Jon25747 Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Unless we sell Howard we cannot even consider this. The guy has lost almost everything he had when he was with us, we'll be buying a completely different player and I'm not even sure if he could effect games as much as Steve Howard, and thats saying something. Do you honestly think that Heskey is not as good as Howard?! I know its been said on here before but some poor performances at international level (which I dispute anyway, but thats a whole different story) makes him a poor footballer? He's younger and quicker and plays in the prem. Instead of lining up againgst man utd he will be lining up against s****horpe. He will be awesome a this level and that is FACT.
Ozwin Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 He won't even cost that much, Villa fans want rid and he hardly broke the bank in the first place when they signed him. Why am I talking like this is actually going to happen, we all know it wont.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I find it hard to see how a player who has played at the top flight for pretty much all of his career and has been one of the most important players for England in the last 10 years (like it or not) can be described by a phrase originally used for Kevin Frances. Heskey may not the most elegant and for his size he certainly does go down more than he should, but his quality in undeniable and the fact that Liverpool paid £11m pounds for his services in his pomp proves that. Form is temporary. Class is permanant. Sort of a contridiction, Liverpool bought him on form as oppose to class IMO, he has never got anywhere near the form he showed when playing for us under MON for club or country
Corky Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Sort of a contridiction, Liverpool bought him on form as oppose to class IMO, he has never got anywhere near the form he showed when playing for us under MON for club or country Didn't he get 20+ goals in his first full season at Liverpool?
Ozwin Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 I can barely remember anything about his time at Liverpool, I do however remember his celebration Bring it back Emile, you have to score first though!
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Didn't he get 20+ goals in his first full season at Liverpool? Consistant form, he went on to play another 3 seasons and failed to double that figure. He hasn't shown really good form for nearly 10 years. He'll do a job in this league and our other strikers will cerainly benefit from him being here but take the piss and score a hat full of goals I can't see
Bettsj2 Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Didn't he get 20+ goals in his first full season at Liverpool? His first season at Liverpool he was absolutely outstanding. I really fail to see how anyone thinks that Howard is a better option?? I'm not knocking Steve. He's done really well the last few games he's played, but Heskey is just a better player. If the chance was given to swap Weale for Shay Given would they take it? Or Matty for Owen? Or Hobbs for Vidic? We'd all take it. We have to start accepting that the team as it is, is a good team, but not a team that's capable of challenging for the title. We now have funding to move to the next level so some players will have to move aside for better players. BRUNO, BRUNO
Tilley Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 He'd do the same job as Howard does at the minute, nothing more, nothing less and probably be less effective. Waste of time and money.
sdb Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 He was outstanding at Wigan, Brums leading scorer, Fans & Players player in his 1st year there. So I'd say he's had his moments since Liverpool. Obviously he's declined a fair bit but was excellent for England in WC2010 Qualifiers.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Consistant form, he went on to play another 3 seasons and failed to double that figure. He failed to double 20+ goals? Not surprising tbh.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 He failed to double 20+ goals? Not surprising tbh. If you think failing to score 20 goals in three seasons at a top 4 team is acceptable for a striker clearly you and I have very different opinions on football. To make it a bit easier for you to understand I mean the three seasons combined. I.e less than 7 goals a season on average.

Obviously he's declined a fair bit but was excellent for England in WC2010 Qualifiers. and who did they play? Kazakhstan, Andorra, Belarus, Croatia, Ukraine. Kazakhsan and andorra are championship relegation zone standard at most, Belarus aren't that much better (Lower midtable at most). The only sides they played in qualification with any ability were Croatia and Ukraine.
Finchy Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 He only scored 40 for us in 6 years! He's never been a goalscorer, stop talking about goals. He does a different job, ask Michael Owen.

His stats for Liverpool were: 99-00 - 22 00-01 - 14 01-02 - 9 02-03 - 12 Total - 60 Average 11+ over the three seasons.

Unabomber Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 So they mentioned about him coming in on loan. Would certainly take pressure off of him compared to if he came in permanently for a hefty fee.
Unabomber Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 Just that Heskey might be going on loan to Leicester, they then asked Lineker if he thought it would be a good signing and he mentioned about him being a local lad etc and would be decent, nothing too much.

I still don't know how much substance there is to this. Every news story has come from that little BBC interview with Bruno, where he was clearly asked about it as a responce to Bellamy going to Cardiff. Doesn't seem like any contact has been made or was going to be made. Still hopeful though

Ahh right cheers mate, think a loan deal would be best tbh, hope it happens, unlikely though.

Still hopeful though Tbh I reckon that it has gone something like this: Bruno Oliveira - "We won't rule out anything" Talksport guy 1 - "That guy from Leicester won't rule anything out, we have Lineker coming in later" Talksport guy 2 - "From what you just said I reckon Heskey going on loan to Leicester is a good shout" Talksport guy 1 - "Let's ask Lineker"
