Probably because the pitch was protected prior to kick-off once exposed to the elements it froze, not exactly rocket science.

Wwll then if its not rocket science te ref should have realised that and checked it earlier with the covers off.

The temperature in Ipswich was apparantly very low over night, but why would the ref take the consideration of fans into account by calling it off before. Both managers said it should have been off anyway befpre it started.

What! it wouldn't change instantly, by keeping the covers on there would always be a chance it would remain safe for a couple of hours he's a ref not a meteorological expert.

If he'd have called it off before it would probably have been too late to stop fans travelling, you should aim your complaint at Ipswich they've been in the top two tier leagues for long enough to have installed heating.

No I do blame Ipswich totally they should have undersoil heating and should get a fine for it, would soon get more games on, clubs like Ipswich who have been in the Premier recently should have it installed by now.

What I'm saying is that the ref checked the pitch two or three times before the game, its fine saying that he didnt know it would get worst, but I dont believe they ever take into account the fact the fans are already there wasting so much of their time and money, would just be nice if they were taken into thought.

Lots of other games were called of Saturday morning in conditions that werent as bad as they had in Ipswich so I dont think its much of an excuse.

Feelinga bit sorry for Mick McCarthy.... thought he battled well to keep wolves in the top flight. Sure losing to your rivals 5-1 will get some managers the sack. just think he did the best he could with the resources he has...

Middlesbrough offer fans free tickets for Ipswich rematch

Middlesbrough have offered to buy fans who travelled to the abandoned fixture at Ipswich Town tickets for the rearranged game on Tuesday, 27 March.

Ipswich have offered a 50% discount to supporters who attended the initial match, with Boro making up the additional cost for their 730 fans.

Supporters saw 37 minutes of football at Portman Road before referee Dean Whitestone called the game off.

The club are also considering running a free coach for those who travelled.

Boro chief operating officer Neil Bausor said: "This is a way of thanking the fans for their continued loyalty. Our travelling support this season has been absolutely magnificent.

"The manager and the players all very much appreciate the fantastic backing they give us and the considerable sacrifices they make in terms of their time and their hard-earned money in order to do so."

Despite the disappointment, manager Tony Mowbray backed Whitestone's decision to abandon the game.

"The referee's a young guy who had to make a tough call today," Mowbray told BBC Tees.

"We were here at 11 o'clock and the pitch was under the dome and seemed playable, but coming back at quarter to two we were able to walk along the touchline and I felt it was going to be difficult to play the game.

"We were here to play; I was conscious of trying not to emphasise that we wanted the game off.

"It would have been easy for me to stamp my feet and say we want it off because Ipswich people were aware we played extra-time on Wednesday night, and we had some pretty serious quality footballers unavailable.

"He's got the right decision in the end.

worrying thing is if the weather is like that next week, we're just down the road from Ipswich do Norwich have under soil heating.

No worries about the weather, I'd say it could push 10 by the weekend possibility of light rain.

Did anyone else see the Brighton fan who proposed at the Amex on SSN last night, wow she was a looker

What makes it worse was the fact that when her boyfriend said yes, even the Brighton fans booed lol

Blackpool fans -

Are Leicester out of contention now?

http://fansonline.ne....php?id=1031907

Love this bit...

Oh, and to respond to the o/p - they have never really been in contention this season have they? It's a very strong league, and you have to have better players than Leicester have to make a challenge. I can't think of any Leicester player that would get in our starting XI - not Beckford, Nugent, Schmeichel, Gallagher, Danns, Wellens, Dyer or Konchesky and definitely not St. Ledger, although 2 or 3 of those would be good enough for our squad - and I bet the fans of Wham, Saints, Brum, Cardiff and Reading might well say the same.

Beckford, Nugent and Schmeichel would get in to most teams in this league.

Danns, Konch and a few others too are easily good enough for a play off team too.

Anyone watching Reading v Burnley?

Ben Mee just made an absolutely superb block. Putting your head where it hurts as you'd say.

I'll never forget that tackle he did on Taraabt either.

Yeah, it was an outrageous block. Talk about putting your head on the line.
