Ric Flair Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 David Trezeguet is a free agent after being released from Hercules. I think he would be a good shout, he states he is looking for a new challenge, wants to go to a club that will relie on him, and that financial gain is not an issue. worth a phone call surely! You dirty boy, that would be a humdinger of a capture. Also, i've said it before and i'll say it again. Weiss from Man City as our missing link on the wing. Burnley are sniffing round him, get it done Svennis.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 Would like to see James Henry here. A complete outsider/gamble .. Dexter Blackstock?
whitwickfox Posted 26 July 2011 Posted 26 July 2011 i know its been mentioned all ready on here, but the guy who really impressed me was simon cox. i think he would come here and wouldnt cost much more than 2-3 million. probably wouldnt get 20 plus, but wouldnt be too far adrift. my second point would be why we need this prolific scorer. if the defence is sorted, (and i have seen one full game and was impressed how we looked solid,) then taking 35 goals off our goals conceeded last season, would of given us at least 10 more points if not more, had we had this defence in place then. nugent is probably being slightly overlooked, and i can see him getting 20 goals with the right service and playing in a better set up than down at portsmouth. another plus will be mills towering above most defenders at corners.can see another 5-6 goals there i dont want to talk about maynard, as just about every thing has been said more than once. he is quality, would be good signing, but my gut feeling is he will go to wigan

No idea how likely it would be, though. Whoever it will be, I do think we will need one more striker. I agree with you about Nugent - I think he'll do well for us, and may perform better here than in Pompey's team, but I still think we will need another striker, because I can't see Waghorn, Howard or Yann starting many games this season (if any at all), and we want 2 good players for each position.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Gradel has appealed to Leeds fans on his Facebook page not to become frustrated with him because he has been waiting for a new contract from Leeds since January that has not been forthcoming. It sounds remarkably similar to Schmeichel's situation if true, trying to get money for an in-demand player by not showing him he's wanted. Personally I think IF we can get him for a decent price, he'd be well worth a punt as Sven's style of play could well suit him down to the ground and with the links he already has here he could well fancy a return. As I say, no source or evidence; just an observation.
Samilktray Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 So this should be in the Who Would You Buy thread then.
dave_the_fox Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 In Svens system gradel would be lethal. Shame I don't think he would come back
Ali_Mauchlens_Tash Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 If we are building a team supposedly good enough for the prem then there's no way I'd want him back. Nothing against the lad, he's had a good season, but I couldn't see him getting much game time if he returned.
ScoutMan Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Birmingham City are struggling financially acting chairman Peter Pannu admitting players may need to be sold. http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_7063444,00.html Is it worth a cheeky bid for Cameron Jerome?
Finnegan Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I think he'd come back if the money met his agent's demands. He got on with the fans and we're all that's still here from his time. New owners, new gaffers and a much bigger club with much bigger ambitions and a much deeper wallet. Why wouldn't he come? Because Pearson didn't value him? Think he'd attract prem interest by now anyway. And we've not even been linked anywhere, so this is all just a waste of words. Tony, you're up. Go crazy. Tell us all he's being tapped up by Pep or something.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I have to say on the flanks of a three-man attack he could be lethal, a real alternative if we can't get Maynard. One interesting aspect of the story is that the Leeds players have apparently been banned from using social networking sites, so Gradel could be in some trouble for using Facebook to slag off the club. Swansea and West Ham have been rumoured to be interested so with that and the lack of a contract offer, Gradel may well be preparing for another move. I'd love to see Sven weigh in with an offer but he'd need all his powers of persuasion as well as a strong contract offer to persuade him to make a return.
Adster Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 Can you send me a link to his Facebook page please mate?
Guest Bilo Posted 27 July 2011 Posted 27 July 2011 I'm at work I'm afraid mate, posting on my Blackberry.

Doubt it. Bolton were interested but they quoted something like £8mil.

Ric Flair Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 what is Santa Cruz up to? Been upsetting a few in the Copa America that's just finished. He'll now be on holiday with some bronzed slags for a few weeks before he comes back to Man City's Elite Development squad where he'll do scrote all again all season. We need him, but he'll not be available until end of August.

DC1010 Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 Stefano Okaka, season long loan. Unlikely he would come but worth a go.
Hollism94 Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 Hey guys, this is my first post so forgive me if it's too long, too stupid, too boring, etc... Lee Camp I think he and Kasper Schmeichel are by far the 2 best goalkeepers in the championship. We've got an increasingly strong defence, and if they're as good as we're all hoping, and our opposition only get a handful of shots away each game, then Kasper could get 'rusty'. If that were to happen, it will cost us when our defence fall out of form. With Lee Camp on the bench, it will keep both keepers on their toes (Weale's no threat to Kasper's spot) and make them both better players. Also, without Lee Camp and Robbie Earnshaw, I truly believe that Forest will be in a relegation battle! Which will be a nice consolation if we only finish second ;-) I know we shouldn't be thinking about signing another keeper when we still need our '20 goal a season' striker so don't take me too seriously. Speaking of that '20 goal' player, I was honestly surprised when Sven didn't show any interest when Adel Taraabt's move to PSG broke down. He's definitely worth a £7.5m offer at least. That probably wouldn't get accepted by QPR, but if we convinced Taraabt we'll be playing Europa league football in a few years (look at Stoke) then you never know ;-)
NeilyBoy Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 I like the logic of buying Foreskin into a relegation battle, but even if we made a hefty enough bid for McClaren there's no way any keeper would go from first team to bench warmer. I've already said it elsewhere but Jerome on the cheap from poor-boys brummy would be a miniature coup imo.
Dell13 Posted 29 July 2011 Posted 29 July 2011 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryo_Miyaichi Watched him during pre-season, impressed hugely, we have Japanese links with Yuki as well.....
