Rusko187 Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Oh dear. It's turned into a big willie contest again. Are you the one who said 4m + Waghorn ? We all knew that was absolute bullshit, and even if that was the bid it would have been treated with the disdain it deserves. Why the hell would we want Waghorn ? He wouldn't get a game. The fact of the matter is that your club cannot afford Maynard, that's the bottom line, hence the poxy bids. In the know my arse. I knew this image would come in handy someday.
Spudulike Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 It's a tad unfortunate that educational standards in Bristol are very poor with some of the worst performing schools in the UK. Couple this with Ian Holloway accents and it's easy to understand why no one takes them seriously. Awriiiiight me babbers
wurmer Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I think we need to show a little humility. It wasn't that long ago that we hadn't got a pot to pee in, had players not being paid, opposition fans mocking the East stand and every decent player we found sold for a handsome profit. Just because our side is being heavily invested in this summer (for one year only at these levels I'd guess if we don't go up) let's not get all Billy Big with clubs we have no reason to dislike. I would love Maynard at Leicester but I have admiration for their desire to acheive their ambitions with their excellent goalscorer at the helm. It's nothing to do with a lack of humility, if someone from any other club comes on here mouthing off and acting like a tool, then they deserve everything they get in response. Nowt to do with us being 'Billy Big', just responding to twats.
dpjfox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Sven has admitted that we are close to signing a striker (we now know its not Lita), im sure the club wouldnt wish to announce an average signing (say Derbyshire no offence) prior to a prestigious match, im still hoping for Maynard (or Yak)

He's just an overpriced football league striker. Don't get me wrong, I think he's pretty good, and I would definitely like to see him sign for us, but I don't think he's the type of player that deserves a load of fanfare and festivities upon arrival. People are talking about Robbie Keane. I think that's the sort of name that counts as a marquee signing.

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Is this marquee signing being unveiled today actually playing? Is there a top player out there called "Tent" because that really would be a marquee signing
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Japanese stricker Wig Wam will be Leicesters marquee signing ;-)
kingfox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Wig Wam thought players from that area start with dong and end with ding.
Basil Brush Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Is someone definately being unveiled today? Its looking that way. My money is on Keane.
ozleicester Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Japanese stricker Wig Wam will be Leicesters marquee signing ;-) Bam! gonna make him my man
Austin Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Its looking that way. My money is on Keane. It's Gelson and Ball being unveiled.
Raw Dykes Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Is this marquee signing being unveiled today actually playing? Don't get your hopes up - it might just be baseless speculation, but people are talking about a big signing being unveiled either before the Real Madrid match today or at half time. It has been mentioned that we're spending £8.5m on someone, and Sven has said we're close to signing a striker. Robbie Keane's name is being thrown around. I very much doubt that he'd be playing today, but we might see him at the stadium. As I say, probably best not to expect too much, then you can avoid disappointment and possibly be pleasantly surprised.
Raw Dykes Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Forget the marquee signing. It's apparently Fernandes and Ball. Two players we already knew were signed. Who in the name of Mark de Vries is our new striker? I need to know! NOW!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 How much I'd love to see MDV back. What a player. Tommy English - what a swap with Jim Melrose all those years ago, a Gordon Milne classic blunder
