kevr1990 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Hi Guys, I write for Burnley blog No Nay Never. We've just signed Ben Mee, who obviously spent time on loan at Leicester last season, and I'm looking for an opinion piece on him. As he's not actually played for City, you were my next port of call. Would anybody be willing to write me a few hundred words on him - what type of player he is, how he fared with you, did you want him back etc? My email is [email protected] Thanks, Kevin Robinson
One Arm Babba Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Good player. I think Sven has decided to go down the more experienced route with Konchesky. I think A full season with Burnley will bring him on leaps and bounds
MrSpaM Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Oh **** Back on topic, you've got yourself a decent player, pretty much all our supporters rated him, he'll do well for you lot
Haydos Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 This been confirmed very recently? Would have liked him back here, good young defender with some promise. He can play at centre back or left back if required but I think the stumbling block with us bringing him back was the lack of first team football. Should do well in this division again this season.
leicesterisme Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 What!! Although we may well get Vitor now. (hopefully)
sdb Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Strong in the tackle, occasional lapses in concentration and a habit of giving away pens. He came on loads in his 3/4/5 months here and most wanted him back. A solid Championship defender imo.
Babylon Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 One of the few loans that most people would definitely have taken back on loan or permanent. In fact I think we were in for him, but because we signed a few centre halves he was worried about the game time he'd get. Had a torrid time in his first game and looked way out of his depth, giving away one maybe two penalties depending on how you viewed it. After that he started to settle down and looked comfortable at centre back or left back. He's not the tallest, but he put himself about a bit and way very popular. I have no doubt he'll be a success up there for you if you give him enough time to settle down in the team. Having said all of that, he was part of a quite shocking defence last year. They were decent individuals but didn't work together at all.
AmyLGK Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 I'm absolutely gutted! (I think I may have had a bit of a crush on him!)
SMX11 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Very promising centre half who can stand in at left back. Very good signing for you.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 You got a great player didnt like him when he first started but ended up chaning my mind
Kent Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Decent enough player but wouldn't say he would be a stand-out player for most top half Champ teams. If you have a particularly weak CB then a good replacement.
Guest ttfn Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 He can put in a tackle. I know that the modern fan is supposed to love tiki-taka and false 9's. But that tackle was one of the best moments for me of last season.
goose2010 Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 He can put in a tackle. video of last season for me! being a defender myself nothing better than seeing a BIG tackle like that! regarding Ben Mee great defender just seemed a bit nervous to begin with but settle in well!
HEGGSY Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Well that was a surprise..I'm gutted really wanted to see him back, he'll do well for you quality player considering his small amount of experience at this level
millzi Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Gave away 2 penalties on his debut for us, ever since then he turned it around and there wasn't many fans that wouldn't have welcomed him back with open arms this season. I hope he does well for you to be honest, good luck to him.
kevr1990 Posted 14 July 2011 Author Posted 14 July 2011 Sounds good guys. Didn't realise you were back in for him - sorry about pipping you to the post, but it's always good to hear positive stuff about a signing. Thanks! And what a tackle!

Someone (pretty sure it was Sven) said that it didn't look likely because Mee wanted regular game time which in light of our recent signings he probably wouldn't get. Fair enough I say, like I said before he's a decent enough CB.

Happy Fox Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 http://twitter.com/#!/Mee_36 And thanks for the best wishes from the #lcfc fans, much appreciated. You are welcome Mee, I hope you sign for us permanently when we are in the Prem
Frost Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Would of loved to see him back down here again. Great prospect if you ask me, should get more and more comfortable as the season goes on. He can cover at RB as well. He's not outstanding, but he could be at this level with a full season under his belt.
Callabinho Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 Solid no-nonsense defender, Lack of experience showed at times but as far as a debut season goes, not bad at all. He is a positive signing for you guys.
Marmite Posted 14 July 2011 Posted 14 July 2011 had a shocker in his 1st game and gave away a penalty and almost another one, came on leaps and bounds afterwards though, you got yourself a good player there Burnley fans
