He's done a terrific job, they were definitely on their way to staying up which is all they should be expecting. And Pardew?! You kidding me?
Guest Bilo Posted 6 December 2010 Posted 6 December 2010 Ludicrous decision to sack him in the first place, seemed to have done for them what Pearson did for us. Took a club that had sunk to a level it should never have sunk to, quietly rebuilt confidence without any great fanfare to get them back up and looked to be starting well back in the Premier League. The fact that Pardew looks likely to be appointed just shows that the role is now a poisoned chalice that no successful Premiership manager will touch with a bargepole. I fancied Newcastle to be fairly comfortable in mid-table under Hughton but with no money and uninspiring managerial options, it's another relegation battle for the Toon.

I always thought Ashley was a Newcastle fan but it seems like he doesn't care anymore and is just on some mission to upset the fans who told him how it is long ago.

Looks a stupid decision from the outside, haven't heard anything about a disagreement or whatever, seems strange, Ashley's just a moron.

Well worth subscribing to Alan Pardew set to be new Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is set to be named as the new Newcastle manager within the next 24 hours, BBC Sport understands. The former Reading, West Ham, Charlton and Southampton boss was among the favourites to take over from Chris Hughton, who was sacked on Monday. Hughton led Newcastle back into the top flight last season but following his dismissal, the club said it wanted someone "with more experience". Pardew, 49, has been out of work since being sacked by Southampton in August. BBC Sport understands that Pardew was in talks with Newcastle about taking over at St James' Park as long as 10 days ago. It is believed Pardew became close friends with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and director Derek Llambias when all three were familiar faces at an exclusive London casino where Llambias was managing director. Pardew has over 500 games under his belt, but limited Premier League experience. He joined West Ham in September 2003 and guided them to promotion to the Premier League in 2005 before being sacked in December 2006. He then joined Charlton on Christmas Eve 2006 but the club were relegated from the Premier League later that season and after failing to get promotion in 2007-08, he left in November 2008. Among the other names linked with the St James' Park post were former Tottenham manager Martin Jol, who stepped down as Ajax boss on Monday and ex-Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill.

WhitburnFox - I work in central Newcastle, the Geordies are incandescent about Pardew!(if, indeed, it is him..) ... He's a great mate of Derek Llambias...& the 'cockney mafia' stuff is all over the place...They're still paying Wise until March 2011! It's as funny as fook...Geordie Nation? Ha!
