Hack Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 We should just bite the bullet and get the yak. Yes, I am sure the Yak and a number of other options are being considered by Sven and team.
Callabinho Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 We should just bite the bullet and get the yak. Agreed.
teblin Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I think Bothroyd on a free is great option, but get the feeling he is of to the Prem.
artursteppe Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 We should just bite the bullet and get the yak. I gotta say, it got to the stage that I was fed up with Mackail-Smith, he did not want to wear the shirt - I'm getting that way with Nicky Maynard, if he is too dim to see the direction we are going in and would rather play for Wigan or Birmingham or Wolves if they made offers, we should find someone else. Either he sharpens up and tells Bristol City he wants to move or bollocks to him.

80footgiraffe Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I'll trust whatever sven does, and I think he has the right ideas.

Either he sharpens up and tells Bristol City he wants to move or bollocks to him. If Wolves lose Doyle to Arsenal as is being reported, Maynard, could be the type of guy they go for. But as I said earlier, Bristol are nuts if they think Wolves will offer what we have been offering without upsetting Maynard.
escos Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 You've got to take your hat off to Bristol for being so stubborn, However anybody who thinks Nicky "onegoodseasonatthislevel" Maynard is worth anywhere near £7m is a ****ing idiot. If he had 3 years left on his contract he still wouldn't be worth it!!!!
artursteppe Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 This is more about Maynard and Bristol City, than us. Their owner has said we won't let him go other than to a Prem club, or unless Maynard indicates he wants to leave. If they sell Maynard without him indicating he wants to leave, Maynard gets a cut of the fee. If Maynard says he wants to go they keep the lot. To all you Bristol City fans, that is the truth - as I have said before, it's up to Maynard TODAY - otherwise Yukubu and Chong together would cost the same as Maynard and would be a much better deal for us.
skinnydipper Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I think that we should again consider Simon Cox. A proven goalscorer, not getting regular starts at WBA and fitting the profile age wise. If he can see the ambition of the club he may be tempted if we put an offer in. Every bit as good as Maynard and probably cheaper too. As for the Yak - no thanks. Think he'd only be here for the money but would be lacking in motivation.
One Arm Babba Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 What makes me laugh is that by turning their nose up at our money as we are a championship club, they are potentially going to lose money this transfer window. If a prem team comes sniffing and all of a sudden he wants to go, then they'll be forced in to dealing for less than we may have offered. I'd say we give this time to develop before Sweden, if nothing is happening, take our final offer from the table.

Ianlcfc Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 In advanced talks with everton I think have a cheeky bid for beckford? Worth testing the water if they get bothroyd. Anyone know where david healey is these days?
FoxyPalace.com Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Id say lets move on now. At the end of the day they will lose out, NOBODY including premier teams will pay what they are asking for. Henandez was only around 5-7 million for Man United, he was a full Mexican International and by golly he can score. Forget Maynard!! I can understand they want the best deal possible for their club but this is just plain stupidity, you can tell by the way they are handling this proposed transfer that they are complete amateurs. Maynard clearly does not want to be a Bristol City player as he wont even sign a contract with them, instead he would ravour let his own fans and chairman sweat on a deal that would make him the highest earner at the club.

Carlos9 Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 I wouldn't like too see the Yak back. Last season he was just trying to get other teams to watch him IMO. If he signed for us i doubt he would be half the player he was. He goes missing in games as well then in others he scores 3! Would prefer a player that wants to play for us! Luke Varney would be decent, plus hes a Leicester fan!
Guest Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 We should just bite the bullet and get the yak. I thought the Yak was being a greedy sod and didn't want to play for us for reasonable money?
artursteppe Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 NOT Simon Cox, the little shit was going to sign for us, nailed on, and then pissed off to the Albion. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO He had his chance and chose not to come.

If a prem club come in for Nicky a deal will be thrashed out and I'd expect us to get a similar deal to what you have offered. We can however afford to accept less if needs be as we won't be selling to a team in our league. As proved with CMS players don't always go to the highest bidder.
Jimmy Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 We should just bite the bullet and get the yak. wasn't he being a knob over wages though?
CosbehFox Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 Varney is at Pompey and nowhere near the class of Yak. Sven should forgot it and look elsewhere. Cox is a decent shout and Sven knows him after he took the urine out of Lamey and co. And surely there's got to be a decent option abroad too?

lcfc matt Posted 8 July 2011 Posted 8 July 2011 And you think Maynard is going to want to play for little wages I doubt it just get the yak in ffs
