Guest Bilo Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Best of luck Hobbs. Good defender under Pearson and I think he will be again at 'Ull. He is unfortunately not a ball playing defender and is therefore not right for a Sven team, harsh but true.
bridlington Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 He was good until Derby away in his first season, around February time, but it all went downhill from there, endless mistakes. That's when i think people realised why he was number 2 at Bristol City for so long. fair comment, you guys would clearly know better than I. We certainly need two keepers and I wouldn't be too disheartened if weale was one of them. I still wouldn't rule out dyer either to be honest. Even in spite of him being linked with the wendys
Kilworthfox Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Evening Leicester fans, hull fan here. Just been reading through the thread and there are some pretty interesting comments. we were chuffed with Hobbs performances when he came and are delighted with today's news, hoping he can form an excellent partnership with James Chester for many years to come. Interesting to see your thoughts on styles of play and not fitting in with svens ethos. I'm hopeful in Hobbs and Chester we will get that balance in the defence as we are beginning to in other areas. Intrigued now to see who is next to follow Pearson. I'd put money on weale personally. Hello! £800k, ur getting an absolute bargain! Hobbs is a no nosence defender, & should have been given more oppertunity at LCFC under Sven IMO. True he is not the most accomplished player on the deck, but I like Defenders who can defend & Jack is very good at defending. The only other weakness is his agility when turning around, but he is deceptively quick in a straight line. Best of luck Jack, u did very well for us

Dyer is still useful at this level IMO, lacks end product sometimes but can be a great outlet on the wing.

Stevosevic Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 But Hobbs did play a lot under Sven, and was complete garbage. Agreed, for people to say he didn't get a chance is wrong.
breadandcheese Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Agreed, for people to say he didn't get a chance is wrong. Not quite fair. When he played under Sven, he was mostly used as a left sided centre back, rather than a right sided centre back. His best form came when he played where he was most comfortable.
Walshy5 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Bargin of the season for Hull. Gutted he,s off. Im sure it,ll come back to haunt us!
Bert Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Not quite fair. When he played under Sven, he was mostly used as a left sided centre back, rather than a right sided centre back. His best form came when he played where he was most comfortable. Well it's not like he was playing at full back, he was still playing centre back, regardless of the side he was on.
gazfox9 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Well it's not like he was playing at full back, he was still playing centre back, regardless of the side he was on. Couldn't agree more. I think its used as a cover up quite often on the LCB/RCB debate. There isn't the same trouble when we've played 2 up front and debated who's played left or right striker.
Scow Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 We want to play with a high line; Hobbs lacks pace. We want to play out from the back; Hobbs lacks composure in possession. Right player in the right team, as demonstrated by us under Pearson and then at Hull (i.e. sit deeper, more direct), but not deemed the sort of progressive player to take us to the next level.

sdb Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Bamba and Mee are hardly lightning quick though are they?
Danno Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Bamba and Mee are hardly lightning quick though are they? bamba is... but shocking when youve realised the sun doesnt shine out of his arse

Spot on !!!! So.......onwards & upwards !!!!!
CKB Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 Bamba and Mee are hardly lightning quick though are they? Bamba isn't slow and Mee ain't no snail either ---------- As for Hobbs, i've said it time and time again he does not suit Sven's way.. I appreciate what he did for us in League 1 and the play-off year under Pearson but his game was perfectly suited to the way Pearson sets his teams out Get over it people, Hobbs would have never improved under Sven because he lacks that certain "Je Nous Se Qua"
Bryn Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 Good deal for all concerned, would have been nice to squeeze a few more pounds out of them but he was surplus to requirements and I'm glad we didn't stall his career by hanging on to him, he deserved his move.
Jon25747 Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 Fourth Official on Twitter seems to think the deal is done

i_am_lcfc Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 its not all about pace, his got good awareness which puts him in those positions in the first place. He is just to clumsy for my liking. think we should hold out and get a bigger offer for him

He is just to clumsy for my liking. think we should hold out and get a bigger offer for him I doubt we'd get a bigger offer, with clubs knowing he isn't required here. It also seems to be a done deal with Hull.
i_am_lcfc Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 Just because his not wanted by the club doesnt mean that he has to go for cheap. i think we could get a million for him.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 29 June 2011 Posted 29 June 2011 Just because his not wanted by the club doesnt mean that he has to go for cheap. i think we could get a million for him. initially £800,000 and could rise to bit higher than 1 Million.
