Babylon Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 The same reason we got Bamba for 250k. He's a useless sack of shit?
Bert Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 you're tight every player has a price, problem is you haven't met Maynards. We have met his valuation. There's no way he's worth what you lot think. Your club are just being greedy. £5m for a player out of contract, after a big injury is crazy, and the indications are that may not be enough. I hope we don't get him, and he leaves you for nothing.
Woollett's Wellies Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I do like to think of other clubs fans coming on here and reading this shit. The only problem is they'd probably think they were caught in a mobius loop.
artursteppe Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 we don't need the money Good, so if you don't need £5m, 'cos the owner is so rich, why doesn't he just give your manager £5m or even £10m to spend on new players, 'cos he is so wealthy and then have a chance of promotion and playing Prem football and be able to keep Maynard anyway for ever. I'll tell you why, 'cos it just doesn't work like that.
Itsthejoeker Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 you know f all about our club or our owner, he doesn't need the money the club doesn't need the money we've said we won't sell to another championship club the we won't sell to another championship club yes it is that simple and if you even new a tiny 1% about Bristol City Football club you would understand that, You say "what sven wants sven gets" Well What lansdown says goes and he has said we will not sell to a championship club, If maynard hands a transfer request (which he won't because he is one of those rare footballers that have honor) then we might consider a offer You lot call us deluded well sorry its you lot who are deluded if you think the money you are offering is even tempting the club the latest rejection should tell you that, there was no debating no 24 hours to think about it it was a flat No not for sale, The club have only made information available on our web site they haven't said to the papers or called a press conference to say he's not for sale just the clubs website Why? not because he's for sale like some of you deluded lot think but because our club always keeps us up to date on whats going on and have never lied to us that why our board and owner gets 99% of the fans backing there is never any discontent from our fans aimed at our board We don't need the money but we still sold Hobbs? and Bamba looks like he might be going as well.
Marmite Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 We have met his valuation. There's no way he's wirth what you lot think. Your club are just being greedy. £5m for a player out of contract, after a big injury is crazy, and the indications are that may not be enough. I hope we don't get him, and he leaves you for nothing. Are you saying we have had a bid accepted Bert ?
Kent Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Are you saying we have had a bid accepted Bert ? No, he's saying we have bid 5m which is already more than he is actually worth and that Bristol City's valuation of the player is ridiculously inflated.
Bert Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 For those who will take the post the wrong way and can't read, that's not me saying we've actually met their asking price. That's me saying that we've already made a bid in my opinion more than what the player is worth.

Lot's of money here, it's Leicester don't you know.

Monkeh BCFC Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I'm trying to think of this the other way around???? If King was in the last year of his contract and we were offered £5million by lets say..... Bristol City. I for one would sell and say thanks very much we'll go and sign 2 players with the money. Thats what I cant get my head around. Bristol City DO NOT have a strong enough squad to mount a serious challenge for promotion. Yet if they took the £5million for Maynard and reinvested it in 2 or 3 players it would increase the strength of the team. He alone is not going to get Bristoi promoted, where as he would be the cherry on our thai fishcake! Any of you BCFC fans posting on here, can you answer me one question? What is Keith Millens transfer budget this summer? I may not have all the facts here so don't slate me, but, I don't expect it to be over £5million. Yet by selling Maynard with the intention to reinvest the revenue, you could double your transfer budget. As much as you would like to think you are on the up with rich owners, it still has to be done one step at a time. We at Leicester are very fortunate that we built a great stadium in 2002 and have a solid fan base so that all we need now is the team to push on. I dont think Bristol City are there yet, maybe in 2 or 3 years when you have the stadium and are filling it. Until that time you are very much a investment risk. Which is why I think by not selling you are shooting yourselves in the foot. Look at Southampton. Even though they have only just came up from League 1, they are in a good position to push on because of the stadium/fanbase etc. Selling Maynard now for £5million is too good an opportunity to pass up to take you forward. he hasn't got a transfer budget if Millen wants a player he asks the chairman who then tells lansdown and then he funds it like he did with woolford pitman and stead, we don't bid stupd money for players like yourselfs, and for the clown who thinks you've met our valuation.......why haven't we accpted your bid? you haven't met it and you won't meet it as he's not for sale to a chmpionship club we're not being greedy we're being stubbon there is a massive difference
DB11 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 and for the clown who thinks you've met our valuation.......why haven't we accpted your bid? you haven't met it and you won't meet it as he's not for sale to a chmpionship club we're not being greedy we're being stubbon there is a massive difference You need to reread what he said. He even clarified it

That's me saying that we've already made a bid in my opinion more than what the player is worth. I agree Bert but that's the climate we are in I think at the moment, it's a stagnant market place and the only way of generating any movement is to invest heavily. It's looking the same in the Prem for British talent between clubs........ I do wonder what little striking acquisition from afar Sven may acquire for such dollar....... (Disclaimer: I would like to point out that the above statement is not racist and that I fully understand that people from 'afar' may indeed not be 'little' or that their height may impact on their footballing value to Mr. Ericsson. Thankyou)
BCFC Fan94 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 In fairness Maynard is worth more than Mills so I'm not surprised we've turned down a bid of 4.75M.

Aww, touch a nerve did I? I'm pretty sure if we bid £10m it would be accepted. Like I said, hopefully we'll not get him, and he leaves you greedy, arrogant, ambitionless lot for nothing. We might be spending big money, but that's because we want to get in the premier league and not potter about just above the championship relegation spots for the next 10 years.
John Matrix Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 so know were going to just start measuring prices on who's the most expensive person you've bought last. **** contract lengths and other factors. just "i think he's better than that other player wot you bought" ok good to know

I know he's a clever businessman. He didn't get that way by throwing money away. 2.I'm obviously looking at this post from another dimension as I don't see anything in my post which says 'What Sven wants is what Sven gets'. 3.What your club has actually said is 'We do not wish to sell to another Championship club. Here's a link to your O.S. http://www.bcfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10327~2387236,00.html 4.In my post I do not say you're 'deluded'. Merely that in your own posts you are letting emotion get in the way of proper analysis. 5. Oh! and. Try reading the last line where I say I don't think we'll sign him. When I see people throwing accusations like 'you know **** all' about. I know that the poster has reached the limit of their mental capacity and needs a quiet period in a darkened room.
