kyle09uk Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 If thats true then i want blackpool to get relegated even more now just because of Holloway! And i dunno just the thought of them three up top! any defence in the championship would be bricking themselves! hahaa! Vassel --- Yak ---- Blake
RizLCFC Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Should've put in a bid for Hammill @ 500k he is a no brainer, sadly with Blackpool having a bid accepted must be too late now even with Svens luring powers!
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Cheeky bid for Jay Spearing wouldn't hurt. £750K should do the job.
teblin Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Still think we are 3 or 4 players short. Think we need a keeper = competition for Weale as Logan isn't good enough. Alex Smithies? A Centre back = still think we need a no nonsense defender with a bit of experience to organise, even someone who has been promoted before. Clark Carlise? Centre mid = If one of the main 3 are missing think cover is a little weak and someone who offers a bit of power. Maybe Osbourne from villa?. winger/attacker = Ideally someone who can take set pieces. Commons maybe?

Don't know too much about Clarke Carlisle, as for Smithies I heard Huddersfield have turned down bids of £2-5m for him previously from Premiership teams, and Commons would be a good signing but don't think he will come to us, can see him slowly deteriorating his career playing for 1 of the Glasgow clubs in Scotland!
Bryn Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 I admire Svens audacity going after the big names... Can't help but think we could really do with some bodies in though. Some solid, attainable depth.
martyn Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 In The Sun today that Josh Wright from Scunny will hand in a transfer request. He ran the game at the Walkers (blonde number 16) and has looked tidy whenever I've seen him. Can provide some much needed quality cover for our central midfield.
Fox2323 Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Kevin Phillips has been told he can leave Birmingham he's worth a short term contract
cc_star Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Kevin Phillips has been told he can leave Birmingham he's worth a short term contract Possibly, it would be good to give Tunch some company in the treatment room
cc_star Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 CHARLIE AUSTIN. With Henry being little more than a pipe dream and Parker joining the Greek outfit I think he is one of the best shouts around, he's young only 21 & banging in the goals, because of his age there is plenty of room for improvement too, although I think the Waghorn saga shows we may have difficulty bringing players on... so perhaps we should just look at who's sitting on the Premier league benches and sign them instead Charlie Austin look like a player who knows where the net is scoring a ridiculous amount at lower levels and making the transition to league football successfully, he won't cost the earth & neither will his wages certainly a lot less than celeb-footballer on loan would cost for a couple of months and we'd have him for years. Personally I think we need to slim the squad a bit so as to avoid discontent spreading to the first team. Lamey, Moreno, Oakley & Howard should be allowed to leave with a LB and CM replacing them as squad players By the end of January we will know if making the play-offs is a real chance or not, and if its not I'd favour building for next year which means no more bigger name loan players, as well as trying to secure the services of Naughton whilst giving players like Waghorn a long run starting in the team
Nunny Fox Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Would love to see Punchion in Leicester blue. Dorrens from the Baggies would be a good shout. I think its key that Sven does not panic buy second rate has been Prem players that have nothing to prove in the game anymore & just here for a pay packet. We need hungry youngish players. I like his loan policy. No point in spending loads of money to get up then we are stuck in the prem with a good Championship team. ( we have been there before) Get loans to get us up and spend when we go up.
escos Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 CHARLIE AUSTIN. If we wanted a striker that looks good in league one we'd have kept Fryatt!!
dan77 Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Since Bent has just joined Villa, with Carew and Agbonlahor (duno if that's the right spelling) clearly ahead in the pecking order does this make heskey worth a shout? Just a thought, surely he wouldn't cost that much! Don't know if I'm allowed to post a topic with no evidence to back it up so delete if not!!
CosbehFox Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 as for Smithies I heard Huddersfield have turned down bids of £2-5m for him previously from Premiership teams, Injured last night. 2 to 3 months out. He's a superb goalie though.
SPF07 Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 Possible realistic targets that could definately improve the squad if not the starting 11 - (And for those who dont think it's realistic, none of the below have a different situation to Yakubu) *Danny Graham (Decent bid would leave watford with no choice due to financial situation) *Paul Konchesky (Not getting a look in at Liverpool since Hodgson departed, so much so that they are playing Johnson on the wrong side) * Niko Kranjcar (Steven Pienaar on way in means that his none existent place in the team becomes more unlikely) * Curtis Davis (Out of our hands but if no one comes in for him then we should land him)
J.Lisemore Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 With Henry being little more than a pipe dream and Parker joining the Greek outfit I think he is one of the best shouts around, he's young only 21 & banging in the goals, because of his age there is plenty of room for improvement too, although I think the Waghorn saga shows we may have difficulty bringing players on... so perhaps we should just look at who's sitting on the Premier league benches and sign them instead Charlie Austin look like a player who knows where the net is scoring a ridiculous amount at lower levels and making the transition to league football successfully, he won't cost the earth & neither will his wages certainly a lot less than celeb-footballer on loan would cost for a couple of months and we'd have him for years. It does bore me a little when we linked with ridiculous players such as Henry etc. Also agree with you about the squad, we certainly need to get rid of a few who are on the fringes. Even if it means only Oakley going, i'll be chuffed.
Jackirius Posted 19 January 2011 Posted 19 January 2011 * Niko Kranjcar (Steven Pienaar on way in means that his none existent place in the team becomes more unlikely) Good shout with Pienaar now going to them, though would be pretty pricey and again would he want to drop down?
ajthefox Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 I know this is where we're supposed to make suggestions but our squad is one with the quality of at least a play-off side. What we need is some consistency, that's it. We've proved on occasion but never for several matches in a row we can play really good stuff, and now we've got the Yak I'm sure we'll score a few more, but as I said we just need to go on a solid run of wins.
J.Lisemore Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 If we wanted a striker that looks good in league one we'd have kept Fryatt!! This guy has the potential to be alot better than Fryatt IMO.
ajthefox Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 This guy has the potential to be alot better than Fryatt IMO. So did Fryatt, if you get what I mean. if you didn't, I meant he never lived up to his full potential
J.Lisemore Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 So did Fryatt, if you get what I mean. if you didn't, I meant he never lived up to his full potential Yep, although to be fair to Fryatt he hasn't done bad at all. Its great to think 2 years ago, Austin was banging in goals for non-league Poole Town and now hes on the verge to the Championship
