chezza68 Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Here's the team i'd like to see against Hull GK Weale LB Berner CB Hobbs CB Morrison RB Naughton LM Cunningham CM Wellens CM King RM Dyer FW Howard FW Waghorn Subs. Logan,Vassell,Abe,Oakley,Moussa,Gallagher,N'Guesson. I know the Berner leftback & Cunningham left mid, but i think Cunningham is looks decent going forward & could put in some decent crosses into the box for Howard Waghorn & even King to get on the end of.Also could help Berner when defending. Dyer looks good o the right cutting in on his left foot. Also go 4-4-2 Get Waghorn playing off Howard for his flick ons etc. Ah well probably a bad idea but i'd try it. Up the City
Howard9 Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 GK- WEALE LB - CUNNINGHAM CB- DAVIES CB- VITOR/HOBBS RB- NAUGHTON CM - WELLENS CDM - ABE CM - KING RW- GALLAGHER LW - DYER CF- VASSELL
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 WEALE NAUGHTON HOBBS DAVIES CUNNINGHAM ABE WELLENS KING DYER VASSELL WAGHORN subs BEDNER MOUSSA MORRISON LOGAN HOWARD BERNER OAKLEY

Jakemoore Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Gonna be a battle away from home against NP: GK. Weale RWB.Naughton CB.Davies (if fit) CB. Hobbs LWB.Berner RDM. Wellens LDM. ABE RAM.Dyer CAM.King LAM. Cunningham ST. Vassel I like this formation, a lot of champions league sides use it (I.e) Barca, Real Madrid, Munich. It allows the fullbacks the freedom to get forward more. With the two CDM ready to cover if needed. Cunningham is there for support for Berner if needs be. The two CDM's provide KINGY the freedom to rome and hopefully score, the two wing forwards can cut in or make crosses. This formation can also work with Moussa, N'Guessan, Howard or Waghorn in attacking roles.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 A team that'll fucking destroy Hull would be great.
themotivator Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 cunningham is decent going forward, but he is no gareth bale, why does eveyone* want him on the wing all of a sudden? i personally think he should stay LB, but theres no problem with dropping him if you really think berner would do a better job. *ok, not quite everyone. i have seen it mentioned by a few though.
marbelladave Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Just another pointless excercise for another pointless game... Half our team do not know where they will be by the end of the month, a few will still be starters, some will be on the bench and some will be gone... Until Sven's reconstruction is completed successfully we remain in limbo, uncommitted players, little in the way of work ethic, all leading to poor performances. We have been told that money will be spent and the team rebuilt, but can we really do that in January? Get the right players, get them to gel quickly and we still have a chance at the playoffs, the League is that tight! Fail to get the right players and we could be in for a lot more of our recent poor form, from our current position that means a relegation scrap, not quite what was ordered! I am very uncomfortable with the current situation, there appears to have been little done to improve our current players or our team performance, it is as if we are marking time and banking everything on Sven getting it right in the next month or so. Sven getting it wrong really does not bear thinking about!
clarkeylcfc Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 CMoussa in for howard and push vassell up front and dyer in for gallagher moussas not been given a chance
Sylvie85 Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Weale Naughton Davies Hobbs Cunningham Abe Wellens King Dyer Vassell Waghorn Watched Hull against Reading on tuesday, their defenders can't handle pace. Having said that would of chosen Berner as a CB instead of Davies but Hull have a lad called Stewart on loan from Man Utd who could give usain bolt a run for his money, so not sure if it would be the right game for him. If you keep Stewart quiet then they look an average side. Very vulnerable at the back.

This would be the team for me too, we need a team who are really up for the battle as you know Pearson Will have them roughing us up again as he did in the 1st game..... hence no room for gally
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 How anyone can put Cunningham in the team after the Millwall showng is beyond me. Weale Naughton Morrison (only due to the other injuries we have there. We always concede when Morrison plays in the middle with Hobbs) Hobbs Berner Gallagher Wellens King Dyer Howard Waghorn Really hope we play 4-4-2 as with 4-3-3 we get easily get done the wings and generally get out muscled.

Apologies for picking on this one because a few people have made this point but do we really want to be picking players who are on their way out? If Morrison knows he's going there's no way he's gonna perform (or possibly won't be risked in case of injury). I'm sure I'd read that davies was definately out as well so it's a mystery who'll actually play centre half.

Morrison is hardly going to put on his shirt and go out there and give it his all. In fact it's debatable he has done so at all this season. But that's for another thread. The other problem I can see in most of the team choices, is that everyone keeps choosing a 'Pearson' team. Yes...players that Pearson knows the ins and outs of. Knowing how to expoit their weaknesses. Ok we don't have a replacement team on hand, but unless Sven can put out a side hungry to win, and we get on top of the game in the first 20-30mins, then Mr. Pearson and Co. may show us up. Especially as we are short on defence.

You're right in saying people are picking a 'Pearson team', and he might know weaknesses, but I think if we play 4-3-3 with the same team that played at Millwall he will expose even more weaknesses. Like we are shocking at defending balls into the box, and the two full backs never get any covering defending from the two wingers. Pearson's team have been physical before too, and I'd rather play someone like Berner at the back, with the experience and strength than Cunningham who is really quite light weight.
Walshy5 Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Weale Naughton Davies Hobbs Cunningham Abe Wellens King Dyer Vassell Waghorn Watched Hull against Reading on tuesday, their defenders can't handle pace. This accept drop cunningham for berner, but then we all know svens to much of a stubborn twat to do that and i think we,ve seen the last of bruno in a city shirt. Like the idea of Waggy down the middle aswell, thats where he done best for us last season after fryatts injury. But again sven wont think of that!
Gazza M Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 My team for the Hull game: WEALE CUNNINGHAM HOBBS MORRISON NAUGHTON DYER VASSELL KING WELLENS ABE WAGHORN SUBS: LOGAN BERNER OAKLEY MORENO GALLAGHER HOWARD MOUSSA I would go out and try to do to Hull what teams do to us. Lets be spoilers and go out with a mentality of not getting beat. We need to stop the away rot. So I would set up as a definite 4-5-1 and look to use Dyer and Vassell's pace on the counter attack. I think Waghorn is a strong lad and can hold the ball up well and also has a bit of pace for the counter attack too. I would have King getting forward when opportunity allows for it. Let Wellens and Abe get stuck in infront of the two centre backs. Negative tactics I know, but if it gets us something then it must be better than the shite recently.
ithuriel Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 GK............weale . DEF........naughton ................Davies .................Hobbs .................Cunningham . MID........wellens ...............king ...............abe . ATT.......gallagher ..............vassel ..............dyer . subs waghorn moussa kirkland howard berner morrison oakley . we can play good football but starting with a big man has not worked so start with pace players instead, dyer ands vassel.
MC Prussian Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 4-4-****ing-2, with Cunningham as LW: Weale Berner Hobbs Davies Naughton Cunningham Wellens © King Dyer Vassell Waghorn Subs: Logan, Morrison, Abe, Oakley, Moussa, Gallagher, Howard
Guest BlueBrett Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 I'd like to go 4-4-2 but then again perhaps away from home would not be the best time to pilot it so.. Weale Naughton Davies Hobbs Berner Yuki Wellens King Vassel WAGHORN Dyer Subs pretty much pick themselves but I'd like to see Moussa given a run out if we are losing or drawing after 70 mins.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 4-4-2 Attacking / 4-2-4 GK: Logan RB: Naughton CB: Hobbs CB: Davies/ Berner LB: Cunningham CM: King CM: Wellens RW: Vasell ST: Waghorn ST: Howard LW: Gallagher ATLAST WITH THIS TACTIC HOWARD CAN FIND SOMEONE!
sphericalfox Posted 30 December 2010 Posted 30 December 2010 Why are people choosing Davies? He's injured and will not be available. Also, as someone has pointed out, Morrison is very likely off to pastures new, is it wise to put him on the pitch. He's hardly going to want to put in a tackle and jeopardise his move, is he?
