ajthefox Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 Don't want him back as such but he's playing regularly in the prem and at the minute thats better than what anyone we have can boast, so yes.
Jimmy Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 yes, but as a centre back, seeing as thats his position and not right back
Thracian Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 Can't ever imagine the issue arising. Stearman has gone. He's done himself justice, played a lot of matches and can be proud of himself. No, he's not the greatest footballer, either as a centre-back or full-back. But he's competent enough, reasonably able in defence or going forward, is always there to be seen, has stacks of energy, wears well through a season and can still improve some. However I don't see why we'd want him back or why he'd especially wish to come back either. Would I choose to have him back? No.
Father Ted Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 Dont ever see this happening but I would say yes, he always had a buzz about him, chipped in with the odd goal and also had the 'stearman special' long throw! People forget he was part of a very solid backline.
Bert Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 yes, but as a centre back, seeing as thats his position and not right back Yet he's still doing ok at right back for Wolves....
sdb Posted 15 May 2011 Posted 15 May 2011 He'd be good at this level after his experience/s this season. Not someone i'd be bending over backwards to make happen though. And can't see why it would happen atm anyway. that sounds a little sexual, wasn't meant to
RumbleFox Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 Right, I would probably say no to this as I like to move forwards and think we have better options. However, am very confused by the negativity towards him on this thread. People seem to have short memories. He won the Academy and Player's Player of the Year awards I seem to remember and what is he? 22? 23? Think it's a bit harsh slagging him off and saying we'd never have him back. "Yeah, but like, he jumped ship when we wuz relehgated." Always makes me laugh this one. We applaud our relatives and our friends and ourselves if we get a promotion or we get headhunted or we move to a bigger firm (or at least a firm in a better position at this time) and yet a footballer leaving a team for a higher level is somehow heresy? I would love to play for Leicester more than any other team and I am sure most of you would too but these guys are footballers and have to look after their careers. No one can be blamed for moving up a division surely? Anyway, it's a no from me me duck but good luck to the lad. Rumble. X
Jimmy Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 Yet he's still doing ok at right back for Wolves.... yeah he does OK but when Craddock was out injured and he was at CB he was a lot better then that, Vassell does ok on the wing, doesn't stop him being a striker though
eaststandtom Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 i dont think we should be re -signing players who contributed to us getting relegated to league one personally. tbf stearman was one of 4 who played his heart out in the run in that season but still, no.
sphericalfox Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 People accuse PVA of spending too much of his time up field leaving us open at the back for a counter attack. If I remember distinctly this was a Stearman speciality. It didn't help that the rest of the team and support around him were useless. I appreciate that generally he was an enthusiastic player and was just trying to get us in/back in the game. But sometimes he forgot what position he played. So that'll be a no.
tomtom Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 I've been to see wolves 3 times this season with my dad who's a wolves fan and I was surprised at how poor Stearman has become,..his distribution was terrible and he wasn't comfortable going forward either so all in all I'd say no and I don't think sven would like that type of full back anyway!
Simo86 Posted 16 May 2011 Posted 16 May 2011 If Wolves end up getting relegated does any one think we would be able to get Stearman back ? I would personally love to as he has proved to be prem quality and surely as a Leicester fan he would be open to it. Pointless thread Its just a way to dodge revision aha Feel free to delete mods He was born in Wolverhampton and he is a Wolves fan, so i seriously doubt he'd come back anyway
funkyrobot Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Always caught out positionally when at city. I bet wolves fans would love to see him gone but please not to city. Maybe coventry could take him, I could see him playing in front of 200 fans at the mighty ricoh.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 It seems unlikely that Wloves will get relegated now. Anyhow, Steers has just bought a new house In Birmingham & if Wloves get relegated he has a clause in his contract that his wages do down by 30%. I believe he is on £40k per week. Also I hear that he thinks he is better than Wolves & coming to Leicester is a step down, not up as we aint Prem. Stears still has mates In Leicester and comes back quite often. He still has an affinity for the club. However, he enjoys the premiership and wants to remain at wolves esp if they stay up
Tuna Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Stearman on 40k a week, sounds like an awful amount for a mediocre premiership/championship player.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 He's Shite. <_< He certainly is not He is a top quality player.
