maddog Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 1-1 at the Ricoh last season, Waghorn's stunner cancelling out Sammy Clingan free kick. A draw would be useful if we knew we would win our home games, but there is no guarantee of that at the moment so we really need a win here. The top two will visit the Walkers next and with our defending at the moment it's going to be tough to win either of those. Last season we built from the back and were just so solid, which meant we were able to edge teams out in games and get points, and in this extremely competitive division you need that to get anywhere. So far we have been like a swiss cheese, full of holes. Coventry have started off the season very well, picking up 7 points including wins over Derby and Pompey. Their worst result of the season so far has been a 2-0 defeat to Morecambe in the Carling Cup, which ultimately means nothing and hasn't affected their League results. Where our best result of the season in the cup at Leeds, which we thought would raise confidence didn't help in our defeat to Reading 4 days later. Theres no need to panic just yet but we need a win sooner rather than later, if we're still joint bottom after 10 games then we should be worried. Sacking Sousa would be a complete disaster and leave us with all his foreign signings and put us into a similar position to when MA got sacked. Another total rebuild would be needed. Lets just pray it doesn't come to that. No where near. Going for a 2-1 win, Howard and N'Guessan on the scoresheet, Waghorn to set one up.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Cant see a draw think we will either do really well, or lose miserably. Going to say 1-0 to us with Howard scoring.
Guest Bilo Posted 7 September 2010 Posted 7 September 2010 Need a win badly with hard games against early pace setters Cardiff and QPR coming up. We never win at the Ricoh though and Coventry have started well. Let's hope that Sousa has learned from his mistakes in the first months and makes the required changes, as well as the double whammy of Waggy coming in and DJ fvcking off making a positive impact on morale. Heart says 2-1 win with Waggy and King scoring. Head says 1-1 draw with Howard for us and Womanbeater for them.
Fox92 Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 We do need to win because of the forthcoming games and I'm confident that we'll snatch a win against Coventry. Although we have never won at the Richo, it is a local derby and I think we'll beat them 2-1. Coventry always start well
MC Prussian Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 We need to get back to that neat passing game that we've shown against Middlesbrough. Hopefully, the acquisition of Martyn Waghorn has a positive influence on team morale and willingness/readiness. They finally have to show that they want to play for the shirt, and that as a unit. Reading at the Walkers was a pain to the eye and a pure heartache from start to finish, with Dyer being the only bright star. Sadly, I can't see Sousa choosing another captain other than Oakley. And should Moreno start again as centre-back, ... The squad needs to get a lot sharper if they want to avoid lingering around in mid-table mediocrity for the rest of the season or avoid the 2007/2008 situation. Hoping for a 2-0 at the Ricoh, but expect a 1-0 win to Coventry.
Dr The Singh Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 A draw at best. Moreno is the wekest link, and Oakley after that!! One thing for sure, Cov will score!!!!
Simo86 Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 Everytime I go to this place we draw! Hopefully we'll get a needed win but i'm going for a 1-1 draw with Waghorn scoring on his 2nd debut
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 win for city by a single goal!! I'm forever the optomist, so I always think we'll win, but it has to come together at some point, the signs are there so why not saturday. Waggy to score. hopefully going, health permitting
ozleicester Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 Im considering making this my first City away game in 40 years.... is it worth going to Ricoh?, after all ive heard im thinking i might be better holding the cash for a better match?
stix Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 Im considering making this my first City away game in 40 years.... is it worth going to Ricoh?, after all ive heard im thinking i might be better holding the cash for a better match? If you are only gonna be able to get to a couple then you may want to reconsider the ricoh. I think our fans will be there in good numbers-not sure about theirs tho? Oh by the way ive put a link in your thread about yr hardrive/media player predicament. You may wanna take a look i think its a bargain!

Stocker Posted 8 September 2010 Posted 8 September 2010 we will either play well and stuff em or keep giving the ball away and loose, i think we will win cos everyone does eventually!
phillthefox Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 hoping for a win as work with a dirty cov fan and cant take his S**t any longer.......... Waggy and howard 2-0
stix Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 hoping for a win as work with a dirty cov fan and cant take his S**t any longer.......... Waggy and howard King 2-0 Exactly that, and for exactly the same reasons....
dave_the_fox Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 18 seconds in, that will do again Waggy :-)ps what a great vid
Donut Posted 9 September 2010 Posted 9 September 2010 Ive voted for a win and im going for 1-0 Leicester. Tricky game especially considering the 'ruthlessness' of Aidy Boothroyd's direct football we can assume plenty of high balls will be pumped into our box and plenty of second ball/phase of play stuff will decide this game. Our recent record against Cov at the Ricoh hasnt been good. Its been a decent start to the season for Cov and the spine of their team, although young is good with Westwood arguably the leagues best keeper, Gunnarson in midfield and in Jutkeiwicz a highly rated young striker from Everton. Im hoping a change in formation to a 4-3-3 (with) 4-5-1 (without the ball) will inspire us to a confidence boosting win to take into the two games against the early pace setters. A magical return for Waghorn will be sealed with him scoring the winner.
carterfox90 Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 goin for a draw but hope we hammer the b#stards this is my local derby & work with a cov fan so hope waggys on fire for us
Astar_Fox Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 we need to put this Sh!t hole of a football club back in there place! local derby for me 2 and its doing my head in seeing the b**tards giving it the biggun! 2-1 us, after goin 1-0 down, Dyer to equalise and Waggy 2 bag the fairy tale winner before jumping in2 the foxes faithful! the season starts here!
sbfox Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 2-0 win. I think the inclusion of Zayatte might firm up the defence - hopefully he can play the 'meathead' role that Brown did last year alongside Hobbs. Interestingly, according to their forum, they had only sold 11k tickets by yesterday, compared to our 4k....
Rich Fox Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 Only 3500 tickets sold Thats good for Coventry
davieG Posted 10 September 2010 Posted 10 September 2010 One less player to boo! http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/coventry-city-fc/coventry-city-fc-news/2010/09/10/marlon-king-not-registered-in-time-for-leicester-city-match-92746-27243524/?
