ScouseFox Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Terrific, no France at the next world cup then! Or maybe not
Bert Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Not the easiest of groups, but one I expect us to win. Scotland and Wales will be fighting it out for bottom place in group A. .
MC Prussian Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Lucky draw... excited about the local derby against Albania? Tell you what - half of our team won't really know what side to choose. We might as well end up playing 6 vs. 16...
Super_horns Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Isn;t Capello leaving after the Euros next summer? Wondered because Steve Claridge on 5live was just waffling on about how Capello won't get the team to perform as well as they ough to come the time these games start.
I am Rod Hull Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Not the easiest of groups, but one I expect us to win. Scotland and Wales will be fighting it out for bottom place in group A. . I think Scotland will fancy that group.. But will fail..

Salieri Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Despite being hated by all and sundry, we've landed ourselves a decent draw there.
Father Ted Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Serbia, Croatia, Scotland and Wales all in the same group. MASSIVE!
Guest Bilo Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 England v San Marino should be fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7gFeufMbKU&feature=relmfu Or erm.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGdQvqbIexk&feature=related

Guest Bilo Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 0-0 draw at home for us then As their all time record reads like this: P105 W1 D3 L101 F17 A340 I'm going to stick my neck out and say even England can't fuck up their games against San Marino.
MC Prussian Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Hey Bilo, you want to talk embarrassing? Here's something embarrassing:
Bugg Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 As their all time record reads like this: F17 A340 I'm going to stick my neck out and say even England can't fuck up their games against San Marino. I am genuinely howling with laughter at that record at this moment in time.
Guest Bilo Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Hey Bilo, you want to talk embarrassing? Here's something embarrassing: I remember that game, absolutely ridiculous result. Hard to believe that team went on to be the only side to defeat Spain at the World Cup. Obviously we've had our own trials so to speak against Andorra under a certain Steve McClaren, but San Marino are a whole different level of bad to Luxembourg and Andorra. One win in their entire history, a friendly against Liechtenstein by the way, and that appalling record speaks for itself. They haven't even scored a goal since October 2008.
MC Prussian Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Bilo, don't tell me you're going for something even more embarrassing than losing to part-timers Luxembourg? Please?
Guest Bilo Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 I bloomin' hope not! Knowing England we won't be anywhere near matching the Polish and German results, I honestly don't think we're the kind of team to take anyone apart like that, but anything less than two five goal winning margins would be very disappointing. Just look at their all-time results! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_San_Marino_national_football_team_results
MC Prussian Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Oh wait, here's a little gem from 1990: Now take a look at the teams in Group C for the 2014 WC qualifiers...
Guest Bilo Posted 30 July 2011 Posted 30 July 2011 Oh wait, here's a little gem from 1990: Now take a look at the teams in Group C for the 2014 WC qualifiers... Not a bad start for a new international team to be fair. What's crazy is the fact that the Faroe Islands are a solid 91 places higher in the FIFA rankings than San Marino, joint worst team in the world with American Samoa. The same American Samoa who once lost 31-0 to Australia.
NeilyBoy Posted 31 July 2011 Author Posted 31 July 2011 Hey Bilo, you want to talk embarrassing? Here's something embarrassing: What's so embarrassing about that? Luxembourg are, to coin a phrase, MASSIVE.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Australia, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Thailand..............should qualify for next stage easy enough
shen Posted 31 July 2011 Posted 31 July 2011 Not a bad start for a new international team to be fair. What's crazy is the fact that the Faroe Islands are a solid 91 places higher in the FIFA rankings than San Marino, joint worst team in the world with American Samoa. The same American Samoa who once lost 31-0 to Australia. It is quite crazy how well the Faroes are doing. Obviously they get the odd Dane with Faroese family ties, but their pitch means they're probably the least desirable minnow to draw. As for San Marino being joint worst, you can kind of understand why they lose virtually every game against European opposition. However to be the worst team in the weakest footballing federation speaks volumes about how bad American Samoa are I'm sure San Marino would beat them handsomely. Once again proof that the FIFA rankings are a pile of garbage.
