MeatyLCFC Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 great buy for us and people questioned vassell's fitness when he came here and now he's fit and ready for a sprint with anyone, so give it a couple of games and im sure our staff with get yakubu up too top scratch like they did with vassell.

MeatyLCFC Posted 11 January 2011 Posted 11 January 2011 Not you, genius "Yakubu to play the loan striking role at Leicester after agreeing switch from Everton." ooohhh my bad
Captain... Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 My first reaction, I must admit, was one of being completely underwhelemed. Unfit, off form, past his best and out of favour at Everton. Then I remembered we are Leicester, mid table championship side, this could be a fantastic signing (I'm glad it's a loan though I still have a few doubts). I would like to see him brought into the team gradually though, so that the players don't think that they are just filling in until Sven signs some bigger names, I think this was a big mistake he made at first with Kirkland, Davies, Cunningham, Bednar and Vassell all going straight into the starting line up and taking the place of established players leading to the likes of Morrison and Fryatt going and unsettling Berner and Weale. Also so that he can come on and run at tired defenders in the second half. In the long run I see a 442 Vassell and Yakubu up top, we would have to play Dyer on the Left as Berner doesn't provide the width there that Naughton does on the right, but who to play on the right and who to sacrifice in the middle is the question. Or a 433, Gallagher out Vassell on the right but pulling in-field more to support the Yak and create space for Naughton to provide the width, and Dyer on the Left hugging the touchline a bit more. A slightly unbalanced team, but playing to our current strengths.
HankMarvin Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Sven Goran Eriksson has pulled off a major coup by persuading Yakubu to join his promotion charge. Leicester boss Eriksson last night secured a deal for the Everton striker that will run to the end of the season. Leicester have been battling to secure a marquee signing this month as they bid to build a squad capable of promotion from the Championship. And the former England coach has managed to convince the Nigeria international to drop down a division – with the Foxes paying a substantial portion of his £80,000-a-week wages. Mirror...........

Apparently he's only on 50k It is good he's managed to persuade him to come. Shows ambition and a signal for other players that we are showing intent and we have the ability to bring high quality players in.

If that's true, which I doubt, then I rekon we're probably paying the 55k ish that's being banded about. These figures are worrying though, and hardly look like they would be sustainable.
shailen Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 He is not worth more than 25k a week max. I am really fearing us becoming the portsmouth of the league with free spending on eages like yakubus, and tbh i dont think yakubus all that. He can be lethal and is known for his finishing, but he goes missing alot in hames and is.very inconsitent. Hopefully he wont repeat that miss for nigeria in the world cup coz that was one of the worst misses i have ever seen. Nevertheless of his wages arent as much as suggested this is definately a great signing and could pay hige dividends. Hopefully it works out for us and the mighty yak!!
Leicester_Loyal Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Blimey 50k ish a week is a lot. Really hope we have a structure wage budget, sort of like Blackpool, but not as tight. I wouldn't want us to start throwing money about just because we have it. I hope he is worth the wages.

Mirror........... Apparently he's only on 50k 90% chance the Mirror's £80k/week figure includes the estimated goal bonuses Yakubu should receive when he scores 15 goals in each game the rest of the way, 10% chance they just made a typo using the number pad on the right of the keyboard.
stix Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Right, dont shoot the messenger cos i hope it isnt true but....one of the lads i go to away games with has just text me and the text reads 'bloke i work withs mrs works down at the city and Yakubu didnt turn up for medical yesterday' Read into that what you will because obviously reliable sources on here have said the opposite. Thought i would post anyway.
Houdini Logic Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Car blew up? Road closed? Flat Tire? Lost his keys? Even if it is true there could be hundreds of reasons.

I know and hope it isnt true or if it is then its because of one of the reasons you have suggested. Just thought i would post incase anyone else can look into it and shed some light on it. I dont know the guy who told my mate but my mate isnt a liar so have no reason not to believe him. Surely this should be up on the OS soon if its all done and dusted.

surrifox Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 the Telegraph report that he has been persuaded to a season long loan and have named his successor at Everton as Dieumerci Mbokani from Monaco for £ 1 million
davieG Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 I thought the medical was scheduled for today according to Stringer Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni will undergo a medical tomorrow (Wednesday 12th January) at Leicester City’s Belvoir Drive training ground ahead of a season-long loan move from Merseyside. BBC Radio Leicester’s Ian Stringer broke the news on his Twitter account following an article on the Sky Sports website and rumours from reliable sources on City messageboards. Not saying this is any more reliablle.
stix Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Maybe because he's having a medical today?? I thought it was today aswell as thats what stribgers twitter says
Ricey Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 I doubt he is on £80k a week like the Mirror stated. Evertons top earners are Cahill, Arteta and Pienaar. The reason Pienaar is leaving is because he wants a pay rise, if Everton gave him a pay-rise they'd also have to do the same for Cahill and Arteta...which they can't afford.
L.C.F.C. Posted 12 January 2011 Posted 12 January 2011 Revised yakubu chant: We signed the lad from Everton, the yak, the yak, Been out a while, but he's got style, the yak, the yak, He's black, he's blue, not 22, But scored back then, he'll score now too, Who needs Fryatt, when we've got Yakubu!!!! Thoughts???
