They say no player is bigger than the club. But in Sousa we seem to have a manager who thinks he is. He's compromising the development of young English talent like Fryatt and Morrison for a combination of the arrogance of Campbell and the ineptitude of Moreno. The club is losing its soul and for that reason alone Sousa needs to go. Apologies for the split post, not sure what happened there

He may or may not think he has bigger boots than leicester but a) it's worth a try and b) he may see the potential that leicester has to realise he could take us to the prem, which would be a booster for his career

Take a look at David Jones, who has been at Cardiff for 5 years attempting to build a good enough squad, Roy Keane, who didn't suceed last year, Sir Alex Ferguson who lead Manchester United to a poor finish in his first season, and Alex McGliesh who has built up a fantastic squad at Birmingham but had to come down first for all that. It is going to take longer than a few games for the change to happen. Look at Sousa last season, he didn't get off to a flying start and his first win was at Coventry, after a draw with Reading. Give him a chance for a change. This poll is stupid.

I'm not sniping at his English, just what is he on about? I'm seriously worried even he doesn't know. I hate this 'hair trigger' approach to sacking managers but I'm beginning to believe the problems are too deep to be resolved in time to achieve anything this season. That is, if he can ever resolve them.

It got results, so I have no complaints about that. Sousa's style is perhaps the progessive football we need to move forward. However, in the short-term, it will cause us problems because the players have been used to playing a completely different way over the past two years. There are some worrying signs, such as certain players wanting to leave and our defending from both set-pieces and open play. Full zonal marking simply doesn't work as the attacking players will always have the advantage of getting a running jump. It didn't take a great delivery for Mills to score. I take comfort from the fact that Swansea started off slowly last season, but the next few fixtures fill me with concern. He could quite possibly be out of a job should we fail to win any of the next four games. Maybe the international break has come at the right time. At least we'll know who we've got and then maybe achieve some sort of stability.

Added to the lack of points this club is struggling badly. We've got three very tricky matches coming up where we've got to be at our best to claim some points, but currently I can't see where a change in fortune is coming from.

I can't ever remember wanting a manager sacked (I was even willing to give Holloway another go) and never after only a handful of games, but something really stinks behind the scenes. This isn't about results or the style of play, but a combination of apprehension (caused by the stories from various Swansea fans on here) and stories emanating from the club about player unrest have really, really concerned me. If we get to the end of the transfer window without losing any key players then I'll be willing to give him a month or two (because we don't have many options). If we lose one or more of Fryatt, Hobbs, King, Dyer and Gallagher then I'll want shot of him tomorrow. He needs to get his first XI and system sorted. He can't seem to decide on a formation or style of play so the players are out there playing with more confusion than conviction. For me, we have to settle on a 4-2-3-1 formation. The back four is up in the air because not one of them this season has impressed me save for Neilson and even at his best he's gash. I'd be tempted to go for Lamey - Hobbs - Morrison - Berner because at least three of them know each other and Lamey is marginally better on the ball than Neilson. The two in front of them should be Abe (if he does get clearance tomorrow) and King. I don't believe both of them have to sit and we know that King can get from box to box so I'd like him to be the linkman between attack and defence. Gallagher should be the centre of the next three, supporting the striker and getting help from King. Lloyd and N'Guessan (for now, but we REALLY need another winger) should be the wide men and Fryatt should be given the lead role. He's clearly a confidence player so Sousa must back him with an extended run. Away from team selection, they need to go back to man marking. They were comfortable with it last season and it has already cost us a few of goals this year. Finally, I still don't think the team is fit enough. Plenty of times towards the end of the Reading game we had more players walking back than sprinting back and only the ineptitude of Reading's attacking play saved us from further humiliation. Unless Sousa begins to address these issues in the next two weeks then he'll have reached the point of no return for me.
Leicester_Mad Posted 30 August 2010 Posted 30 August 2010 Out for me, not a big fan of the bloke, i dont think he can communicate in English very well after hearing interviews with him. His playing style is defined and seems very limited, if he wants to succeed he needs to have a different style when the first style doesnt work. I dont think his signings have been inspiring and I think him giving DJ another chance has disrupted the harmony in the team.

m00nie Posted 30 August 2010 Posted 30 August 2010 when we came up last season alot of people i know myself included would have been happy with a top half the table finish just to steady ourselves back in this league. but because we had a good run and finished in the play offs and just lost out people are hoping we go straight up now this year.. before the season even kicked off the opening few fixtures looked tough.. we then have the change in manager. new owners etc.. the manager is trying to find out who can play where, do what, adapt to how he wants to play etc.. we have been unlucky in some of our games and could quite easy have more points than we do. sooooooooo many rumours start people thinking the worst and being negative ( eg last week dyer fryat both ill and immediately people are saying there going etc) changing the manager now would not help the situation, we would need to find a new one, and then they would have there own style of play and players.. imagine what disruption thats going to have... get behind ps.. give him time to settle in, sort HIS team out, and watch how things become good..
