Bob Weasel Fox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 The League Cup Final wins obviously, also the Brighton match to secure promotion and the Southend away match to win League 1. Craig made a good claim about the Man Utd relegation match, we went down with pride and got a lot of praise for it in the press afterwards. Good point, i think perhaps the moments when we go down etc and how the supporters respond is sometimes in a weird way just as memorable as the cup wins and play-off finals etc etc
Captain... Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the drawn wembley final against Middlesborough. It was a dire game, but Heskey scoring in the last minute was amazing one of my top memories up there with Crystal Palace. I can also confirm it felt like the ball slowly drifted off Claridge's shin in to the back of the net the whole Leicester end stopped, held their collective breaths then looked at each other for confirmation of what they were seeing for 10 - 15 seconds after it had crossed the line before going completely nuts. Watching the replay when I got home I fully expected to see this bizarre silence but it isn't there. It is weird to read so many other people experienced it and not just me.
Soccer AM Fox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Oldahm away in the League 1 season. Kasabian were in the crowd.
stripeyfox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 City 5, Cambridge 0 Filbert Street May 1992 What a night!
purpleronnie Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 City 5, Cambridge 0 Filbert Street May 1992 What a night! Yep, it would get my vote. We'd have beaten Man utd that night.
FoxyPV Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I've only vague memories of the two league cup wins and playing in Europe (thank you drug induced teenager years) but of recent times Max Gradel's 97th minute equaliser against MK Dons, Stevie Howard's late winner v Leeds, the 2nd leg v Cardiff and the first match v Man city in the FA cup this year.
Webbo Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Claridge's goal in the league cup replay at Hillsborough and then the final whistle. Not only had we won an actual trophy we'd also qualified for Europe, 2 things I never thought I'd see.
stripeyfox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Another top moment was Steve Walsh's headed equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal at Filbert Street.
FuriousFox46 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Craig Hignett's 90 min equaliser against Arsenal just joking I'm young so probably - Howard's header against Leeds. The Play-offs last year Bamba's 1 minute strike Capture of Sven.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Cardiff away in the Playoffs last season when King got the third. Theres a 2 second clip on the official end of season dvd which flicks to our fans in the corner- absolute mayhem. So emotional that night. Possible the best ever game I've been to full stop.
Austin Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Chelsea away in the cup was a belter other stand out moments are probably Howards header vs Leeds, 3-2 against Tottenham was pretty special too. Southend away in L1 was immense, just the whole weekend was banging
The Year Of The Fox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 What about beating Spurs in the cup a few years back?? 2-0 down at half time
Corky Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Yes, we were near the bottom of the table and Spurs in the top 4. De Vries had a stormer that night.
NGoloMode Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 What about beating Spurs in the cup a few years back?? 2-0 down at half time That was especially great for me living in London
reynard Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Has to be the play off final vs Palace. The way the ground seemed to go silent for a few seconds as we all realised what had just happened. Never forget it. For a totally bizarre game it has to be the cup victory of Shrewsbury when we used 3 keepers. Perhaps the greatest roller coaster of a game I've ever attended. Then there's Keith Weller playing against Norwich in white tights and still looking an amazing player. Finally the almost the best moment........ The time we almost managed to sign Cruyff. I don't think as a kid ever being more disappointed that we didn't manage to do it!
acooling08 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Being to young for the glory 90s under O'Neil, my best moments were probably: - Nalis volley against Leeds. - Sealing promotion with Mickey Adams in 2002/3 I think it was.
gazfox9 Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 claridge's goal in the last minute of extra time at the play off final This one for me too, steve walsh's 2nd to beat derby in 94 was close, but i was right behind this at the tunnel end. it was one of them that you knew was going in as soon as he hit it. It seemed to take an eternity to hit the back of the net though. Unbelievable moment.
shailen Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 When we get promoted this season, come on you foxes!
SystonFox Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 Hey Stu, so you know what I mean ? Was one of the strangest things, it was like there was a few seconds of silence, never expierienced anythink like it since. Every city fan who was at the game will tell you the same, I was 9 and when it bounced for claridge it was slow mo and I remember looking at big nigel martyn seeing him rooted and the ball cushions in the corner, everything after is a blur but I end up five or six rows back from where I'm meant to be,yes back! I was thrown backwards in all the joy. Took me ages to find the old man afain
I am Rod Hull Posted 31 January 2011 Posted 31 January 2011 I couldn't be more jealous of the people who were in Cardiff on that night, but we lost, so im not....
Tom17LCFC Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Only 17 so not got as many memories as most of you, but has to be cardiff away like a lot have already said. I can't explain the feeling when Kingy put us 3-1 up on the night. Amazing how much passion watching a bunch of men kick a ball around makes you produce. Always hated Spurs, since '99 at Wembley when I was 6/7 and a group of spurs fan threw bottles at and around me and my dad, so when De Vries snatched a last minute winner against them...pandemonium!!!
RizLCFC Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Kingy putting us 3-1 up v Cardiff. Howard header v Leeds. Elliotts two headers in cup win over Tranmere. Nallis Volley v Leeds. Arphexad v Arsenal in the penalties and then Fulham in the cup. Many there and many more in my head. Can't pick a favourite. N'Guessan v Swansea first game of last season was a great great feeling!
stripeyfox Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Not sure if it's been mentioned but watching arsenal go 4-0 up at newcastle reminded me of that glorious day at Pride Park when we raced into a 4-0 lead in fifteen minutes.
shailen Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Not sure if it's been mentioned but watching arsenal go 4-0 up at newcastle reminded me of that glorious day at Pride Park when we raced into a 4-0 lead in fifteen minutes. Ahhh the times when we were unbelievable at headers
stripeyfox Posted 5 February 2011 Posted 5 February 2011 Ahhh the times when we were unbelievable at headers Heskey 2, izzet and Marshall? Can't remember for sure?
