Watford FC vs. Leicester City Post-match thread

Waghorn, Bednar, Gallagher, Vassell, Fryatt, Howard,. You would think we would have someone which could score consistently.

We just play with one up front and only Howard or Bednar have the strikers role, the rest are playing out wide. And Howard's never going to score consistently at this level.

Very frustrating, particularly as it looks increasingly like the playoffs will be made up of distinctly average teams this year and that a very very average side has a decent chance of going up (i.e. Chav, Naarwich)

December and still no goal from a corner, and conceding plenty from them, is unacceptable on any level. We need to spend this year gelling a team of better permanent signings together with a view to next season. Anything better than 12th place will be a bonus this year. As great as Sven has been we're not good enough away from home, and not clinical enough to be near the playoffs. Still a big big job on for our new owners to get their desire for a place in the prem,.

Gutted with this result but missed chances will cost us big time come May

A team like cov seem to be doing what we did last year - keep things tight at the back and take your chance when it comes -boro seemed to have the best of it and then missed a pen -cov hung on then scored from a pen near the end

Hate that lot but as shite as they are the're doing something right.

Many of you on here have much better contacts within the club than me but if you think spending big (if we've got it?) in January is the answer rather than build a tight squad that are well organized that play for each other then I think you may well end up even more frustrated in May than you are tonight

In the context of the season there is no escaping this is a terrible result. Nothing less than 4 wins from the next four games are required to keep any realistic hope of the play-offs alive.

Sadly we are really too far adrift to have anything but an outside chance and whilst we continue to be unable to score from open play and continue to concede stupid goals we will get nowhere near the play offs.

Soussa's short time in charge has put this club back two seasons at least.

In all seriousness though, it reminds me a bit of the Levein era, creating lots of chances but not being able to finish them. Pretty sure we played crewe and created over 20 chances but din't put one of them away/

Your low standards disgust me. I will not accept anything less than 5 wins from the next 3 games. IT'S NOT GOOD ENUF.

Gutted.

We have to address our attacking options. We can't carry on relying on Free-kicks, penalties and Andy King. Up-front we have Gallagher who is frustrating in-front of goal, Vassell who has never had a great goal-scoring record and Bednar who is predominantly a target man. Fryatt needs to be given a chance, he is the only player we have that has the movement and finishing to improve our goal threat.

Overall under Sven we have done fairly well, but there isn't a doubt in my mind we could and maybe should be doing better with the quality of player at our disposal.

I hope Sven changes things around against Donny, but I don't think he will.

Well weale had his shocker that I predicted. We can't expect to do anything in the league defending like that. Granted the pitch was slippy but it was the same for both teams. Don't be fooled by Gallagher's goals, he was awful. Missed yet another header by placing it straight at the keeper. Had a great chance to equalise when he was pretty much clean through as well, but fluffed it.

Howard Just moaned like a bitch when he came on, the ref certainly had something against him though. King was very quiet today. Hobbs looked very shaky. Yuki was probably our man of the match.

Why lloyd didn't come on was very strange. We need to give waghorn a crack up front.

Facts are according to Babara from Leicester we lost Fryatt didn't play!! Didn't realise Fryatt was Lionel messi get idiots like babara off the radio

Yes, she certainly doesn't make a well thought out, intellectual argument like you do. Maybe you should phone in, I'm sure Radio Leicester could do with your compelling wit and cutting edge opinions.

Not here to argue you take realism get this season over with and consolidate, I just find the crap she says as laughable and makes Fryatt out to be the mesiah, I say play him hang him out to dry then people realise how crap he is, to make out we lost due to super Matty being out side is a joke, callers like David who call in make a lot of sense and had pleasure to hear his views in holiday inn, frankly as long as we survive write this season off, interested if Barbara Fryatt goes to games!

Deflating beyond belief. Why Lloyd Dyer doesn't seem to get a crack I don't know.

We NEED a permanent 'keeper in January, as well as a couple of strikers that can actually score. It's becoming beyond a joke now just how useless our frontline are.

Ironing out this inconsistency will be Sven's biggest challenge. The squad is capable of decent things.

on this occasion the person who has his slot scored 2 goals... not so sure he is in line for a starting place for a while yet...

Actually, vassell is in dyer's spot.... Dyer plays on the right when he comes on for us.

Gallagher may have scored twice today, but that's all he did.

dyer is shit! so overrated! only interested when the ball is near him for all of 5 minutes a game so stop moaning that he should play, we're clearly doing better since he hasn't been figuring, the incosistency will go once we have a settled squad, when sven has done his january dealings (ins & OUTS) the squad will hopefully have more balance!

jesus its one close defeat away from home, the league is still wide open for fox sake  and if we only seem to get a result at home then this time next week everyone on here will be licking sven's arse like a kebab in pitta after a saturday night haha

lighten up ppl

long way to go yet

Gallagher has scored a few important goals for us this season as he did last season

Just got in, Watford is the nearest I get to a home game, about 15mins from Harrow (and Wealdstone) on the overground.

First half we were woeful, we got absolutely nothing right, couldn't attack, couldn't defend and at time could barely stand up. Our defending for the first goal was so casual I thought the whistle had gone for offside or something, second required cock ups from both Hobbs and Weale...dunno.gif

We rallied just before half time and finished the half with a great chance from a free kick on the edge of the box, Gallagher putting it just wide.

After the break we were much better and fully deserved to level the score though why we defended so poorly towards the end is a mystery, sure we wanted the win but to leave such gaps at the back, suicidal.

I'll post a full match report later when I've had a beer or two and some supper...thumbsup.gif
