Bugg Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton - Hobbs - Vitor - Cunningham Gallagher - King - Wellens/Abe - Dyer Bednar - Vassell The reason why I have re-introduced Bednar is that when we switched to 442 with Bednar and Vassell up top we seemed to play better. I've also added Vitor in the line-up because Davies seems to have gone off the boil recently.
davieG Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Bednar had the luxury of Vassell playing along side him rather that out on the wing when with Howard. Bringing Vassell closer to the 'target' man was the difference. Bednar's heading worse that Howards and I'm not a big fan of Howard
tylesta Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 weale naughton vitor hobbs cunningham abe wellens fryatt king dyer vassel fryatt in for gallagher!!!!!! gally was dreadfull yesterday. also gone for 4 2 3 1 with fryatt and dyer supporting vassel
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Isn't Vitor injured still? And I think we've seen the last of Fryatt in a city shirt.
RowlattsFox Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Dyer in for Howard would be my only change. Dyer, Vassell and Gallagher could be lethal on counter attack.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton Hobbs Vitor/Davies Cunningham Abe Wellens King Gallagher Vasell Dyer
dpjfox Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 i thought we had davies until jan 4 ( he will play if vitors injured) if were gonna give fryatt a swnsong last match it should be a home one! Bednar for Howard is the only change i envisage
Asha Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Weale Naughton, Hobbs, Davies, Cunningham Abe, King, Wellens, Dyer Waghorn, Vassell
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Weale Naughton, Hobbs, Davies, Cunningham Abe, King, Wellens, Dyer Waghorn, Vassell Agree with this. But Kirkland in goal. Waghorn needs a run in the squad to show us his £3 million pound price tag.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 The problem is definitely the defence, but there isnt much we can do to change it. Weale/Kirkland (not really fussed) Naughton Davies Hobbs Berner Wellens King Abe Dyer Bednar Vassell
Asha Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Agree with this. But Kirkland in goal. Waghorn needs a run in the squad to show us his £3 million pound price tag. Thanks, but I disagree about Kirkland. Weale's a good keeper, and Kirkland has let in five in two games. Surely that's not a drastic improvement, is it? Kirkland fills me with zero confidence, flaps more than Logan and doesn't seem worth it to me. WEAAALEEE.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Dyer in for Howard would be my only change. Dyer, Vassell and Gallagher could be lethal on counter attack. With us struggling away from home, I'd go more defensive with a 4-5-1 and play on the counter. Not sure if Bednar or Vassell as the lone because Bednar SHOULD be able to hold the ball up to bring the others into play.
Bettsj2 Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton Davies Hobbs Cunningham Gallagher Wellens King Dyer Bednar Vassell Having watched Millwall against Pompey, they look frail. They're the kind of team that if we go at them we could take them apart. One thing is for sure, we really need to get the first goal.
Father Ted Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton Hobbs Vitor CunninghamAbe WellensGallagher King Dyer Vassell Subs: Weale, Berner, Morrison, Bednar, Howard, Waghorn, Moussa. Big Curtis is clearly not interested - drop him. Vassell looks better down the middle and it also forces us to play proper passing football!
MattyFromLE Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Weale Naughton Davies Hobbs Cunningham King Abe Wellens Gallagher Vassell Waghorn Would love to see how that worked. About 50/60 minutes bring super sub Lloyd Dyer on!
SMX11 Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 GK- Kirkland DR- Naughton DC- Davies DC- Hobbs DL- Cunnigham MR- Gallagher MC- Wellens MC- King ML- Dyer ST- Bednar ST- Vassell We looked a lot better in a 4-4-2 against Leeds.
Dylan Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton Davies Hobbs Cunningham Abe Wellens King Dyer Bednar Waghorn Subs: Weale, Morrison, Vassell, Gallagher, Oakley, Moussa, Howard. Think we should play a 4-4-2 away, either normal or diamond. Don't think our 4-3-3/4-5-1 formation works away. To do this, I'd play Abe on the right- I'm sure he's capable. I'd definitely start Waghorn who'd be fresh along with either Bednar or Vassell, depending on Vassell's fitness.

Bringing Vassell closer to the 'target' man was the difference. Bednar's heading worse that Howards and I'm not a big fan of Howard I've started to like Bednar, He seemed really up for it yesterday (prob. due to a spell on the bench). His heading is not quote as good as howards but I think there are few strikers have as good heading as Howard in build up play. However Bednar is alot more mobile than Howard and i think could be a real asset for us given a run of games. I'm all for signing him, especially if the fee is not too high.

dannythefox Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Kirkland (because sven likes him) it should be weale. Naughton Davies Hobbs (vitor if fit because hes svens first choice) Cuningham Abe Wellens King Gally Vassell (even if he plays shit sven will still pick him) Bednar
Adster Posted 27 December 2010 Posted 27 December 2010 Kirkland Naughton Hobbs Davies Berner Abe Wellens King Dyer Vassell Waghorn Subs: weale, morrison, cunningham, bednar, howard, gallagher, moussa. This, but with Gallagher in for Dyer, as much as i love Dyer, i think he is more useful coming off the bench in the last 25-30 minutes, as the last person you want to meet when you're a knackered defender is the fresh legs of Lloyd Dyer. Would also be nice to start Waghorn, and have him a run around for probably about 60 minutes being replaced with Bednar. Either this is Bednar starting and vice versa.
