Heskey

One of Heskeys greatest strengths is holding the ball up so the midfield can join in with the attack, if he signed for us I could see Andy King getting even more goals next season.

Yakubu + Heskey.

If we have both of them, I can guarentee there will be fans who will moan about the mobility of our Forwards.

Yakubu > Heskey

These people saying he is past it, have you seen him this year? Best he has been in a few seasons, and will be playing at a lower level.

6 in 23 this season, not sure how many sub appearances but hardly criminal.

For me, its Heskey or Yakubu. Simply because of the wages they are both going to demand. Obviously I'd rather the Yak because of his goals but Heskey can bring other things. If though we signed Heskey and Maynard then I think that could potentially be a very good partnership.

All depends whether we're going to go 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 next season, Heskey in a 4-4-2 could work. I'd rather us stick to the 4-3-3 though.

Agree with this dont think Heskey and the yak wold work together. I would prefer Heskey and Maynard or someone else young and hungry maybe Schlupp?

paul lamberts meant to be putting in a 5 million bid for maynard so think people should forget about him..

as much as i would love to see heskey here again im not sure heskey and yak would be good together as others have said.

for me yak i can see 20+ goals so would be yak>heskey for me even with all heskeys other attributes..

Players who have two successful careers at the same club? I know it doesn't make any difference to the viability of Heskey coming back but just wondered...John Wark of Ipswich fame worked...3 times

To be fair we are after a season not a second career.

Shame he's nearly mid 30. I do question whether this potential signing just because he has been a hit with the club in the past. It doesn't always work that way in football you know.

What a waste of money this would be. I'd take him on a free for a year but he hasn't shown any kind of form for 3/4 years now to warrant paying 2 million. So many better striker options out there for that price, ones that score goals.

We do need a big man up front, and for me it has to be the Yak. However, it would be nice to have someone on the bench to replace Howard (assuming he goes), but for 2m i'm not sure it would be worth it to get Heskey in. If we don't get the Yak, then i'd say Heskey would be the next best thing.

As we've got 'unlimited' funds, I wouldn't mind Heskey at all providing Sven signs up the Hulk of Porto.

Depends how you play him - he's never been prolific, no but he wins everything booted out to him, knows how to cross, would bully defences in this league, defends from the front and has a good enough touch to play a man in and has the experience to know where the net is - would be a great asset providing we have depth in quality up front......

Heskey may score only 10 all season but will draw two defenders every time he has the ball - Kingy will end up bagging 20 as a result.

I'd like three quality strikers and a bench sitter Yak Heskey & Maynard would do great for me! muchus pennies though.

I wonder, for the sake of being more mobile, wether we will end up getting Heskey and Kamara... as our main two...

Leicester City are expected to make a bid to sign Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey but may have to be patient to land their man.

The former City favourite is on Sven-Goran Eriksson's wish list this summer.

Although an approach has not yet been made, Villa are braced for one from City and may be prepared to do business for the 33-year-old former England striker.

However, finding a striker to replace Heskey is not a top priority for Villa, and sources say a deal would be dependent on several factors.

City must wait to see what happens at Villa Park over the future of manager Gerard Houllier, who still has not returned to work after his recent heart scare.

If the Frenchman does not return on medical grounds, Villa must find a replacement and they will be looking to do so before pre-season as they are keen to avoid a repeat of what happened last summer when Martin O'Neill left the club on the eve of the season.

Houllier rates Heskey highly from their time together at Liverpool.

But, if the Frenchman leaves, Heskey may choose to return to his hometown club and play for his former England manager Eriksson, who displayed a lot of faith in him at international level.

Heskey has one year left on his Villa contract, but the Premier League club are keen to reduce their wage bill and rebuild the squad this summer after a mixed campaign when they flirted with the relegation places.

They would be likely to do business with City as Heskey is reportedly on around £50,000 a week.

They could ask for a fee of £1.5million for a player they paid Wigan Athletic £3.5m for in January 2009.

Villa have prioritised recruiting possibly two goalkeepers and bolstering their defence this summer, and the future of Ashley Young must be resolved ahead of searching for a replacement striker, but City are confident they can get Heskey before the start of next season.

If Heskey does return to City, it could mean the departure of striker Steve Howard, who is believed to be under consideration for a bid from Hull City.

The Tigers are looking for a big, target-man striker, and manager Nigel Pearson knows Howard's capabilities from their time together at the Walkers Stadium.

Howard could also reform his strike partnership with Matty Fryatt at the KC Stadium.

Sheffield Wednesday are also said to be interested in the 35-year-old, who has one year left on his City contract.

Hull are also keen on signing defender Jack Hobbs from City on a permanent basis after his loan spell with the Tigers.

If we sign Heskey then as much as I love Howard let him go however NOT to a another championship team.

this is stupid i cannot belive sven is choosing Heskey over the Yak,

Yak has 11 goals and heskey has only scored 11 in his career, yes yakubu is lazy but he scores goals, i do want heskey to return to our place of course i do but as a replacement for howard and not yak

http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Aston-Villa-transfer-news-Leicester-are-plotting-a-2m-homecoming-for-local-boy-and-former-England-striker-Emile-Heskey-article737413.html

Leicester boss Sven Goran Eriksson is plotting a £2million 'homecoming' for Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey.

Eriksson aims to lure the 33-year-old back to his first club to help fire them back into the Premier League.

Villa could be keen to shift ex-England forward Heskey, who managed just six goals in 25 appearances this term, off their wage bill.

Heskey was a key man for Eriksson during his days in charge of the national team and the Swede reckons he can lead Leicester into the top flight.

Eriksson needs a new striker after struggling to clinch a deal for Everton frontman Yakubu, who spent a chunk of last term on loan at the Walker Stadium.

I don't think his cost is a big issue as I'm sure they'll sell a shed load of Heskey shirts plus additional ST tickets on the back of his signing.
