Jackirius Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Freddie Sears has been on loan to S****horpe so hasn't been playing regularly for West Ham & Jamie O'Hara has not made one appearance for Tottenham this year!! Matt Derbyshire's goal/game ratio is over 1 in 3 for Olympiacos & over 1 in 2 for Wrexham before that. Plus, he's 24 years old. He played bloody well and scored at the weekend and has been putting in some good performances. My bad about O'Hara got him mixed up. Derbyshire still isn't great, 1 in 2 for Wrexham is hardly an achievement. You also forgot the one in ever 6.3 matches for Blackburn, 0 in 12 for Plymouth and 0 from 5 for Brum.
Bob Farley Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Charlie austin from swindon, 30 odd goals in 50 games, lower league i know but i reakon he will only get better, bit like brett pittman.
woody1983 Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 True, but he did start playing for Blackburns first team when he was 17. And I'd bet the majority of those 63 games were less than 15/20 min appearances. 10 goals in 16 appearances for wrexham is a good record if you ask me. I just hope we get young players with a future and a hunger to play and succeed with us! Rather than players finishing their careers with us purely for money.

Bob Farley Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 oh and theres this guy i heard of called max gradel, think we should have a look at him..
Bugg Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 why not? hes playing quality. Nothing wrong with it, it's just like 200 people have made that same recommendation in this thread. 200 is obviously an exaggeration but you know what I mean
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Flaming youtube players, two players who we found on youtube Kaebi and Kermorgant both turned out to be crap, Ibricic who Ah yeah, Hossein Kaebi, a guy that made a good fist of keeping Ronaldo / Figo quiet at the World Cup, but a failed Wolves trialist. And Kermorgant, a guy with a pretty fucking woeful scoring record at not all that good a standard. How you can bracket those two with the guy I suggested, who's playing regularly for a nation who's football side is most definitely in the ascendency has lead me to the conclusion that you are a Grade 'A' Dildo.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 That whole 'young and hungry' over 'one final paycheck arguement' statement is so over used, when it's not really relevant. Age, or where the player comes from, shouldn't matter, what should, is whether they are good or bad.
escos Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 I wonder how many people would be banging on about Charlie Austin had Swindon not been on sky on Monday with the commentators creaming over his every move. If we wanted a player Like him we would have kept Fryatt!

Age, or where the player comes from, shouldn't matter, what should, is whether they are good or bad. Good point it probably is over-used But, one of them has potentially a huge resale value and the other doesn't One can become a central lynch-pin of the team for years and the other can't what matters for this season is that they are good, what matters for the future is that they aren't about to receive a bus pass
lcfcbradyboy Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 i think tudgay would of been a good move. a good finisher in this league. Now wee need some one liked Danny Graham from watford (as mentioned) , Steve Morison from Millwall , Bechio from Leeds , Chopra from Cardiff one of them up front would cause some damage. but one thing i would like to see is gallagher droped. Some one like whittingham , snodgrass or taarabt on the wing instead of gallagher.

Age, or where the player comes from, shouldn't matter, what should, is whether they are good or bad. I wouldn't use Young and Hungry myself but i want players which are in their prime and actually want to play for the club, the phrase may be overused but it is an important one, a player who doesn't want to play for the club and is getting in the starting 11 each week could bring down the morale of the whole club and the players within, no one player is bigger a club. A player with passion and a want to win is the most important player and will benefit a club the most.
I am Rod Hull Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 Why would Becchio, Taarabt, Wittingham etc want to leave their clubs
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 January 2011 Posted 5 January 2011 A player with passion and a want to win is the most important player and will benefit a club the most. I think you're wrong to be honest. Liam Fox is 26. He plays for Livingston in the second divison of Scottish football and would probably insert a Coke can into his anus without hesitation for the chance to play for us. Juan Riquelme is 32. He plays for Boca Juniors in Argentina. He'd most probably be here for wages and wouldn't stick around for long. Which one would you be more pleased with as a signing? Hypothetical situation with hypothetical players, but you get my drift. A player's QUALITY is what Sven should be looking for at the minute (and I think he is), regardless of age. To add, just because a player is past their prime, it doesn't mean that they suddenly don't want to play. All players have the desire to win anyway, or they wouldn't be involved in the sport in the first place.

Well you could say the same thing about a bygone striker and a player like Andy Carroll who is on the top of his game and ask you who you would like. I would much prefer an eager player who is on the top of his game at the minute; i'm not saying a Scottish 2nd league player: to a Yukubu who would lets face it just be here for the money and wouldn't be overly interested in playing for the club.
harryboi72 Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Ive found a keeper called jesus corona who looks decent hes 29 and played 11 times for mexico. He plays for a team called cruz azul which ive never heard so i could see him coming to us.
BaddaBaddadaBAMBA Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 So, Morro's near enough packed his bags, said farewell and flew off to the Owls, which i think is a sad loss but a good deal for the club, we bought him for probably about 10-25k and sold him for 250,000 which will most probably go to Sven's Transfer Kitty. Another seemingly outward player is the fans favourite Bruno, or as i call him Bunsen, Berner. A key player last season, frustrated this to say the least, been kept out of the squad for a long time, in he comes against the Swans, scores and steadied the back four. If Bruno goes, we will undoubetly need to sign a left back, i posted earlier that Patrick Van Aanholt or Jloyd Samuel would be a good choice for a replacement. One in that seems likely either today or tomorrow is Kyle Naughtons permanent deal from Tottenham, on a 1.5/1.6 million deal and probably a contract of around 3-4 years or so, solid signing if it occurs, definatly got potential. Secondly, another in that Derek Fazarckely confirmed is that the club is looking at Yakubu, and we have opened talks with Everton. Now audacius as this bid is, it would be a big signing for the club and undoubetly bring in revenue from shirt sales etc. What is everyone's thoughts on the ins and outs?
Collymore Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Now Birmingham have signed Miller from The Gers, I wonder if Kev will be after move. I know there was a Phillips thread a while back (in the other forum) but was it not concluded that he would like to stay and fight for his place? I'm just wondering if tonights transfer may open the door again... Also I think Phillips is exactly the kind of player we need (someone to put the ball in the net)
