ajthefox Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 I find it weird that anyone's got any bad feeling towards the guy; he can't be judged in his results, cos he wasn't here long enough. Okay, so his transfer policy was a bit Supermarket Sweep, but it might've gelled if he'd been given more time. A few cold showers and early morning swims and Kaebi could've been the new Ronaldo. This. Say what you like about who he signed now but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I doubt anyone would've expected Pearson to take us within a couple of penalties of the play-off final so for people to be writing Allen off just because he hasn't done well since is rubbish.
Daggers Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Not wishing to defend him but he didn't sign all those player, McKay and Mandaric were deeply involved and maybe he's struggled to get a job because people don't know the truth behind his dismissal. Maybe, and this is far more likely, it is that people have found out why he left here and the truth about his behaviour at Cheltenham. The man will never work in football management again.
coale39 Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Even if we dont take into account his 'signings', he was a moron. Funny at the time but it was like a FML funny.
cc_star Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Things we know 1) There is the impression that he threw his weight around and is considered a bully by more than one source 2) His signings massively unbalanced the squad, which contributed to our relegation, as too drastic a re-balancing was needed 3) He didn't treat some players with respect (fair enough we all like to see a few prima donnas washing the dishes or serving in the canteen) but how would you feel if you'd signed for a promotion hopeful club and your first job was to clean the bog? 4) He got remunerated when he was dismissed so he should STFU or give Milan some of it back. His record since speaks volumes, he got the gig of his life and he blew it, whether it was for being unprofessional, crap at building a squad, disagreed with the money-man's choice of player (jimmy), was found with Columbian marching powder halfway up his nose, or failed to understand that the man who puts the money in ultimately makes all the decisions and there was a personality clash or a combination of all these things, no one knows at the min and even if he does speak out then we still won't know the truth until Manderic has right of reply. I think some things are better left unsaid, Allen got his contract paid up and if he didn't then it was for a gross misconduct reason so should STFU

As I said he didn't make all the signings many of them were by McKay & Mandaric 4) He got remunerated when he was dismissed so he should STFU or give Milan some of it back. - If he'd done something seriously wrong why compensate and not sack? His record since speaks volumes, he got the gig of his life and he blew it, whether it was for being unprofessional, crap at building a squad, disagreed with the money-man's choice of player (jimmy), was found with Columbian marching powder halfway up his nose, or failed to understand that the man who puts the money in ultimately makes all the decisions and there was a personality clash or a combination of all these things, no one knows at the min and even if he does speak out then we still won't know the truth until Manderic has right of reply. hairy Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Just to speculate further, I heard Milan was not happy with the player fitness and when Clive Clarke had his heart attack Milan decided to give him the push
Webbo Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Just to speculate further, I heard Milan was not happy with the player fitness and when Clive Clarke had his heart attack Milan decided to give him the push How did Sousa last so long then?
Daggers Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 At the end of the day - I'm sure most people don't give a fvck what the odious little thug has to say about anything.
Sylvie85 Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Didn't he get sacked from Cheltenham for hurling racist abuse at nightclub door staff whilst he was out one night? But at least he isn't a bully?
Father Ted Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 Treating players like cleaners is clearly not going to work in this day and age is it? I heard this too. Apparently, he used to walk around the club and treated absolutely anyone employed by the club like his bitch. MM made the right decision.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 At the end of the day - I'm sure most people don't give a fvck what the odious little thug has to say about anything. But enough about Milan, this is a thread about Martin Allen!
The Doctor Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 don't care, including caretakers there's been 8 managers here since him (5 if not including caretakers). Besides i'd argue he was a pretty shit manager anyway: terrible signings (even though not all were his, all were terrible), outdated methods, poor choices of starting line-ups (De vries recalled and a team chocked with right backs? when was that ever a good idea?)
Corky Posted 1 December 2010 Posted 1 December 2010 At the end of the day - I'm sure most people don't give a fvck what the odious little thug has to say about anything. Yes, he's history and part of a comically bad season that is best forgotten.
Mack Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 I doubt many Leicester fans care what happened with this no mark. And anyone who pays £1.6 million for 'deadly' DJ must be a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic. He's only bitter because he now has no one to mow his lawn on a Sunday morning! Move on mad dog....
Karljohn Posted 2 December 2010 Posted 2 December 2010 Last I heard from Martin Allen was him begging for a commentary job on 5 live the other week. He's the sort of manager you expect to see in a famous for five minutes FA Cup run, where his non league team have just done a giant killing by beating a League 2 team, Then they get smashed 6-0 in the 2nd Round.
l444ry Posted 3 December 2010 Posted 3 December 2010 Didn't he get sacked from Cheltenham for hurling racist abuse at nightclub door staff whilst he was out one night? But at least he isn't a bully? He was totally cleared of racial misconduct.... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/dec/11/martin-allen-leaves-cheltenham
jamesmilner Posted 4 December 2010 Posted 4 December 2010 ALLENS FIRST STAFF MEETING INVOLVED ALL AT BELVOIR DRIVE . MILAN WATCHED AS HE PUT ON A PRESENTATION . F.I.F.O was wrote on a white board for all to see . he told everyone that they had to FIT IN , OR F*&k OFF . milan made his mind up at that moment . you dont have to believe me but this is 100% true. he also was so heavy with his discipline and ideas he just forced himself out . also the reason he got the sack at cheltenham was he dropped his trousers at a club do in front of everyone , fact .
Daggers Posted 4 December 2010 Posted 4 December 2010 also the reason he got the sack at cheltenham was he dropped his trousers at a club do in front of everyone , fact . It's not the only thing he did and it didn't result in the sack. He was suspended by Cheltenham because they couldn't get him to agree to a severance package - but they wanted him out almost as soon as he started. The odious man believes he can do anything he wants by applying a bit of intimidation, on his own or using some chunky friends. I'm surprised that QPR have bothered to retain him on any sort of basis, I'd have thought he'd run out of friends within the game by now. Maybe it's being done as a favour to one of his relations? He's going to be pushed to cock-up a job as a part-time scout but I'm sure he'll manage it.
