Samba Samba?

So this really is long shot, but no longer than say Beckham, or the other high profile names mentioned.

It seems that Samba of Blackburn is fuming with the sacking of Allardyce, and wants out.

As we are looking for a strong character a la 'Brown-esque' at the back, and are in dire need of a player who can put the ball in the back of the net during set pieces and corners, could Samba be the solution?

How much would be he be worth? Could we tempt him to drop down? Questions, questions and speculation etc.

If we were a top 2 side or at least in the playoffs we'd attract some of the people. But there is not a cat in jells chance we'll get any these players whilst we win one, lose one, win one, lose one

We've got Davies, Naughton & Cunningham because they aren't in the 1st team & we got Vassel because he didn't even have a club.

Defeats at Bristol, Watford & Ipswich has fooked are ability to get in the playoffs and attract these players in the January window.

We're so easy to score against because we play away the same we do at home. Unless we drop to one upfront & play a 5 man midfield away from home for the first 45/70mins we'll keep losing away, and shipping goals. Like it or not, it's the modern way & an older manager might not be able to adapt to it.

So January will see us fail to attract the class of players the owners can afford, the fans would love & Sven could attract - We'll be nipping around the young loanists who need experience & the has-beens who can't break into their 1st teams, all thanks to not being in the top few.

I can see that you drink from the half-empty glass.

Outside the 'game that cannot be mentioned' over the weekend, we have shown any potential fringe Premiership players that we can play decent football, but are missing that extra bit of class to push properly for the playoffs. Essentially a nice ego-boost for those who might be tempted. Samba is, as stated, a long shot. But as captain material, a giant beast of a man, who doesn't shirk a tackle, isn't pushed off the ball, scores important goals, then I'd say in fact, this is the calibre of player we can afford or attract. Well, certainly at the top of our possible reach anyways. The Beckhams, and big names will not come to us, even if we were up the top.

I think Sven needs to make the owners understand the situation, and not bring the likes big-name footballers way past their prime heading to the glue-factory.

Have you left somehing at home???

What have the bad passes and communication between gk and defence with midfield to do???

Do you want them to hold hands?

We need a goalkeeper with the power to command the back four and have an aura of stability around him.

Nice pic, but which one is the man? I think the one on the far left ;)

i think so too but looking at the face of the one on the far right another bloke may have just come up behind her.

He won't come here. Were not good enough. He's club capt at Blackburn I think ffs!

I think that's exactly my point. I think you are underestimating Sven's ability to draw in players and what exactly is on offer at Leicester. We have shown we are capable of beating decent promotion chasing teams easily, and it's clear we are lacking in particular areas. Samba is indeed captain at Blackburn. He is furious that the owners have just let go their manager at a critical point of the season. Blackburn are midtable, have a short-term manager in place with a mighty £5 million promised to strengthen their team. It seems to me that their new owners should have stuck to chicken farming, because the direction they are steering Blackburn they soon find themselves plucking down in the relegation zone.

Surely we are still a better prospect than that?

If Samba isn't one you think will come, then another tireless leader from the back is Richard Dunne, who Sven will know well. Could we put in a sneaky bid for him?

You are deluded! Richard Dunne?? Haha.

Get back to playing football manager mate.

Right Tommy G, I'm deluded...best to get back to my PC and waste my time in fantasy. I'll only hope that one of these days we are bought by multi-millionaires with ambition, and a World-Class manager.

Tell you what when that happens Tommy, give me a nudge and wake me up, cos I'll be only be dreaming of these things.

Sven is already shown that he is willing to ask. Dunne played under him, and I have no doubt they'll have a good relationship. He was captain under him. So there is a possibility, I never said a certainty. A bigger connection than most we've been linked to, and class player.

Both unlikely but I wouldn't say they're out of the question. No less likely than us getting Davies or Cardiff and Bellamy. Dunne is well out of favour at Villa and has looked poor this season (as he did in his last year at Man CIty). I expect a Stoke/Wolves would fancy him but his value's dropped a lot imo. Samba is prem quality but will B'burn sell him to another prem club? Unlikely. That would be our only hope. But do we need a CB if we keep Davies anyway?

Thanks for at least understanding that these recommendations are simply that, long shots. If Davies does stop on, and based on his attitude in the media recently, I'd say he's seeking Premiership pastures, and is talking up his move etc, I doubt we can hold onto him. We seem to be missing some grunt at the back. Someone with both experience, strength, and good communication skills. I'd say that Dunne fits that bill perfectly, and we could get him for a decent price too, if he was interested of course.

He seems to me to be the 'black' Neilson. (non-racist) He'll be alright if he played in this division but his passing and sometimes control of the ball can be sloppy.

Oh dear god these threads are getting really embarrassing now. We are not going to attract that type of player here and even if we did, i feel that they will have a detrimental effect rather than a good one. Big name signings will come to a club like ours and look down on the players around them, therefore bringing instability in the dressing room. Prem quality also does not make a good championship player! Bellamy has hardly been prolific has he!?

What we need is a young hungry side who are proud to be part of this club. Proud to work hard and battle for the cause, take one for the team. Not a load of old has beens like Dunne who have been far from their best for at least a season.

Lets just wait and see what happens in January and wait and see what sven brings up?

Mods can we have the transfers part of the forum re-opened to stop all this spamming on this area. On Saturday morning their was so much crap on this area that i could not find the match thread, ridiculous.

Are you for real?! The guys a beast at the back, he's quite often captain for Blackburn and has been linked to top clubs in the past. Yet here you are saying he'll 'be alright for this division' ! Some people are crazy. More chance of Beckham coming.

Dunne is a better bet, not happy at Villa, was Sven's captain at Man City. Not the greatest defender in the world, and getting on a bit, but would be awesome in the Champ and would be great for the likes of Hobbs, Vitor and Morrison to work with, and I don't think he would be a big ego and disrupt things. This is of course if we don't get Davies. We have no chance of getting Samba he is class, and would go abroad before dropping to the Champ.
