Will1981 Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 With the new season about to start and most of our new signings have now arrived, I was wondering what formation you think we should play. 4.5.1/4.3.3 formation used for most of last season GoalkeeperRight-Back---Center-Back---Center-Back---Left-BackDefensive MidfielderCenter Mid---Center MidRight-Winger-----------------------------Left-WingerStriker 3.5.2/5.3.2 formation with Wing-Backs like we played under O'Neill GoalkeeperCenter-Back---Center-Back---Center-BackRight-Wingback------------------------------Left-WingbackCenter Mid---Center Mid---Center MidStriker---Striker 4.4.2 Classic formation GoalkeeperRight-Back---Center-Back---Center-Back---Left-BackRight Mid---Center Mid---Center Mid---Left MidStriker---Striker 4.4.2 Narrow Diamond (4.1.2.1.2) GoalkeeperRight-Back---Center-Back---Center-Back---Left-BackDefensive MidCenter Mid---Center MidAttacking MidStriker---Striker Other (Please State)
Charl91 Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Not gonna lie, I chose 4-1-2-1-2 simply because it's my favourite FIFA formation
Fox92 Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 'Other' I like 4-2-3-1, it offers a balance between defence and attack.
Itsthejoeker Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 4-3-3 The team played well with this last season, and it's Sven's preferred formation, so he's very experienced in coaching it.
Christoph Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 We played well with 4-3-3 and scored enough goals with only our defence that let us down, so I dont think theres much need in change, however I would really like to see how 3-5-2/5-3-2 could play out.
fleckneymike Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Bit pointless this. Sven has stated we are playing the same system as last season though he might switch to 442 mid game.
samjohnson Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 4-3-2-1 But for that to work, we need Sven's "20 goal-a-season striker"
ScouseFox Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Why can't Nugent be our 20 a season man? He got what, 15 was it last year? In a half decent, mid table Pompey side. Translate that kind of form and numbers into our side, who made the most chances in the league last year (I think), why can't he add a few more to that total?
andog Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 It's all about 4-1-2-1-2 with: SchmeichelPeltier Mills Bamba KoncheskyWellens/FernandesWellens/Fernandes DannsKingGallagher Nugent
Father Ted Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 4-2-3-1. We have no out and out striker at the moment so there is no way we can play 2 up top.
andog Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 4-2-3-1. We have no out and out striker at the moment so there is no way we can play 2 up top. Not true, Gallagher has always been an out and out striker, and if you ask him he'll tell you that's his preferred position. I think you'll find that's where he played when bagging the goals for Stoke and Plymouth. He's just always been played in midfield or out wide for Leicester.
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Not true, Gallagher has always been an out and out striker, and if you ask him he'll tell you that's his preferred position. I think you'll find that's where he played when with Stoke and Plymouth. He's just always been played in midfield or out wide for Leicester. Why didn't anyone mention this? There's 25 goals a season what are we worrying about, Paul Gallagher for lone striker. <_<
Chairman of the Bored Posted 1 August 2011 Posted 1 August 2011 Please, please, please Uncle Svenny, show some attacking ambition and stop the back four lumping it when they can't see a pass. Possession is nine tenths of the law and 100% of everything in football.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 4-3-3 is the way forward, 4-4-2 is used by less teams than it once was.
Fox92 Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 'Other' I like 4-2-3-1, it offers a balance between defence and attack. Currently, I'd go for (Bearing in mind this could change IF we signed a striker): Schmeichel Peltier -- Mills -- Bamba -- Konchesky Wellens -- Abe/King Dans -- King/Gallagher -- Vassell Nugent
LCFC_DAN Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 I think 4-2-3-1 would probaly be the best option , so at the moment with the squad we have , I would go for; Schmeichal Peltier Mills Bamba Konchesky Wellens Abe Danns King Gallagher Nugent
Bugg Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 Not true, Gallagher has always been an out and out striker, and if you ask him he'll tell you that's his preferred position. I think you'll find that's where he played when bagging the goals for Stoke and Plymouth. He's just always been played in midfield or out wide for Leicester. WRONG Gallagher played on the right wing when he was at Stoke (went to a few games that season.
foxes2011 Posted 2 August 2011 Posted 2 August 2011 i think we will use 4 3 3 (4 5 1) most of the time but may use others
