NeilyBoy Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Woah woah woah: Both seem like a risky acquisition looking from a Bolton pov - think we're safe on that one.
Danno Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Bolton have just had their Korean Midfielder ruled out for 9 months with a broken leg.... i wouldnt be suprised if one of ours was on their radar to replace him... Wellens or Abe.... both might be keen to make the jump... Doesn't he play on the wing? Pretty sure Wellens + Abe don't..
Fox92 Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Like i said, it's amazing how people see everything differently! Thats why the game is good, everyone has a different opinion!

Walkers-Fox Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 I thought the starting line up against Real Madrid looked well balanced, however we were forced to play too deep by one of the best teams in the World. At the level of the Championship, we should be able to support Nugent better and I thought he ran his socks off. I'd like to see more of Danns and King playing off each other and IMO Vassell can't play left wing... Schmeichel Pelt Mills © Bamba Konchesky Vassell Abe Danns Wellens Gallagher Nugent Subs: Weale SSL King Dyer Waghorn

volpeazzurro Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 With what we've got at this moment in time: Scmeichal Peltier Mills © Bamba Koncheschy Vassell Abe Danns Gallagher Nugent Waghorn Subs: Weale Wellens 1 of either Johnson and Fernandez (should both be superb when fit) Howard Pantsil King: for me at this moment in time is not worthy of even a place on the bench. Yesterday, with the exception of one reasonable/part lucky run in from the right he contributed absoluely nothing like the latter half of last season. Can't keep picking him on the fact of early season goals which whilst good at the time was all he added, with a good striker to go alongside Nugent or an extended run for Waghorn who I believe will come good for us or someone else, we don't need him .Suggest we sell on, we have better midfielders now.
Guest ttfn Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 King: for me at this moment in time is not worthy of even a place on the bench. Just to take you up on your points about King. In the latter half of last season, King scored 7 goals - more than anyone else except Yakubu. From midfield. Yesterday, King did a lot of hard work in midfield, with Johnson off the pace and Abe tiring. On one occasion (after Danns ridiculous short corner routine broke down and Real countered), he charged 70 yards back to put pressure on the Real forward as he shot just wide. As for the run you refer to, it was lucky. But the cross at the end was top notch, and had somebody been willing to make the sort of runs that he does so regularly, there would have been an exceptional chance to score. In the 45 minutes he was on, the team as a whole barely had the ball. You might say that was partly due to King himself, and it was. But we were playing against Real Madrid. In the Championship he will win us match after match this season, as he has done in the past. And then you suggest that we should completely change formation to accommodate Waghorn, because you "believe he will come good". King has proven that he will come good given time, but you want to take him out and effectively replace him with Waghorn, who, barring a 3-month period between February and April 2010, has been mediocre at best in a City shirt. As I've said elsewhere, we don't have any other players who make the sort of runs he does. Nugent was totally isolated yesterday and that wasn't really the fault of the wide players. Nobody broke from midfield into the box in the entire first half. My team for Coventry: Schmeichel Peltier Bamba Mills Konchesky Fernandes (if fit, otherwise Abe) Danns King Gallagher Nugent Vassell subs: Weale, St Ledger, Wellens, Dyer, Howard.
maynefox Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Scmeichal Peltier, Mills, Bamba, Koncheschy Wellens (cap) King Danns Vassell Gallagher Nugent Subs: Weale St Ledger Pantsil Abe Fernandes Waghorn Howard For me, The back 5 should be kept the same, for consistency and they played well yesterday, Maybe Pelts is my only slight worry, but im sure ill be turned around when the season starts. I feel Abe should not start, why? well I think that he was average yesterday and communication can break down in the team, like with St.Ledger yesterday. Im not saying hes shite, but for now, until he proves himself I think we have better options on, and off the bench. an Impact subs to hold up the play when were winning by a goal in the 85th min??? Johnson looks like hes slacking in match fitness, so the new boy will come in, see what he is and bring him off the bench, to try and suppress our lead. I nearly chose Waggy instead of Vassell, In hindsight maybe I should and put Vassell on as an impact sub, again, to run ragged around Cov. But He did well yesterday for me. Danns had some good spells then some shockers. Nugent wins balls in the air, and he holds up the play well to allow the wingers to advance. Finally Howard, bring him on to sterr up some trouble at the end.
Lambert09 Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Schmeichel Peltier Mills © Bamba Konchesky Abe Danns King Vassell Gally Nugent But I can honestly say for the first time in years I would be happy with any squad Sven picks as I feel we have real depth in every area, our reserve team this year could play in this league and still finish above cov and derby
Tommy G Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Why did they bring the stupid 5 sub rule back anyway? Not going to help any club is it. Don't see the logic in it
sdb Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 The best looking XI's on here (on paper) unfortunatley lack any width. It's definitely an issue imo. I wonder if Pantsil will be used as a more advanced player? Would be strange but Peltier doesn't deserve to be dropped and Pantsil is too good not to play. Not that he'll be fit for next week anyway. My team for Cov: --------------Kasper Pelts-----Mills----Bamba----Konchesky ---------------Wellens---------------- --------Danns----King Vassell----------------Gally ------------Nugent The front 3 isn't up to the standard of the rest of the squad. We all know that. Abe unlucky to be dropped after yesterday but I think Wellens adds a steel and determination vital for away games. I wouldn't throw Fernandes, Pantsil or Johnson in, having played 45 mins of pre-season combined.

lcfcnoely Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 I don't understand why everyone would rather have peltier in the line up ahead of paintsil, fair enough the lad didn't play badly against Madrid but it is clear that paintsil is the better of the two.

I'm sure there were a few doubters after he signed from L1. Pantsil has played in the world cup quarter finals so will be a tough player force out of the team. more signs that we have a very strong squad.

Why didn't Pantsil play yesterday? I liked Peltier a lot and I'd keep him in. didn't I read that either Pantsil or Peltier can play both sides - if so I'd drop Konchesky. Johnson didn't look fit, so I'd wait until he is, probably play Wellens or Abe there. Or more likely Fernandes, Danns and King with Vassel, Nugent and the new striker up front.

LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Kasper Panstil - Bamba - Mills - Konchesky Danns - Wellens © - King Gallagher - Nugent - Vassell Cant decide on subs, going to be a difficult decision for Sven!
