He is what he is, Some people like him some don't. I don't know what people expect from local radio.

Might come out with the odd stupid comment, however, he is a Leicester fan, loves the club and I think him and youngy compliment each other well. So to call him a 'twat' is strange.

He didnt, he called him a knob.

Yeh, nice topic. Stringer is a great commentator compared to most of the other drivel which other teams have to put up with, he is passionate and shows a bit of emotion... Really that wrong?

Many people on here have different views on stringer, however, I think the majority think that his sidekick (Alan young) talks a lot of sense and quite often contradicts what stringer says.

Wouldn't mind his job though, getting paid to watch all city's matches!

It seems from this forum that he could be described as Bovril! You either love or hate him. Personally as I live and work in London I find I listen on line to him and really enjoy his enthusiasm. He says it from a fans point of view, usually slightly biased but occasionally gets it wrong. But you can't deny he loves the foxes & that for me is more than enough.

Good post. Have to agree.

I like him. Occasionally listen to the other team's radio on foxesplayer, and there's no enthusiasm most the time, I like it when Stringer goes a bit ott. He's a fan, like the rest of us, and he does a good enough job keeping us informed in games and goings on at the club via his twitter.

Personally can't stand him. Cringeworthy commentator, terrible interviewer and seems to think he's further in bed with the club than he is, he acts as though he has all the inside information but gives out very little.

I completely understand why you may have to have an arrogance about you in his trade but you have to be able to back it up with being quite good at it. But the thing is, he does have passion and is clearly a big Leicester fan which means I can't full heartedly hate the bloke (also because I've never met him and he could well be a nice chap.....he just comes across as a tit).

having missed a couple of away games this season ive had to listen to it on radio leicester, is it just me or is ian stringer a bit of a twat?

That will ruin Ian Stringers day for you to think that of him.

Just incase you are in any doubt, you are incignificant, your opinions are of no interest, nobody knows if you are now alive or dead or cares.

I like him. Great enthusiasm, genuine fan, interesting to listen to.

I have no idea what you're expecting from a commentator but you should try listening to a few of the other local commentators.

Ian Stringer is the link between the game and all those fans around the world who can't be actually there.

If you don't want to listen to him, switch off and go to see Derby or Forest or Coventry. After watching what rubbish they've served up, then you might want to come back to Ian S.

His informative relaxed commentaries are a joy to listen to - especially when we are winning. He has to be, and is extremely fair in his comments and he only shows a glimmer of excitement and the slightest of hint of a bias in favour of Leicester when we score a goal at which point, I occasionally have to turn the volume down for several seconds so that my speakers don't blow up.

He also allows Alan Young to make very astute observations about the game and other interests. Ian Stringer is OK

But if you want to listen to Leicester, you have no choice, you have to listen to Stringer.

My only real criticism is that he doesn't stick to telling what's happening on the field, but slips into odd discussions, and you sit there listening, thinking "I don't care about his opinions or these diversions, for fox sake just tell me what's going on". Often he's almost missed a goal by taking his eye off the ball. Very frustrating. Oh, and especially as the game gets nearer the end, the number of times he reminds you about the phone-in.

If the ball's being passed around the defence or there's just a scrappy midfield period going on it can be not very interesting to talk about. You're just going to be saying defenders names over and over. He does have his flaws i'll admit that fine, but we could be doing a lot worse trust me.

Yes, if you can't get to the Walkers for whatever reason, then you should certainly try and fork out money to go and watch one of our rivals. What a ridiculous statement!
