Danny the Fox 95 Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Rob Tanner's twitter: "I was told by a very good source that Heskey may feel he is not ready to drrop down a division. New Villa boss should have final say". Interesting I thought Emile would be interested in leading Leicester back to the Prem! Not disapointed but certainly would have him back.

Heskey could still do a good job in the Prem and I'm sure there will be Prem clubs interested if Villa don't want him. However, if he does want to return to Leicester before he retires, it's now or never whilst he's still got 2/3 years left in him.

80footgiraffe Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Yes. I think that would be great, strong buffeters of the ball.
80footgiraffe Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Still got skill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPKmqspkoXo that was a bit of a fail video
nickelbyfox Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 It astounds me that people thought Heskey had a bad World Cup. He set up Gerards goal for starters, His job was ronseal - to win the ball from goal kicks, hold the ball up, then lay it off. He did that brilliantly. He would be a nightmare for defenders in the Championship - Andy King will likely score 30+ ! Imagine trying to man mark Heskey & Yakubu/King you'd need two covering each ! Midfield free for all target practice. Agree, as was said earlier Heskey has a knack of making others in his team look good! Would definitely give you the direct option which could be lethal as a plan B
Clazie Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 I think that would be great, strong buffeters of the ball. I'm not saying it wouldn't work, but it would cost a bloody bomb to get them both.
Kingylcfc Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Still got skill http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPKmqspkoXo well he nearly buggered up the step over and then a crappy cross/shot :L doesn't really advertise him that well
sdb Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Heskey had an OK world cup. Excellent 1st game, poor 2nd. Then 2 meaningless sub apps. People go crazy that he came on when we were 4-1 down v Germany, as if Defoe?(crouch?) coming on would've meant a possible 4-4. Heskey came on to stop us getting dicked even more.
Nick Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 Wonder if Mr. Hughes will let him go if he becomes Villa manager?

I think heskey was the scapegoat of the world cup, the reason why we did poorly. Utter bullshit! Where were the likes of rooney, gerrard, lampard, terry...
kimmy619 Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 You cant man mark heskey, hes too strong and powerful and even if you can, it will free up other players. Yeah i agree hes not the player he was in scoring goals like he did for us, but he become a CF who sets up goals for his striking partner. Also he will have the set piece threat. My only concern is will he slow down the fast tempo game we play....because hes not the best passer or quickest player. It would be a lot of money for us to spend just so we can keep the other team occupied...!!!! I'm sorry, I just don't get it.

svensson Posted 2 June 2011 Posted 2 June 2011 What don't you understand? Are you basing your Heskey opinions on the tabloid press and the media? Heskey would be brilliant for us, he brings a wealth of experience and is still a handfull. The premier league is an unforgiving place, and the standard of defending is far higher then the championship, just look at our centre backs, are you telling me he wouldnt boss them all over the pitch?? Ive watched him a few times at Villa park and is still deceptively fast, he chases down, plays it simple and bring others into play. he is one of Villas best defenders at set plays and last but not least, he dipped into his own pocket to save the club least we not forget.. It astounds me that some of you dont want him back, for my latter point he deserves good like status within our club.. Heskey, I will pay your taxi fair mate!!
kimmy619 Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 I just don't appear to rate him as highly as others obviously do. If I were basing my opinion on press/public opinion, surely I would want him back, especially based on this thread?!! I am not saying that he is crap or anything, more that he appears to be lazy. I will take your word for it that he is fast as that isn't the Heskey that I have seen play. If we can get him cheap, then I am all for it. However, paying loads for a player like that wouldn't be good for the club in my opinion.

Guest Mee-9 Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Well I don't want him to come back. All he does is fall over and miss the target.
80footgiraffe Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 i know i sound like a bum, but, king has signed a new deal, yakubu's deal has broken down and kevin phillips is off to watford. All transfer targets/rumours. There all being snatched up! Sven needs to buckle down a bit. I know its pedantic and impatient but...come on give us something to look forward to sven. YES I DO REALISE ITS 3 DAYS IN
Nick Posted 3 June 2011 Posted 3 June 2011 Well I don't want him to come back. All he does is fall over and miss the target. His CV would suggest otherwise - How many times did you watch him play last season?

YES I DO REALISE ITS 3 DAYS IN Heskey has gone nowhere, you don't know what's happening with Yakubu, you don't know if we ever offered King anything serious, or whether Philips was even on the list.
