stockyfox Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 I'll have to come back to this later as I have to go to a meeting this afto. PS Prussian is a great guy really!!!
MC Prussian Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 Don't listen to em Pete... Yours is the singly most sensible post on here in ages IMO. Spherical and Prussian the two to come right back at ya! Now there's a shock! You'll find that most people have put you on ignore - I'm just one of the few nice lads on here trying to help you overcome your misconception. Believe in the Lord that is and thy shall be cured. P.S.: I've met stockyfox in person, I think he's a great guy (even though we tend to agree to disagree) and one of the most faithful and long-lasting LCFC fans I've ever had the pleasure to talk to.

Foxblogger Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 Do you know how a radio programme is produced Stocky? The calls are vetted. They choose who goes on air based on whatever agenda they may have. The overly critical amongst, and I hope i speak for others too, is that there is NO balance. Yes fine have a few nutters rant and rave on air about a game they didn't attend and make ludicrous statements based on no facts whatsoever. Yes there are a few callers who get through who make sense and are sensible, but the annoying thing is that a programme produced by the BBC in supposed neutrality is nothing of the sort. Comparing this Forum to a produced radio programme is naive and inaccurate. There are a number of reasons to screen calls from technical (can I actually make out what the caller is saying?) to legal (is this person going to say something libellous, use foul language etc.?) and then from a content perspective (does this person have something interesting to say?). Screening calls is essential, there's no way around it. I've sat in on both the Saturday phone-in and the Football Forum and the Broadcast Assistants who screen the calls on a Saturday will always try to prioritise someone who has been to the game over someone who hasn't, and likewise will always try and get the most interesting callers on the Forum. The problem is that, sadly, most people prefer to text. Very few people call in these days, which means you get a very high variance in the quality of the calls on the show. Sometimes the BA's will try and call people who make interesting points via text to try and encourage them to go on the air. I don't know what their success rate is for this generally, but I'd estimate its pretty low - those people text rather than call do so for a reason. I've had the same issues trying to find fans to interview for the Foxblogger Podcast. Many people are happy to post of forums and twitter, but don't want to use their voice. I think its a real shame. My point is this isn't just down to RL. If we want entertaining and thought provoking football phone-ins more people who have interesting things to say but for whatever reason choose not call in need to do so.

Again a very informative and sensible post.. I personally have phoned in to radio Leicester a few times to make both positive and negative points. Sometimes I've got through, sometimes I've not.. Just how it is I guess Thank you for your explanation
stockyfox Posted 15 June 2011 Posted 15 June 2011 Right, may I clarify one or two issues: A fixture has been arranged for Leicester City to play RealMadrid on July 30th at the Walkers Stadium Now if it's the RealMadrid that I think it is and not a 'tribute' team or a bunch of lookalikes, Ireckon that is about the most prestigious fixture that one can get. This isReal Madrid, not Sunderland, not even a FolksTalk XI. As such, we owe them (and more so the fans) the respect ofproviding a credible and quality opposition Now if we had a fairly settled team, if we still had theteam that finished off in style at the end of last season, I would relishseeing 'our' players pit their wits against one of the best sides in the world. Alright it's a month and a half away but the clock isticking and we not only need to sign 'quality' players to replace those whohave now left, but the back four, and at the moment we don't quite know, - no,we really haven't got a clue who they might be, but they might even have toattend a crash course in learning Egyptian – and I bet Yuki Abe won't fancythat! So we sign quality players and because they are 'quality'players, they gel instantly! An on-fieldconversation might be on the lines of 'Hi! I've not seen you before! What'syour name? I'm Fred' Other player smiles and shakes his head, not havingunderstood a word! So I said pay £5million for Kyle Naughton! These days, transfer fees a re in Fantasy Land. It's like playing 'Monopoly'! How manyclubs actually have that sort of money showing as a genuine credit balance ontheir bank statement? Very Few so they swop 'IOU's. Kyle Naughton is not just a superb defender. When he winsthe ball, he energises into a striker and scores goals – as you may possiblyhave noticed – that is if you attended the game! Prussian! Hiya Friend. Hope you are keeping well! When I said 'provoke a reaction', I wasmeaning that I hoped that others might also phone or text etc their views andtherefore develop the discussion. Nobody did that week but they did more so onMonday's prog. I've got a fair idea how programmes are produced having beenround Radio Luxemburg in the fifties, BBC radio studios in Manchester in the 60'sand Radio Leicester a few months ago. Have met personally Ian Stringer, AlanBirchenall plus a photo and Charlie Dagnall. They are really nice guys and Ithink that some of the slagging off that goes on says more about the writerthan the target. Oh damn! I'm missing England U21! P.S. Thank you for your support Col City Fan and Foxblogger for your very informative and most interesting posts.

I think its safe to say we're all in agreement that we would all like a settled squad and we want to put up a good display against Real Madrid. However some of us are slightly more grounded in reality and realise that to bring in quality players, we're up against a number of other similarly placed Championship teams and possibly lower end Premiership teams to get their signature. Negotiations take time when a player and his agent have to weigh up offers and counter offers from a number of clubs. Wishing for it to hurry up and blaming Sven and others at the club for dragging their feet is like blaming the weather for raining.

Thank you for your support Col City Fan and Foxblogger for your very informative and most interesting posts. No problem mate... For me you are 'grounded in reality' and have made a couple of refreshing posts today. I have always thought stringer, for example, as a frustrating fooker, but have also been told he's genuinely a good guy and passionate about his football. As I said earlier, I've personally called in a few times to RL and never once encountered anything other than politeness and professionalism. The first call I ever made to them was following our being hammered at home by Liverpool ( the game when fowler scored four) to say how shite we had played that day and that Lee Marshall was a disgrace. Other times have been for more positive performances. Take care Pete
TheUltimateWinner Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Max gradel wants to return... & FVCK OFF WHOEVER THIS IS TALKING ABOUT BERNER, Hes gone, Get over it!
Danno Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Haha some **** still has to go on about Berner and Dyer. God sake when are the idiots gonna realise that they're not wanted
Kent Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 The current caller wants us to play Bruno week-in week-out.
Collymore Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 This guy can't be mentally stable going on about Berner, His argument is about 12 months too old!
themotivator Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Max gradel wants to return... who said this? sorry if it's just some nutter calling in.
Collymore Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Do you know what, these people are dangerous - That fool has just said we have had a £1m bid for Whittingham accepted and his source was a texter! Do they realise that people actually tune in for QUALITY information?
Babylon Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Birch said it :L Is that all he said? Just blurted it out without any other information?
Kent Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Is that all he said? Just blurted it out without any other information? I think it was mentioned in a text and Birch said that at the end of last season he had heard that Gradel said he "would be happy to come back" not "wants to" or anything else. Birch gave off the impression that he had heard that if we ever went in for him that he wouldn't turn it down rather than he's looking for a move.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 27 June 2011 Posted 27 June 2011 Alan Young and the Birch don't half talk a load of crap Because this is your average footballer?
