Bert Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 In the England squad. Good to see Capello taking note of championship players, but dear me.
Guest ttfn Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 In the England squad. Good to see Capello taking note of championship players, but dear me. Bearing in mind that Capello is effectively auditioning Heskey replacements, who would you rather see in the squad who isn't already in it? He's shitting all over the Championship this season, and was excellent (without the goals) last season.
Samilktray Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 I'm happy for him, I think hes quality. Give him a chance and see what he does.
Bugg Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 On the subject of England call-ups. How the fook does Gareth Barry still get called up to the squad? I'd much rather have Huddlestone playing there instead.
Corky Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Well done to him, gives hope to others outside the top flight.

Big Ol' Bob Posted 13 November 2010 Posted 13 November 2010 Barry in, Henderson in. No Scott Parker, No Kevin Nolan. Two most in from centre mids, this is where Capello goes wrong.
Finnegan Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 How you can bring in the likes of Henderson and Bothroyd and leave out Kevin Nolan is beyond me.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Agree on the Kevin Nolan points raised, despite being a whinging little bastard there's no doubt he's on a decent streak at the minute. I'd sooner see Scott Parker in there as well over the likes of Barry. Considering what type of player he is, I don't really see anyone as good as Bothroyd right now. He's pissing the Championship, although he's playing in a lower division and it might seem a step backwards, I'd sooner see an in form Championship striker in an England shirt than an out of form Premier League striker of equal ability. There can't be any doubt that Bothroyd is too good for the second tier.
J.Lisemore Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Gareth Barry Glad about Jay Bothroyd being in there, someone different to look at.
Guest DavidJCW Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 I've got absolutely no time for Bothroyd at all... can't stand him. It should be rather entertaining seeing how he copes with far better players around him. I'm hoping it'll be like a fish out of water and his confidence will be shot, he'll return to Cardiff and be the shadow of the player he was before the internationals... Fabio is a Leicester fan...
Tilley Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Now Carroll has withdrawn due to injury. Carlton Cole replaces him..........
Big Ol' Bob Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Cant Control called up, I was on here shouting for him to go to the world cup last season, he was on great form. To call him up now though, scraping the bottom of the barrel Fabio.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Worst England attack I can remember. Good job we're only playing the French.
ScouseFox Posted 14 November 2010 Posted 14 November 2010 Strange one, on form he deserves it, but it's in the Championship, how he'll cope playing against France (if he plays) rather than S****horpe will be interesting to see.

J.Lisemore Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 I don't know how people can see this as a bad idea anyway...its a friendly, don't you get sick of the same old failures pull on the shirt?
Leicester_Loyal Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 I don't know how people can see this as a bad idea anyway...its a friendly, don't you get sick of the same old failures pull on the shirt? I've given up caring. They've let me down every tournament since I was born. I get my hopes up and then they can't even beat Algeria.
surrifox Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 when you get an unsung player thrust into the spotlight and feted with England call-ups etc it often results in their form to disappear and they stop doing what they've been doing all season- it would be a real tragedy if this fate overtakes jay Bothroyd
Dickie Greenleaf Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 Good call-up. About the only interesting thing. Although he'll probably just sit on the bench with the rest of the exciting players, whilst the usual failures from the 'golden generation' hoof the ball around with no idea what they're doing.
purpleronnie Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 I don't know how people can see this as a bad idea anyway...its a friendly, don't you get sick of the same old failures pull on the shirt? Exactly waht I thought.
Mack Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 Capello is allowing the media to pick his squad. The more he makes decisions like this the more I realize his fist priority is to pander to the media in an attempt to keep his huge salary rolling in. This is his pension money, as long as he gets to the Euros in one piece I dont think he could give 2 fooks about England.
lcfc_jme Posted 15 November 2010 Posted 15 November 2010 I'm actually glad Capello has appeared to pick an in-form player. Maybe if he did that all the time instead of letting the same old turd pull on the shirt game after game the England team wouldn't be as much of a joke as it is at the moment. Hmmm.

He's no Shola though.
