Happy Fox Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-News-Sheffield-Wednesday-are-preparing-a-300-000-bid-for-Leicester-striker-Steve-Howard-article728274.html Gary Megson is preparing a £300,000 bid for Leicester striker Steve Howard. Sheffield Wednesday boss Megson wants Howard, 34, to help boost a promotion push in League One next season. The former Derby and Luton forward has fallen out of the picture under Sven Goran Eriksson and Megson is ready to pounce.
reynard Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Good move all round but I doubt we would get that much for him.
JJS84 Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 If its true, good move for City, good move for steve. He's just not going to fit in next season, will wish him well and fondly remember him for some great goals. Leeds two years back, think it was the best celebratory moment Leicester has had for a good long while.
bigneville Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 If that price is true, then this is a good deal all-round. Steve Howard isn't going to be part of the plans next year, and if he can get first team football, we should allow him that rather than sitting as a back up player here! Thanks for your goals Steve, and go enjoy first team football in league one.
norfolkfox222 Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 I really cant understand why some fans hate him so much, yes i realise hes no 20 goal a season and lightening quick striker, but hes given us all some great memories. Thank you Big Steve
sphericalfox Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 I think this was mooted even back last year when Sheff Weds were still in the CCC. If he had been there perhaps they could have looked at being in promotion contention. I hope he has another year in him and he can do the business for the Owls. Also at that sort of price we should be snapping Mandy's hand off!
Matt Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 A shame I like Howard but I think his time is coming to an end here.
Austin Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Good move for both of us .. Wish him well if he does leave, always liked him. SUPER, SUPER STEVE!

Thank you Big Steve I don't think that many do, he probably gets less boos than Yakubu anyway. He's just too old for this level now.
Ambitious Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Good, never liked him, never wanted him, never rated him.
Haydos Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Probably a good deal all round. £300k is steep for a 34 year old but fair enough. Good luck and all the best if this does go through though. Thanks for the Playoff 2nd leg anyhow Stevie
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Good luck Steve, thank you for the memories. Love steve to bits cos he's given it all.. I've always maintained that his goals to games ratio has been surprisingly poor, but he's made up for this in other ways. Good luck to him, I guess this would be his last move
StanSP Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 I love how the Mirror is a god-send for players we hate, but when it's rumours about good players coming in, it's just a load of crap Anyway, if this story is true, it's a fair deal. Howard's been a good servant to the club, especially in the League One season and has got some important goals even in Championship. I don't think I'll ever forget his hat-trick at West Brom or his memorable header against Leeds. 300k is a good price for him. Super Steve

Good luck and all the best if this does go through though. Thanks for the Playoff 2nd leg anyhow Stevie His performance at Cardiff was immense... Shame he got stupidly sent off a few weeks earlier and missed the home leg.. I think if that hadn't happened we would have probably won over the two legs
DB11 Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 His goal against Leeds is without a shadow of a doubt the best moment / celebration I've had as a Leicester City supporter.

You obviously weren't at wembley when clagger shinned in his 119th minute winner against palace, or when stevie Thompson brought us back to three all against Swindon in the play-off final. Truly magical times...
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 would be a good deal for both sides. 300k for a 34 year old who will warm our bench is good on our behalf. on their behalf they get an experienced striker, who will do a great job in leauge one, batteling, winning flick ons for clinton morrisson
Pegosteve Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Let him go and thank you for that special moment against Leeds 2 seasons ago that last minute winner was a highlight of the season!

Truly magical times... No, no I wasn't. Hence why my mini profile on each post says "Supported City Since: 2002"
Corky Posted 27 April 2011 Posted 27 April 2011 Him squaring up to the Bristol Rovers keeper was memorable.
