jonthefox Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 Ive got plenty arranged over the next few days, but i have sunday morning free. Has anyone any good ideas as to where to take the young 'uns?
Webbo Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 Covent Garden is a great place to sit and watch the world go by. There's bound to be some buskers there to entertain the kids.
I am Rod Hull Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 Do the museums.. The Natural history is great . China town for noodles. Greenwich park for a picnic and for the kids to run about abit (also the Greenwich observatory if you can do the hill) So much to do in London, its unreal... The Tower of London will be hours of standing in a line so get there very early.. VERY early..

Itsthejoeker Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 Open top bus trips are suprisingly good. The boat rides down the thames are even better.
Alexikokopops Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 GO ON THE DUCK BOAT/BUS!! I see it most times I pop into town and it looks the tits. It's all about amphibious busses. Inevitably, I bet it's shit. I can confirm the Science Museum is the best thing ever. If they get bored, go to the Launchpad and play all the games. http://www.londonducktours.co.uk/
cambridgefox Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 Natural History Museum or Science Museum would get my vote also,my kids ,the wife and i really enjoy it. If you dont already know you can street park for free on a sunday, very near the NHM,but we like to park in Chelsea and walk through the very expensive houses, wishing i had tried harder at school!!

Which ironically i did this afternoon. We went to the science museum which was great, so thanks for the heads up chaps. Oh, and i even saw a crying stoke fan which made my weekend.
Filbert_Ross Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 Thinking of getting the national express coach from leicester to london, just gonna have a weekend down there with my girlfriend, which Coach station should i go for? Victoria?
whitlock Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 Speed boat down the Thames, interesting and good fun!
Wymsey Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 If it's a day or 2-day trip, go to Oxford Street. It'll keep your girlfriend busy, entertained and quiet.
Alexikokopops Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 Thinking of getting the national express coach from leicester to london, just gonna have a weekend down there with my girlfriend, which Coach station should i go for? Victoria? Victoria is the main one for coaches. To be honest, as long as you get somewhere in zone 1 you can get to anywhere easy enough. What are the coach station options and where are you staying?
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 Victoria is the best, as the London Underground has a wider service, from there.
nuttytimmy Posted 27 September 2011 Posted 27 September 2011 Victoria is the best, as the London Underground has a wider service, from there. Even though, when I went down on the coach for an England V Belarus game aaaages ago (tickets were cheap, before you judge) it's a trek between the coach and tube stations. Always strikes me how different forms of transport are never interconnected enough, but that's a whole other rant (and I've already ranted enough on here tonight!)
Fox92 Posted 29 September 2011 Posted 29 September 2011 Thinking of getting the national express coach from leicester to london, just gonna have a weekend down there with my girlfriend, which Coach station should i go for? Victoria? What about the train? We often visit London and the train is a smooth as you like to get there, although it is probably more expensive than taking the Coach. Never been from Leicester, but our journey from Retford to Kings Cross is great (unless you get Celtic fans on the train). Regarding visiting; St Pauls is amazing, and I enjoy visiting St Pauls the most. It is amazing, and the view from the top is sensational.

Not sure where we're staying yet, looked at the trains and the cheapest I can get going saturday morning and coming back sunday afternoon is £100 for us both compared to the coach £32. The train would be be my preffered choice because any coach journey is a chore.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 September 2011 Posted 30 September 2011 I'd definitely recommend the Science Museum. Free and fascinating. I live in London, and the best thing I've done down here is take an open-top bus tour. Either of the two big bus companies (one of which I think is called the Big Bus company) are really good. Expensive though, it's about £20 a pop for adults.
Daggers Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 If you have one of the go-anywhere-train/tube tickets then you can jump on the No.13 going East-West across the city and get your real-life Potter bus experience. It's a gorgeous bus. Imperial War Museum. The Natural History dinosaurs. Growl! Add in a picnic in the park and a walk over Tower Bridge and you have a massive day that's free and they'll remember forever. Especially if I'm there.
