SMX11 Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 You don't see the point in having better players? No I meant that the current lot are more than good enough, there is no reason to upset the current players by bringing in more people in to the area we have most cover for. Bamba Hobbs Mee Vitor Berner/ Lamey as a last resort More than enough imo.

They would be off in a minute to another team if they got a better offer, so why should we show any loyalty to them? If we have the chance of improving at team then you should take it. Forget some over paid footballer might throw a wobbly and do what is best to reach the end goal. Mee and Vitor are on loan, what are they going to do, hand in a transfer request? Lamey is garbage and Berner will probably bugger off in the summer anyway. Hobbs has been woeful so far this year and Bamba is still an unknown quantity despite his good start.

Hopefully we sign another centre back. I hope Hobbs finds his form and Vitor gets himself fully fit as we'd then have some decent options.

I am not being sentimental at all, infact I have been in the camp of lets get rid of Fryatt, Howard, Oakley, Berner etc because they aren't good enough. But imo bringing in young players for young players isn't going to improve the consistancy issues with our defence. I agree that Hobbs has be below par this season but by sticking by him, it will give him the belief to improve. There has been a lot of critisism of Ben Mee as well, bar the first penalty I thought he had a reasonable game. He lucked far better on the ball than Hobbs and passed the ball pretty well (although he did try to be over ambitious occasionally). I am not against signing Jefferey Bruma but I don't think he is the type of player we require.
Babylon Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 But imo bringing in young players for young players isn't going to improve the consistancy issues with our defence. It will if they are better players.
SMX11 Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 It will if they are better players. Not necessarily but I am not going to continue to argue over such a trivial issue, at the end of the day we want Prem football and if Sven does it with Bruma or not I don't care. I will get behind anyone in a Leicester shirt
hackneyfox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Hardly trivial though is it, in fact it's the dividing point on this board. There are those (and I appreciate what you said about Fryatt et al) who seem to complain about every new player who comes in, how they will destabalise a team that got to the play-offs last season. How they are too old, their legs are gone, they are looking for a last payday, the Thais only want to sign them to raise their own profile. Then there are those who believe that Sven is doing a great job, that we're playing the best football seen in years and that due to the bad start we reaaly have no time for patience if we are to go up this season. I know which camp I'm in.

I think I had better go and lie down, and re-evaluate my thoughts on football. Could it be that the person what rote this nose nuthing abaht football. Or maybe it's becos Bruma wood be a lownee and hees agenst lownees. Ay up yuth, ain'tit crossed yer moind that if we edim fer the rest of the season and ee wer brill mebe Sven could bie im.
Asherz Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 anyone who slates city really needs to take a step dad and look at the position we was in 5-6 months ago.... and how we are... this is all thanks to sven and him sorting out a team that lacked any kind of team work and confidence... the loanees he has bought in are doing the job... a job that a team a few months ago couldnt do so in theory you should all just stfu crying about loanees will wreck the team...unless of course you want league 1 football next season and to have a manager who cannot and will not lead us anywere and bring in the quality we deserve.. sometimes dispear being a leicester city supporter and reading this forum
CosbehFox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 I am not against signing Jefferey Bruma but I don't think he is the type of player we require. I'd love to have a side full of young English lads from the Academy or lower leagues but it's not going to happen. At least two thirds of the promoted teams in the past three years had a heavy reliance on loanees. Bruma comes in, does a job, we're in the Premiership....then ol'Yak and Naughton wouldn't mind signing a permo deal.

Nunny Fox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 I see no problem with loanees, Why spend money and gamble to clubs financial future if we dont go up. Just cuz we have a bit of cash now it doesnt make up Man City, We still need the club to be finically viable and the money we have coming in is nowhere near prem amounts. I do however understand the argument but If we can get top defenders like Bruma to the club on loan and have a good look at him its only good for the club. Some of the names being battered about on here are ridiculous we are LCFC for god sake!!!!

By the 'type of player' I meant that we require a more experienced centre half, one that is pretty verbal on the pitch and preferabley left footed. I am certainly not questioning his ability or your unquestionable mountain of football knowledge but it is my opinion and it is valid like yours. I am certainly not against loan signings.
sbfox Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 lmfao finally someone who see`s it from the same perspective!!!!!!!!! you sir are a ledge... to many scrauny ***** on here who think football is the same as football manager and think they can do better than sven coz they have got leicester into the champion league and bought david villa and iniesta for leicester! 'Scrauny *****'? 'Ledge'? 'Champion league'? Seriously? This is the education my tax is paying for? If people thought that football 'was the same as football manager', people would be complaining that the Thai's hadn't spent millions on an overrated, ageing Premiership has been. Instead, (some) people are a little concerned that we have too many young loanees coming in at the moment. For the record, I'm VERY happy with our new boys and happy we're not risking massive amounts of money at the moment. However, there is room for people to hold the opposite opinion. Also, 'scrauny *****'? What?
muzzy1981 Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 Not the end of the world not getting Bruma IMO. Hopefully Vitor will be back soon, he's a tidy player and suits the way we play could play well with Bamba too. Mee is unproven but doubt Sven would have threw him like he has if he didn't rate him. Hobbs can also do job for us in this league. Looking forward to seeing Van Aanholt too! Get in to em! IN SVEN WE TRUST
clarkeylcfc Posted 1 February 2011 Posted 1 February 2011 lmfao finally someone who see`s it from the same perspective!!!!!!!!! you sir are a ledge... to many scrauny ***** on here who think football is the same as football manager and think they can do better than sven coz they have got leicester into the champion league and bought david villa and iniesta for leicester! so true

Nick Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 http://www.mirrorfoo...icle687459.html and Leicester hope to sign Chelsea defender Jeffrey Bruma on loan following the Blues' deadline day capture of Benfica centre-back David Luiz. Full story: the Sun
MC Prussian Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Bruma or Not Bruma, we're slowly turning into the Championship's Chelsea FC.
davieG Posted 2 February 2011 Posted 2 February 2011 Merc Sven-Goran Eriksson says he might make a second bid to sign Dutch defender Jeffrey Bruma when the loan window opens in a week's time after missing out on the centre-back on transfer deadline day. The Leicester City manager was trying to bring in the 19-year-old on loan from Chelsea before the 11pm deadline but ran out of time. However, speaking after an Andy King goal set up City's 1-0 victory at Sheffield United last night, Eriksson said he might try to revive the loan. It did not go through on Monday because Chelsea would not release Bruma until they had completed the signing of Benfica's David Luiz. They finally submitted the documentation too late for City to complete the signing. City had tied up their loose ends and Bruma agreed to sign, and was left frustrated the deal had not gone through. "I had signed for Leicester City," he told a Dutch newspaper. "Chelsea had only to send the papers, but they have waited too long there." Eriksson said last night that he might revisit the loan later this month. "It was very close but I think there was a lot happening at Stamford Bridge between 10 and 11pm," said Eriksson. "What I heard is the clearance from Benfica (for Luiz) came just three or four minutes before 11pm. They wouldn't let anyone out until they got someone in, and I understand the difficulties. But we will see in one week's time if we are going to do anything or not. It might still be possible." Eriksson also said he fielded an inquiry about one of his players late on Monday night and a deal was considered, but also did not happen. He refused to name the player but admitted it was linked to the Bruma deal. It is likely it was either Jack Hobbs or Bruno Berner. "Yes, there was interest but I cannot say for who," he said. "We would have done two deals on Monday if the first one had gone through. We would have done another one as well, not taking in or selling, but a loan." Eriksson admitted, if he does land Bruma, he will have a job to dislodge his two current centre-backs, who were outstanding at Bramall Lane last night. "The goalkeeper and the two centre-halves were brilliant," said Eriksson. "A couple of months ago we would have lost that game. "The whole team defended very well and the opponents put us under a lot of pressure, and, although we were a little lucky at times, it was a good win."
