Fox92 Posted 4 October 2011 Posted 4 October 2011 How long before a club takes the league and FA to court and asks for the game to be replayed - or at the least sues them for allowing the ref to make such an appalling error of judgement? Thing is, an error of judgement by the referee is fine, and I accept it even if it proven to be the wrong decision, because we are all human and the referee has to make a decision within a few seconds that can have an affect the rest of the game. However, what I can't really accept is when referee's are not working at a consistant level. Take Saturday's Everton v Liverpool game for example. The referee sent off Rodwell for something that could hardly warrant a yellow card, yet there were several incidents during the game that were far worse and went unpunished, such as, Tony Hibbert's tackle on Charlie Adam. I know being a referee is a hard job. Making decisions that effect thousands of human beings cannot be easy, but all we ask for is a level of consistancy. That is all. I think that when referee's have been inconsistant, the FA should look into it and fine the referee or something, like players are fined and even banned in some cases. Dropping the referee down a division for a week doesn't really make a difference, as he could make the same mistake in another game. However, I do think, if the referee has been inconsistant, asking the match to be played again is very harse on the team that won - the same poor decision could be made in the same match if this did happen, and so on. Then what? Reply the match until the teams involved come to an agreement that the referee was good? I did feel sorry for Rodwell, Moyes, Everton and their fans, but these things will happen because the referee is only human, like all of us.
ScouseFox Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 United's allocation for today's game was cut from just over 3k to 2k due to the council's demands, as in previous seasons they've had too many supporters in the aisles. Joke.
StanSP Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Bit boring really. Best club derby in the world, Fergie? **** that.
The Doctor Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Bit boring really. Best club derby in the world, Fergie? **** that. Not even the best club derby in Britain. Not much matchs up to Boca v River Plate or Fener v Galatasary.
lcfcadam Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Does Ray Wilkins actually know the rules of football? That handball was clear as day and should have been a penalty.
Jimothy Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Does Ray Wilkins actually know the rules of football? That handball was clear as day and should have been a penalty. Evans' hands were down by his side though, not up or out in an unnatural position, so surely it was ball to hand not hand to ball
ScouseFox Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Goal, Gerrard free kick. Firstly, one of the best dives i've ever seen, never a foul. Secondly, Giggs moved out of the way of the ball when he was in the wall, the muppet.
MikeyT Posted 15 October 2011 Author Posted 15 October 2011 Liverpool 1-0 Man United Gerrard Freekick. Good strike.
Jace Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Ryan Giggs adds his name to the list of welshmen having a bad day after that free kick
purpleronnie Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Ryan Giggs adds his name to the list of welshmen having a bad day after that free kick Hopefully things will liven up.
lcfcadam Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Evans' hands were down by his side though, not up or out in an unnatural position, so surely it was ball to hand not hand to ball There was enough time between the ball leaving Kuyt's head and it hitting Evans for him to make sure his arm was out the way though, that's how I see it anyway.
purpleronnie Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 The games you look forward to the most are almost always an anti-climax.
Corky Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 The games you look forward to the most are almost always an anti-climax. The game last year was pretty entertaining, both sides cancelled each other out today.
AyewJoking Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Listened to Villa fans moaning on the radio about how Man City have got more money than them and they cant compete. They should worry about surviving in the Premier League before bitching how the top 5 have all the money.
StanSP Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 They'll be fine. There's many teams worse off than them - Blackburn, Wigan, Bolton to name but 3 - who'll go downhill before Villa, if they do. And aren't Villa quite loaded anyway - more so than other teams? They're standing on a very weak leg to support them. I know they want to cut on the wage-bill, but that's more of a future safety thing as opposed to not being able to afford anything right now.

I think this is the season Wigan finally go down.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Agree with you about Wigan Bert. Can see Blackburn and Wigan going down for sure.
StanSP Posted 15 October 2011 Posted 15 October 2011 Yup. Quite fancy them for a top 10 finish. I think this is the season Wigan finally go down. Me too. I can't remember what I predicted pre-season for Villa, but given the way they've started this season, I can't see them struggling at all. I hope they finish highly, anyway.
