ACF Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Well, I'd buy a Heskey shirt. Never saw him in a Leicester shirt, but it's Emile, he's a club legend. Bring him back, i say, bring him back!
ian_marshall Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 It's this Leicester fan mentality. It's as though if you run around like a madman, not necessarily doing an awful lot, but just running around and chasing down everything you become untouchable. Waghorn did it, so did Hume, as did Dickov and Savage etc etc. Players who don't do it, Gallagher is a prime example, get stick. I agree I would take Heskey on, there's absolutely no gamble there whatsoever and you know exactly what to expect. This has more to do with the fact that we very rarely manage to get hold of talented players in their prime. The ones we do sign are usually poached by so called bigger teams. In my time supporting the club the likes of David Kelly, Julian Joachim, Mark Draper, Emile Heskey, etc have all been snatched out of our grasp. The only other talented players we ever seem to attract are those who are past their prime or don't have the right attitude to fulfil their potential, all of which just seem interested in enjoying a free ride. I think the reason why a lot of City fans like players who give 100% is because as a fan you can't ask much more of them, and at least they try their best with the talents they have. With reference to Gallagher, I agree that the guy is blessed with a huge amount of technical ability but for me he doesn't exhibit it enough. I can see why fans get on his back as he fails to track back when he loses the ball, seems scared to put in a tackle and doesn't contribute enough to the team overall. Once he addresses his consistency and work rate I'm sure he'll get the credit he deserves.
sw_fox Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 I just don't understand how some people can think that Heskey couldn't do a better job than Howard. He obviously could, and a Howard-like player will fit in the team perfectly, so why would you not want him?
markbsac Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Just for the record Hesky grew up as a Liverpool fan. emile did you are quite right...but he has this club very close to his heart...he grew up in leicester they took him in as a youngster and gave him his big break...his family live here.......lots of kids are deluded to follow the glory clubs...emile was one of em as a young lad......i think in his heart he will say hes a leicester fan and class a move back as coming home !
dandannieldanok Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 I am apalled at how some fans on here don't want him back for various muppetish reasons. Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable. The minority that don't want him back are basing their opinion purely on a footballing basis. The people who do want him back are the ones with the various muppetish reasons, only a few people have actually bothered to make a case for him on footballing grounds, read the thread back and you'll see.
tomtom Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Totally agree. +1 Make that + 2 Come home Emile and take us back into the premiership !!!

He obviously could, and a Howard-like player will fit in the team perfectly, so why would you not want him? Exactly mate Defences would'nt be able to live with him in this division and he'd fit perfectly into the formation we're playing at the moment, imagine all the chances he'd create for the likes of DJ, Fryatt or Dyer playing either side of him !!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Won't the chants of "Bruno! Bruno!" get confusing? (Apologies to anyone who has already stated this - not gonna wade through 11 pages of speculation on a thread on a topic of which there are already several threads and has been turned over so many times you could put apple in it and sell it at Hampshires.)

Do you honestly think Heskey is NOT better than Howard?

What "muppetish" reasons like he is better than players we already have?
Babylon Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 It's not going to happen, end of. It's all made up by local bloody journalists looking at the Bellend transfer and hyping up something similar for us because we have been taken over.
C-man Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 I love Heskey and was a huge supporter of him during the WC, but I'd rather the money be spent on the future. Something that Emile is definitely not.

Something that Emile is definitely not. The future? What about promotion, is that not the aim for the future? Could Heskey help towards us getting there? In my opinion yes. Although this move blatantly won't happen.
MPH Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 I love Heskey and was a huge supporter of him during the WC, but I'd rather the money be spent on the future. Something that Emile is definitely not. The aim for the future is to get promoted. And we need. To do that by any way we can, especially if it means sigining a player playing for england a couple of months back! Goodness me.....
flanimal Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Heskey would add something to the team, even if you just got 2 seasons out of him, without a doubt as good as anything in our team, but seriously, he is not going to step down and do a Bellamy. Heskey, if he does move will go somewhere like Stoke, in my opinion. He probably has three years where he can cut it in the top division, and he'll spend them trying to play for a Premier League team.
the new guy Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 I don't know why every one I calling4 heskey he is just a slightly better howard there are better player than that which we could try an get sure he is a lcfc legend but he is'nt what we need
Jimmy Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 please stop getting your footballing opinions from the sun "slightly better then Howard" rules your post void instantly
Guest Bilo Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 If you can't see that Heskey would do a job in this division I suggest you spend your Saturdays shopping with the missus. Just saying.

MattyFromLE Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 At least he would play with a bit of passion, wear and honour the shirt and honour playing for us. Whilst others are here for the 'gravy' train he would give his all. All world cup I thought he put 110% in all the way through. For someone who put money into his club to save us - I'd have him back any day. Whether he'd score 25+ a season or not; he's no better or no worse than anyone else we have. Let's start picking faults with the players that actually matter right now - eg; the ones that wear the shirt now and don't give no fight
Ashley Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Will be interesting to see if Heskey is in the Villa squad for tomorrows game at Newcastle.
Cat Burger Posted 21 August 2010 Posted 21 August 2010 Don't worry about the wums, unfortunately you'll be greeted with hostility but don't be forced into changing your opinion by small-minded people. Those pro-Heskey bigots should be clearly be lobotomised for their own safety.
