted we have had football during the summer what with the "thrilling" world cup, but i've missed all the fun of the league. bring it on. C'mon City, let's get of to a cracking start under Sousa!!

Is it here already? Feels like we should have a few more weeks yet...

Npower Championship

Venue: Selhurst Park Date: Saturday, 7 August 2010 Kick-off: 1500 BST

Coverage: BBC Sport website, BBC Radio 5 live, BBC local radio & highlights on The Football League Show

TEAM NEWS Palace midfielder Neil Danns is suspended, but newly-appointed captain Paddy McCarthy is expected to shake off an Achilles problem in time to play.

Summer signings Owen Garvan, Adam Barrett and Andy Dorman are set for debuts, but David Wright is a slight doubt with a hamstring injury.

Leicester forward Paul Gallacher could feature, despite missing most of City's pre-season matches with a thigh injury.

Aleksandar Tunchev is still out with a persistent knee problem.

MATCH PREVIEW Palace have not had much joy against Leicester or on opening days of the season in recent years. They have lost their last three matches against the Foxes, failing to score in all three games, and have beaten them at Selhurst Park only twice in the last 15 years.

Palace fans, who have seen their team lose their first match four seasons in a row, will be hoping they can make a winning start under new manager George Burley - and make a fresh start after the club's struggles on and off the pitch last season.

Leicester, who were beaten in the play-offs, also have a new manager, with Paulo Sousa having succeeded Nigel Pearson after almost guiding Swansea City to a top-six finish.

Sousa's Swansea side scored and conceded very few goals, and were the masters of eking out results. He could fit in well at Leicester, as all but nine of their 46 games during the regular season were either drawn or settled by a single goal.

MATCH FACTS Head-to-head

• Leicester's 3-0 win at Palace in April 1998 was the last time one of these clubs scored more than two goals against each other.

o.gifCrystal Palace

• Palace were involved in a dozen 1-1 draws last season - more than any other Championship club.

• Darren Ambrose is set to make his 200th career start.

Leicester

• Leicester were caught offside 198 times in Championship matches last season - more than any other team.

• Steve Howard needs two more goals to total 200 in his club career.

I reckon we'll get 3 points out of this one. 2-0 City for me, King and dare I say it, DJ
