Stevie Synex Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Are Maynards grandparents the ones that make wine gums? Heard a rumour Has BCFC insider been on the winegums??
Kent Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 That being the case, would it be a goer to play Vassell in the middle? He looked quite potent yesterday, capable of very fast bursts, and many have said that they think he'd be better used down the centre. We have other options too for the central position - Howard, Schlupp and Kermogant - which gives a variety of styles which can be deployed depending on the circumstances/opposition. I doubt it, we know that Sven is actively looking for a striker and will more than likely get one in.

Kent "I doubt it, we know that Sven is actively looking for a striker and will more than likely get one in." But if he doesn't get one who he can throw straight in next Saturday, then he has to come up with some formation from within the current squad. My question really is - does anyone think Vassell could be prolific enough if played down the middle. Is he worth a try?

I would sooner play Dyer than Vassell,Vassell to me looks all at sea in that right position....but if i was to play him anywhere, it would be as our striker , though i just don't think Sven will play him there.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 I think Vassel is worth a try down the middle. He has speed so he must be difficult to handle, he has a shot on him & if others got close to support I think he's an option.
Happy Fox Posted 31 July 2011 Author Posted 31 July 2011 We desperately need another winger, if were contemplating playing Vassell through the middle
psychonaut Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 We desperately need another winger, if were contemplating playing Vassell through the middle As it looks like 4-3-3 is going to be the formation of choice, I'm really quite suprised we havent brought in a winger. Yes technically Nugent is a winger and was great for PNE in that position, but I really think in contrast with with the midfield right wing is an area of weakness. Maybe sven is happy with Vassell/Dyer being the 2 fighting it out for that position. Personally I would like to see 4-4-2 especially with the quality we now have in midfield. Fernandes/Abe holding the midfield with danns and wellens/johnson and king playing behind the 2 strikers.

smudger63 Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Nicky Maynard will sign a new 3 year deal with Bristol City F.C BY Friday 5th of August 2011 and will be anounced on the official bcfc website on Sat 6th of August 2011 for 25k a week and a clause in the contract of personal terms stating that should a prem come in with a bid regardless of the 20% sell on clause to his previous club Crewe Alexandra then if he wants to leave for that prem club he will be aloud to do so. Nicky personaly said that one of the main reasons for staying in Bristol is that his partner Tee is expecting there first child & it wouldn't be fare to move anywhere at present plus his dream & focus is purely getting into the prem. Everton & Liverpool managers are both keeping a close eye on Maynard from now until the Han transfer opens to see if Maynard picks up any injurys on his knee & see how well he does for Bristol City before they will put any bids in. Thats the latest news on Nicky Maynard & from the horses mouth so to speak...Good luck to both our clubs for the coming season... Well thats worded in a way that suggests that, any bid from a prem club, regardless of the amount, will be accepted, if Maynard wants to go, which surely can`t be right. Surely there has to be a minimum sell on price, in which case, it would be interesting to know what that price is, because from Maynard and his agents point of view, they will be in a much better bargaining position for a better personal deal, if he runs his contract out, and goes on a free. Certainly, if they have a 3 or 4 million sell to prem club clause inserted into the contract, i think he may well have a long wait for his prem move. From our point of view, it looks like we may have moved on now anyway, (at last!).
Redski Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 I have no idea whetheror not what bcfc insider says is true but I do think it's a shame that so many on here have taken this personally. Bcfc want to keep hold of their best player, not rip you lot off. We do need to strengthen our defence but we don't need to sell NM to do so. Hopefully this will get resolved this week and we can all move on. Johnson is a great signing btw...
psychonaut Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 That isn't 4-4-2, it's 4-2-2-2 which is ridiculous. How'd you work that one out? Its the 2nd most popular 4-4-2 formation played...
Callabinho Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 How'd you work that one out? Its the 2nd most popular 4-4-2 formation played... 4-1-2-1-2 diamond?
Raw Dykes Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 We desperately need another winger, if were contemplating playing Vassell through the middle Maybe, but all 3 of Vassell, Nugent and Gallagher have played central or wide in the past. I'm sure they will be playing together at times during the season, regardless of whether we sign another attacker or two. I'm sure it's worth a try swapping them around a bit. This might be very effective if done during a match if an opposition defender thinks he has one of them sussed, and is then suddenly up against a different player.
Kent Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 How'd you work that one out? Its the 2nd most popular 4-4-2 formation played... That's 4-4-2 diamond which we couldn't play with the players you mentioned.
psychonaut Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 That's 4-4-2 diamond which we couldn't play with the players you mentioned. I'm pretty sure we could... fernandes/Abe are DM, Wellens/danns/johnson are central midfield players and king can play as the central/offensive midfielder. To keep it slightly on topic was a 4th bid ever made for Maynard?
Happy Fox Posted 31 July 2011 Author Posted 31 July 2011 http://twitter.com/#!/moe_mack84 Nicky Maynard says move to Leicester City "close" #bcfc #lcfc
Mickey O'Neil Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Hope he's not on a wind-up, very happy if true. Biggest f.ucking saga since Edgar Fooking Davids. I want this f.ucker buried one way or another.
sdb Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Probably bollocks. Would make my week if true. Exactly who we need and hopefully rules out some of the other names being mentioned.
Splidge_ Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 http://twitter.com/#!/moe_mack84 Nicky Maynard says move to Leicester City "close" #bcfc #lcfc If true then thank god This saga was way too long. Lets hope he lives up too the hype
