blueblood88 Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 I understand the frustrations around this saga however our stance has been the same from day one NM is not for sale!! You have chose to ignore that 3 times and been told 3 another 3 times he's not for sale. So unless you are prepared to break the bank this isn't going to happen. I think you're in for a shock, how many times have clubs said their players aren't for sale, and then a couple of weeks/months whatever, the player has been sold from an offer that the club can't refuse. Ronaldo to Real madrid is the perfect example
Joe. Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 We can't just bully teams in the market for their best players. It might work sometimes, but if a team don't want to sell then that's their prerogative. I wouldn't call it greed. Inflating a value, yes, but I hardly blame them.
lestajigs Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 They'd rather not sell him at all, hardly greed. No I think there out to get as much as possible for him considering he will leave for nothing next year
lcfc@ Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 I think 6 million and then leave him as there are better strikers who are cheaper
Corky Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 As much as I'd like to sign him, we shouldn't go way over the top in our offers for him. It's pretty clear they don't want to sell so make a final bid and if rejected walk away and look elsewhere.

Redski Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 We haven't said come back with another bid or give us x amount and we'll consider we've always said he isn't for sale. It maybe that he goes for nothing next year but that's a decision for BCFC not you lot.

If NM wanted to join Leicester so badly he could always put in a transfer request but instead he's in Portugal with the rest of our team.

whitlock Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Id much rather take bothroyd on a freebie and pay him slightly higher wages (if thats what would persuade him to come to us) than spank 5 odd million on Maynard.
Kent Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 We haven't said come back with another bid or give us x amount and we'll consider we've always said he isn't for sale. Callabinho Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 We haven't said come back with another bid or give us x amount and we'll consider we've always said he isn't for sale. It maybe that he goes for nothing next year but that's a decision for BCFC not you lot. Although every player has his price, City will not want to risk upsetting their supporters by selling the Cheshire-born striker to another Championship club. City officials are refusing to put a price on Maynard's head, but are understandably reluctant to let him enter the final year of his contract without a new deal having been agreed. Although talks between club and player are continuing, Maynard is expected to delay signing a new deal until the transfer window shuts at the end of August, preferring to keep his options open in case a Premier League club comes in for him. But newspaper rumours linking him with a host of top-flight clubs have, so far at least, proved totally unfounded, with Leicester the only suitors. Former England manager Eriksson is a confirmed admirer of Maynard and has made him his No 1 target after missing out on the highly-rated Mackail-Smith, who joined Brighton in a deal worth £3.25m earlier this week. Eriksson has money to spend in the transfer market and it remains to be seen if City will be tempted by an offer of around £5m. Read that and tell me that your 100% Convinced your owners will not sell Nicky Maynard.

yorkie1999 Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 If we offered 15million for nicky maynard, would bcfc sell? yes course they would so therefore he is for sale, its just a matter of how much. I still think we should forget about him and go for someone like yakubu
Phil Gee's Mullet Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Id much rather take bothroyd on a freebie and pay him slightly higher wages (if thats what would persuade him to come to us) than spank 5 odd million on Maynard. This!
Brenfox Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 We should move on. There are better strikers available for less & I'm sure Sven will be aware of a few
Wymsey Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 I genuinely think it depends on what Sven will do with Waghorn first. He didn't play his best in the most recent times he played for us, but he has got the potential to be a good player for us at this level. Who knows?
m00nie Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 We should move on. There are better strikers available for less & I'm sure Sven will be aware of a few like who ?? if sven was aware off better for less dont you think he would be chasing them...
Redski Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 Of course every player has their price, problem is you haven't met ours for Maynard and until you do he's not for sale. If however you do cough up and meet our valuation I'm sure you will have paid top whack so there will be no tears from me. Also I do not know that we haven't set a price but if we have you still haven't met it and therefore you're still wasting your time.
Narborough_fox Posted 7 July 2011 Posted 7 July 2011 like who ?? if sven was aware off better for less dont you think he would be chasing them... Yakubu for starters.

What you're saying is true, but if I were you'd I'd be fairly worried about the fact he is stalling the contract negotiations which clearly indicates he is looking for a move somewhere. I would say if a Prem team comes in then he's gone, whether or not he would hand in a request to join us if a different story (assuming, like you say, that you reject all of our bids). If he signs with you tomorrow then great, we look elsewhere and probably get a striker of a similar calibre and you keep your man for at least a while.
