hackneyfox Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Thank goodness for that. He seems to think all the action will take place next week. http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/Sven-switches-sights-search-new-centre-half/article-3122120-detail/article.html
Babylon Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Woodgate First thing that came into my mind. What's Shittu up to? Didn't he sign a short contract with Millwall?
The Doctor Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Thank goodness for that. He seems to think all the action will take place next week. http://www.thebluear...il/article.html all most always does though. Once you get to the end of the transfer window, players in the prem who aren't playing and want out start to realise no team in the prem will take them and are forced to look either down into the championship or at a move overseas.
escos Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 First thing that came into my mind. What's Shittu up to? Didn't he sign a short contract with Millwall? Still at Millwall although out at the minute with a hamstring injury.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Gabbidon? Good shout that. Although we have a different manager now I wonder if we will make a cheeky bid for Ashley Williams again. Hope so, he is a beast at this level.
cc_star Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Woodgate? what a joke... I'd sooner stick Tunchev back in We do need a new CB because we only have Bamba, Hobbs & Tunchev as first teamers on the books with Vitor & Mee potentially leaving at the end of the season. I'd sooner spend the money on the academy than an ageing celeb, we need to be bringing through more players to 1st team standards. Or perhaps we just a defensive coach who can introduce, strangers Bamba & Hobbs to each other
Wymsey Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 I presume if Tunchev won't be able to play due to his injury, i wouldn't mind Amdy Faye from Stoke. He's transfer listed and he can also do the defensive midfield role like Abe does which seems to work well for the team. He's 32 though

NOT. Let's get promoted this year or next and try to be bigger and better than the dross clubs we have to play against week in week out now!
Guest BlueBrett Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 "I know Waggy has spoken to some clubs because I gave him permission to talk, but he knows that until Vassell is back 100 per cent we can't afford to give away anyone." As if Sven refers to Waghorn as Waggy!
m00nie Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Yeah, I'd sooner bring in younger players, and then do the same again next year, and then do the same again the year after, until we've gone nowhere and people refer to Leicester City as the new Crewe Alexander. NOT. Let's get promoted this year or next and try to be bigger and better than the dross clubs we have to play against week in week out now! or we could buy all oldies and loan players so that if we did get up this year or next we would have hardly anyone worth left to form a team to keep us up.. we need to balance it out and also think about stability and future..
Ashley Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Players I would like to see here. Ashley Williams, Curtis Davies, Jonathon Woodgate, Johnny Evans, Nordveit any of them for centre backs would be nice.
Petchy Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 I know everyone's going to hate this idea, but Sol Campbell. He is available, and he would be a decent short-term back up to Hobbs, Bamba and Vitor. Might also have an influence at training too.
RizLCFC Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Players I would like to see here. Ashley Williams - Would be fantastic but doubt he'll leave Swansea for another Championship team. Woodgate - Much like Tunchev, quality when fit but always injured! Nordtveit - Great shout, lads a big prospect at Arsenal. Davies - Question his comittment to the cause at City, seems we aren't a big enough club for him, soon as he had interest in him from other clubs whilst on loan here, his performances were poor. If we can't get anybody else in then I'd take him. DeMerit - Playing for Vancouver in the USA! Matt Mills from Reading would be a good signing, but then I prefer someone who can be an understudy to Hobbs & Bamba, so a young player could be the answer.

I'd like to see a left side centre back who just worries about stopping people scoring.

Petchy Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 Yeah, I'm not too keen on the idea myself, but it's just something I can see us being linked with.

There is no way I would ever want to see Big Gay Sol mincing around the Walkers.

Short term loan deals, or signing elderly statesmen of the game is the most short term a team can be. We'll be forever rebuilding if that becomes policy rather than just a tactic to immediately strengthen weak spots. Developing youngsters means you have at least 4 or 5 great years (if your coaches are good enough) and you can build a team around those creating a backbone of team. Youngsters who constantly don't make the grade isn't a reflection on the youngsters themselves, its a reflection on the processes within the club and the coaching set-up Saying that, I don't mind the loan signings for the temporary and seemingly urgent goal of getting promoted this year, but the second that looks improbable we should play our own lads (except for Naughton, who we should go all out to try & sign) and build for next year.
Jon the Hat Posted 20 January 2011 Posted 20 January 2011 There is no way I would ever want to see Big Gay Sol mincing around the Walkers. Yeah becuase Sol is well known for mincing around the pitch isn't he? Twat.

We have sent two or three youngster out in the last week or two on loan deals for development and to gain experience. We have brought in Andrea Mancini, a teenager who has at least three Italian clubs chasing his signature. BUT We also have to look at the first team NOW, and gather as much quality as possible!! and that does not mean I want Sol Campbell.
