jonthefox Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 shame. I bet posh didnt fancy the highcross. I think out of all these big names were linked with ,id prefer someone like santa cruz. I just see beckham as a rich mans robbie savage sometimes.
MC Prussian Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 It's been reported before and Sven repeated it once more on Radio Leicester four days ago. A couple of high-profile players, including Beckham, were approached (Eriksson did a few inquiries on the phone), but the issue with most of them is that they don't want to drop to Championship level.
Fox92 Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Dont want him, think it would have an adverse affect. Anyway, he can't use his left foot, he can't head a ball, he doesn't tackle and he never scored enough goals yet people make him out to be somesort of wonder player.
foxoffderby Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Old news, been reported in previous becks threads
Haydos Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Anyway, he can't use his left foot, he can't head a ball, he doesn't tackle and he never scored enough goals yet people make him out to be somesort of wonder player. Was that a deliberate attempt at a george best quote?
Ambitious Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 He's finished, I've said all along it won't happen. We need long term signings.
Kitchandro Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 We need to build a team, this is a football club not a circus. I agree we need long term signings, arguably too many loans as it is
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Dont want him, think it would have an adverse affect. Anyway, he can't use his left foot, he can't head a ball, he doesn't tackle and he never scored enough goals yet people make him out to be somesort of wonder player. For a minute I thought you were on about Gallagher.
Brainy Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Anyway, he can't use his left foot, he can't head a ball, he doesn't tackle and he never scored enough goals yet people make him out to be somesort of wonder player. ugh, instead of indulging in a debate i'l just say this - fook off.
Kitchandro Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 ugh, instead of indulging in a debate i'l just say this - fook off. TBF he is right, he can't use his left foot, he can't head, he can't tackle, and many people do think he's a wonder player, which wouldn't be my opinion. He was a very good player back in 2001, since then he's been past it.
Brainy Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 but then you should realise that he has a better right foot that anybody, which surely makes up for his non-existent left foot
Daggers Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Aw bless. Little Walkers is talking internet tough talk.
StanSP Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 ugh, instead of indulging in a debate i'l just say this - fook off. but then you should realise that he has a better right foot that anybody, which surely makes up for his non-existent left foot Bang. You're in.
Wymsey Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Its a media signing, his addition won't help the team to perform better and get more wins under their belt i don't think
Kitchandro Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 but then you should realise that he has a better right foot that anybody, which surely makes up for his non-existent left foot Not really. World Class players should be able to use 2 feet. Beckham is World Class with a dead ball. But you can't compare him to truly World Class players. He's a winger yet he can't even go past a player. Besides this is a moot point because the fact is he's been past his best for 10 years.
Wymsey Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Think Sven only wants him for better quality free kicks, thats all by the way
Brainy Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Aw bless. Little Walkers is talking internet tough talk.
MrSpaM Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 Not really interested in these players that "only want to play in the top league" or won't play for the club because were not "big enough". Why does that matter when were offering them a job that pays enough. It's not like the championships a step down from the american leagues in terms of quality really is it.
Mack Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 This is terrible news. Until now the new owners have shown a lack of patience with promotion, but this 'Get us a big name' policy shows they are either using the club for increased personal and business status back in Thailand or are incredibly naive and lack understanding of what it takes to get out of this league. IF they are serious about the long term success of this club then please quit looking for a publicity stunt in the guise of a has been sideshow and get on with building the squad we need to power our way up. Right now there are far too many loan players whilst players contracted to the club permanently are being upset by not starting games. That's fair enough short term but the situation needs clearing up in January and that is going to take a massive amount of work. Pissing about with Beckham et al is just a waste of precious time.

I'd say the Championship is actually better, theres plenty of first team players in the MLS that can't get in Championship or even League One teams.
Unit Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 How the fook is this story on the front page of the BBC sport website?! slow day methinks
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 I hope he signs Veron, Crespo, Rivaldo, Denilson or Riquelme. Don't know why.
m00nie Posted 9 December 2010 Posted 9 December 2010 i cant believe how many people here think beckham wouldnt have been a good thing!! some of the stuff he would bring would be attendances would go up as people would come solely to see him.. media interest would rise causing the clubs profile to rise with it. shirt sales etc would rise earning more money for the club.. his presence in the dressing room would ADD to the team spirit. and this is all before hes even kicked a ball.. the guy still has the passion for football. can still deliver a dead ball. the killer pass.. etc..
