Darkon84 Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Time for some seriously loud Richie chants at the next match
Guest Mee-9 Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 I'll put money on him staying. Do agree with Holloway about Adam. If Bent is worth 24m. Adam is worth about 15m.
Callabinho Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Time for some seriously loud Richie chants at the next match He doesn't show any signs of wanting to leave, he is the first to back his team mates up after a bad challenge, and the first to celebrate a goal!
cc_star Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 I'll put money on him staying. Do agree with Holloway about Adam. If Bent is worth 24m. Adam is worth about 15m. Dunno, only Drogba & Rooney have score more premiership goals than Bent... Also, he was poached in a kind of hostile transfer which always adds a %age of what could have been a 'friendly' transfer in the summer Adams is obviously talented, but its only half a season, nothing like the consistency that Bent has achieved
foxoffderby Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Can't understand why people are crying over Richie Wellens. Hes alright, has good games but has stinkers too. Hes in his earley 30's if we get a decent fee let him go hes not irreplaceable. I trust Sven to bring in someone with better quality than Richie Wellens. Richie is not a goal scorer, lacks pace and is inconsistent anything above £2million for a player who is soon out of contract and if you take his age into account I would take with open arms.
Jackirius Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 I'll put money on him staying. Do agree with Holloway about Adam. If Bent is worth 24m. Adam is worth about 15m. The thing about Bent though is he has proven himself to be a force in the Premier League, he has scored goals and played well every season and has played for a variety of clubs, whereas Adams is relatively new to the PL and unproven before this season, yes he has had a good first half of the season but he can turn shit a lot quicker than it took him to start playing well. He has never set the championship or SPL on fire which shows that he is just in a rich vein of form, and i doubt it will last for too long, probably about the same amount of time as it takes Blackpool to realise that their honeymoon is over.
marbelladave Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Yes he has played well of late, but no one is indispensable. If he were to go because Blackpool or anyone else makes us an absurd offer, and if he wants to go, then so be it. Play Yuki and King in front of the back 4, and give Gallagher licence to roam the middle of the park, releasing the Yak, Darius and Lloyd. It would however mean we need another midfield player to come in before the end of January, but I'm almost certain that will happen anyway I have suggested this many times in recent months... On recent form I would not like to lose Wellens, but should he go I think this would be very much worth trying. In reality, if he does go I think Sven will bring in a reasonably high profile replacement, could be good for us but might just be a bit disruptive if not the 'right man'.

With no Richie Wellens things will go wrong, For me he isn't about goal scoring it's what he does with the ball. The guy at this level is a genius and in this team at the moment he is my player of the season, he gets stuck in, he has good footwork, he can play accurate short passes as well as 40 wonder balls! His best attribute in my eyes is his ability to create space, ok so he doesn't run the show every week but recently he has been amazing! At the moment we cannot loose him, why do you think he is usually referred to as "one of the best talent outside of the premier league".
richardsfoxes Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 There's a slight difference between Bent and Adams here, bent has scored 82 goals in 5 seasons. Thats on par with Drogba and Rooney, thats why his price tag is so high with all mediocre teams par Spurs, so underrated its unreal.
Len Finsbury Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Sorry, I must be in a dream. One of our better players might have his head turned by Blackpool? Blackpool? Are we talking the same team here or have Blackburn and Liverpool merged into some kind of mega dream team?

Add to this he's an absolute nutter which adds that bit of bite we simply wouldn't have if Wellens wasn't here! For me he is actually indispensable in this team at present.....

I like Wellens just as much as the next man, but really hes nothing special. If he stays fine if he goes I won't be crying in my cornflakes like a lot people on here. He is replaceble though. Im quite happy with either outcome.
Kent Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 SSN is saying BP have rejected Adam's transfer request. Does this kill the Wellens rumour?
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Our best player. We would crumble. If so, you heard it here first.
ajthefox Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 it won't happen, I mean why would we let him go for starters? We are in a position where we don't need to sell anyone. not to mention I don't think Wellens would go.
dannythefox Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Dont think he will leave for blackpool there probably going to come back down if not this season defo next they had a great start to the season and good luck to them but carnt see them lasting. If he did go it would take a better team than blackpool to lure him away, as hes one of the best out the top flight hes going to be linked with alot of teams. As for blackpool its a backwards step he wont leave to go there.
MPH Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Adams will go for sure. Holloway knows that and we all do. By moving for players like Ritchie Wellens they are preparing for life after him although the wages could of course be the issue.....
Legend_in_blue Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Stating the obvious... Blackpool are tin-pot. Now that's out of the way it is only a matter of time before Blackpool begin their descent through the leagues. If Adam leaves they will not replace him with anyone decent. Impossible. This always happens. Players are poached by big clubs and no matter how much money you get in it's nigh on impossible to use it to get someone in of similar calibre. Wellens would be daft to go to Blackpool. Why? See the first line of my post.
Corky Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Stating the obvious... Blackpool are tin-pot. You seem to think every club apart from Leicester is tin-pot.
topharry123 Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 I've read a lot about he's in a rich vein of form, but a good offer and no-one would be too disappointed. I disagree. At the end of the season, yes that's a good assumption to make. Right now if he were to leave the team I don't think we could push for the playoffs this season as I don't think we have enough else in the center of the park. Yes we could bring someone in but they would probably not gel quick enough to make a difference. My view is that we do everything in our power to hold onto him from now, even if we have to double his wages. If we don't get promoted then let him go and rebuild with plenty of time until the new season. This is a crucial time in the season if we are going to make the playoffs, and we don't need to be replacing an in form player right now, even if his form has only been going for a few months.

Are we talking the same team here or have Blackburn and Liverpool merged into some kind of mega dream team? I heard they've made a big for El Hadji Torres, and also Glen Salgado.
CupidStunt Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 If Adams achieves the crazy amount of 10m, then is Wellens worth any less?, He cant be that far behind Adams in quality, in which case you would price him at the 6M-7M mark, and Holloway isn't going to pay that for him when you consider he was begrudged to pay 1.2 Million for DJ (Their record signing),and in which case it will turn into a media circus. He will want to pay around the 1.5 M mark. The Fu3king twat
whitlock Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Im sure somebody has already said this but i'd rather lose King than Wellens. Im sure somebody has already said this but i'd rather lose King than Wellens.
The People's Hero Posted 24 January 2011 Posted 24 January 2011 Yeah. Somebody had said it. It was you. Just before you said it the second time.
