If Richie is wise, he will know that Blackpool will struggle in the second half of the season once Charlie Adam leaves, and that joining them would be a big mistake as they are firstly a smaller club than Leicester and secondly we are going in the right direction, Blackpool will be back down to earth in the next few months! He can only leave if they swap him for Adam

cc_star Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 He is integral to our game, without him we wouldn't be anywhere near the passing team we are and we would also lose alot of the possession %age we've been so good at this season. He's not irreplaceable, but it would cost an awful lot to get a player so proficient at short & long passes and retaining possession like he does. He's obviously several classes apart but he's our version of Xavi

He'd slot in quite nicely where Adams is now, I think Blackpool have a good shout of staying up as well. I think there's probably some substance in this, we'll see if the attraction of PL football will turn Richie's head. I doubt we'll accept the bid though.

ballso Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 if it's true, i hope holloway is prepared to pay a fair whack and not offer us peanuts like he did for dj! not that i want wellens to go, i don't. he's probably our most important player - just hate how holloway tried to get players on the cheap, now when teams are sniffing around his players he wants stupid amounts of money!

Coupled with his age he may feel that this will be his best opportunity to play in the top division and although his weekly wage won't be fantastic, I am sure the bonuses for signing on, staying up etc. would probably make up for it. We will see, although some of his performances of late have made me have to eat my words a little, I still doubt he can cut it at the highest level.

Their 10k a week wages limit was one of the reasons they struggled to bring in players over the summer. I would be in no way surprised if Wellens was already on that here and a move would therefore be daft.
