Unit Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 How on Earth is this like the Akinbiyi signing? They're both Nigerian? Oh well, that's that then, they're practically the same player. CALLING BLUEBRETT.
StanSP Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I know this is hardly a comparison, but this whole thing reminds me a bit of the Akinbiyi mess... Over paying for a player who's form is completely unknown and who could be a risk for the amount we'll be spending on him. I know it's a loan and that in itself is a blessing in disguise, however, £55,000 a week for a club like us with only a relatively small amount of money to be playing with seems a bit fool-hardy. Then again, this is Yakubu... not exactly a nobody from the lower leagues. Still though, £55,000... 'Hardly a comparison' - what's your post all about then? 'form is completely unknown' - well, that's not true. It is known. The form isn't great at the moment because he wants first-team football, which he isn't getting at the moment. '£55,000 a week' - Who said we're paying £55k per week? Your post contradicted itself from start to finish .
Captain... Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Akinbiyi - 5m for unproven premiership striker to play in a well established premeirship team Yakubu - Loan for a proven premiership striker to play in a mid table championship team No comparison.
Daggers Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 I can't believe I wasted a minute of my life reading this, I was at least expecting someone somewhere to die... In a way, a bit of us all did.
MrSpaM Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Being reported in the LM this morning he's signed until the end of the season and will go straight into the squad against Preston http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/s-Deepdale-end-Yakubu/article-3095312-detail/article.html
Captain... Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 He's not coming he's to embarrassed.... He'll fit right in to our forward line with finishing like that
Alexikokopops Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Akinbiyi - 5m for unproven premiership striker to play in a well established premeirship team Yakubu - Loan for a proven premiership striker to play in a mid table championship team No comparison. Thank you, you've done my work for me. What an odd original post.

Callabinho Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Yakubu knows where the net is, an injury free Yakubu is lethal in the premier league. the only similarity between Akinbiyi and Yakubu is they are both hench.

ibbosuk Posted 13 January 2011 Posted 13 January 2011 Yakubu's journey to the Walkers Stadium Yakubu Ayegbeni first arrived in the country from Nigeria in 2002 for a trial with City's East Midlands rivals Derby County. At the time, the Rams could not afford to sign him and he moved to Portsmouth where he helped them win the Championship title with a rate of one goal every two games. In 2004-05, their debut season back in the top flight, Yakubu scored 16 times in 35 starts, ensuring Pompey retained their spot in the top flight. A few weeks later, Middlesbrough paid Portsmouth £7.5m for Yakubu and he forged a potent partnership with Australia international Mark Viduka which attracted the interest of Everton who, in 2007, paid £11.2 million and sealed a five-year deal which has 12 months to run. He scored 21 goals in his first season, the first Everton player to pass 20 goals since Peter Beardsley. Early in the 2008-09 season, he notched his 100th Premier League goal but the campaign ended prematurely when he ruptured an Achilles tendon in a November win at Tottenham. Last term, he featured infrequently but did play in He appearances have again been restricted this season and he has made only eight starts. Alternative Route OOOOOOOO GETTING CLOSE !!!!!!!!
