Bezzanator89 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Was waiting for some Titanic-esque post. Anyway, superb under the Pearson era, lacklustre and confidence-deprived after that. Farewell Jack, best of luck to you kid.
Joe. Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Should pretty much cover the Peltier fee then. And now we only have one centre-back left for pre-season training, superb.
Criggers Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 ..because everyone should be motivated to work for a manager who doesn't rate them, and never think about joining one who does. What a load of bollocks. You will not get anywhere in life if you just want to be teachers pet at every opportunity. Sometimes you need to stand up and make yourself noticed. Clearly Mr Hobbs did not do that. That either means he isn't good enough in Sven's opinion, or he couldn't be bothered. So why are we so bothered? I think Hobbs was used to being the first name (at least defender wise) on the team sheet and he didn't like having to prove himself again. The fact he has ran off to Pearson means he either wants NP to wipe his arse again or there was no other option.
Brainy Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Probably means we've got another defender almost signed seeing as Sven said he wanted to make other signings at the CB before letting him go

The fact he has ran off to Pearson means he either wants NP to wipe his arse again or there was no other option. Bit harsh on Hobbs I think there... The matter of the fact is that he didn't seem good enough in Sven's opinion and did not suit his team strategy on the pitch. When given the right circumstances and formation etc, I wouldn't like to see Hobbs in a dark alley somewhere, he'd tale the ball and happily take both legs of the man with it. Physical, industrial, tough football is what makes Hobbs tick, and that is the type of football that Pearson operated here and he is now operating at Hull, hence why he's nabbed Fryatt and now about to take Hobbs too. Sousa and now Eriksson work the team on a more passig motion and that is not what suits Hobbs, and this has shown every time he has been on the pitch after Pearson's departure, so bye bye said his confidence ad had been out ever since. It vis good for us, sicne we're getting our money back that we paid for Peltier, plus it's a good career move for Hobbs, plus Pearson obviously has a use for him so everyone wins. I say good luck to Jack, whilst he was in the right formation and frame of mind (which is whilst Pearson was in charge), he was excellent. Sadly, things change and it didn't work out for him in the end and he needs to move on, but that my friends is what we call "football".
Liamlcfc1 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/HULL-CITY-Hobbs-deal-imminent/story-12843893-detail/story.html HULL City have been given the green light to announce their capture of Leicester City defender Jack Hobbs after Tigers' target Neil Danns signed for the Foxes.Leicester boss Sven-Goran Eriksson swooped for the 28-year-old midfielder on a three-year deal yesterday. Keen not to be seen as a selling club, the arrival of Leeds keeper Kasper Schmeichel and Huddersfield's Lee Peltier means Hobbs can finally be shown the exit door. The centre-back's capture is seen as crucial to the Tigers' chances of a promotion bid this term after the 22-year-old played in 13 games for City while on-loan last season. The loss of fellow loanee Anthony Gerrard back to Cardiff at the end of last season left the Tigers short in the centre of defence. And after seeing midfield targets Neil Kilkenny and Danns slip through their hands in recent days, the Tigers will be relieved to finally land a big player for next season. A source close to Leicester City said: "The deal is imminent and should be announced by Hull City in the next two or three days. "It has been agreed for a long time but Leicester wanted to get some players in first before announcing some departures. "With Peltier, Danns and Schmeichel now at the club, that's the case and the club can at last sanction Hobbs' departure to Hull City." It is believed a fee of around £800,000 was agreed between Leicester and the Tigers at the end of last season, while personal terms have not proved a stumbling block. And the deal will reunite the Leicester stopper with his former boss at the Walkers Stadium, Nigel Pearson.

Liamlcfc1 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Fourth_Official Fourth OfficialJack Hobbs will be leaving #LCFC with his replacement being lined up
cc_star Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 @jasonbourne1986 Looks like Jack Hobbs is heading to Hull City - reports that he's having a medial at the KC Stadium and could join them this week Disappointed for the lad that circumstances worked against him a bit, still we seem to be in for some good enough replacements. Hope he does well! (Obviously not at our expense though)

Austin Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Always liked him, best of luck for the future as long as it doesn't effect us! Cheers for the years of work you put in here Jack.
thybluefox Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 I like Hobbs, I really do, but the fact is that he's a player that doesn't fit in with the type of game we play now. He'll do well for Pearson and his hoof-ball approach. He wouldn't have had a look in here this season so I'd rather have the cash and buy someone who can pass/organise.
MC Prussian Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Let the guessing game begin - who is this replacement they're mentioning?
Corky Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 I like him and wish him well. Hopefully this means Mee is re-joining.
cc_star Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 @jasonbourne1986 Just spoken to BBC Radio Humberside - they believe Hobbs to Hull will go through this week. £850,000 fee which could rise fo £1m.
rico Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Let the guessing game begin - who is this replacement they're mentioning? Sean St Ledger?
Callabinho Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Good luck to the lad, I don't think he suits Svens style. He has looked a little bit sluggish at times this season and uncomfortable on the ball.
Joe. Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 That's a good deal for us I think. He was never going to be a part of plans, so near on £1 million covers the inflated fee we paid for Schmeichel. But I hope this means we have a definite replacement lined up. I'd be happy with St Ledger, even if he did have a pretty poor season for Preston. They still rate him up there, but say his attitude was very poor for a relegation scrap.
DanTheFox07 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 would anyone like to speculate on what sort of fee man city would like for me, what do we think he is worth?
Guest shearfox Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Hope Ben Mee is the guy we have lined up to replace him.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Have a sneaky feeling that Majjid Bougherra is going to be the man replacing Hoobs. Or Luke Chambers
John Matrix Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 good luck jack...sad it didn't work out but that's football
Dylan Posted 28 June 2011 Posted 28 June 2011 Ahh didn't want him to go but guess it became inevitable as he won't get played here. Hope he does well in the future (apart from when he plays us), thought and still think he has very good prospects. Hope we've got a decent sell-on clause in there too, think he can definitely become at least a mid-lower Prem defender in the future- for a Wolves/Stoke type club. Let's hope we get a good replacement anyway.
