So we have a (approx) £5 million defender sitting on the bench yet we wont budge on a striker like Maynard that could be the difference between promotion and not. Makes no sense. 4-4-****ing-2.

How many people on here pre match said they were happy that mills had been dropped! I've read some shite on here recently but that's about the best. You don't drop your club captain Sven you silly man, you stick by him, get him straight back in the team and motivate him to pull his fookin socks up! Utterly ridiculous decision which could lead to further unrest in the dressing room

Shocking management

The fact it's early still may not be enough to save us... The top 2 rarely lose many more than about 5 or 6 games over the whole season. Add that to the fact that a couple if teams will prob go on to win 8 or 9 out of 10 and we could be leaving too big a gap like last season.

The fact we've had to buy a whole new team isn't helping but then as i said we'd have been better off buying 3 or 4 players last season & using it as a transition so we could sign just 4 or so players in the summer. Signing about 10 loan players followed by 10 signings is a recipe for a Martin Allen/Ian Holloway too many signings disaster especially as there has been a complete overhaul of the 'tactics' not that any have been on display so far.

The next 2 games will set our stall out, win them & confidence will breed more wins, but lose them & this has got Sousa written all over it, except the stakes are even higher.

Not strictly true, QPR and Newcastle were exceptions to the rule. Reading lost just the 2 in the 2005-2006 season, but that season broke pretty much all records.

2008-2009 Wolves lost 10 games.

2007-2008 WBA lost 11 games.

2006-2007 Sunderland lost 12 games.

2004-2005 Sunderland lost 10 games.

The rest of the post I totally agree with however, we need to start winning and start soon; very soon. If we don't win at least one of the next two, we are in serious trouble in my opinion.

I wouldnt mind if we were moaning about us not being able to score tonight and the game ended 0-0. But this is same old not being able to defend inspite of having a supposedly better quality of defender.

Good strike from Nugent at least, SSL pretty much lost us the game, although we didn't really deserve any points considering how bad we are.

I fear that we are fast becoming a laughing stock...

Club captain left on the bench and another performance devoid of any real clue.

The players look VERY nervous and it looks like the massive expectation pre season has got to them.

Sven sticks with one up top and I don't think this is working.

With time and more importantly confidence, it could gel but I have this nasty feeling that something is fundamentally lacking.

I still think that the signings we have made are good for this level and have performed well at other clubs. But we don't look a team, just a poorly assembled group of individuals. I go into the game with the trees with little confidence we will win.

Ridiculous really.

Sven never had it, this is another Peter Taylor situation where mass pre-season hysteria has been whipped up and cash has been flashed around willy nilly without any thought. This is a guy who had England's best players at his disposal and h e did nothing with them. What makes people think he could do anything with us? Is this really a surprise to anyone? When was the last time Sven achieved anything as a manager? He is the worlds greatest PR man; a trickster, conman, fraud - he knows nothing of motivation or how to get out of this league. Still no system, still trying to please every player, still trying to be Mr Nice Guy. He's no good. Time to wake up.

Sorry, But you can't compare Sven to Peter Taylor. In all fairness a dog turd can not be compared to Peter Taylor.

I concur.

When Sven was England manager he was gifted with a solid defence, and his tactics were to not concede due to his solid defence and then blindly hope that one of the star midfielders or attackers would create a goal.

Here, he has attempted to create a solid defence by throwing money at it and hoping that he gets players good enough to sort things out for themselves. He then hopes someone, somewhere in the team will provide a random spark to score a goal and win the game.

The problem is, the defence is shit without coaching and tactical management, and we don't have any particularly creative players to provide a spark going forward.

Basically what we're lacking right now is a real manager. Someone who can organise a team and get them playing to their strengths. Someone who can dissect opposition tactics and develop winning strategies.

What we have is a gimmick. A caricature of a manager. A man who relies solely on the tactical and organisational knowledge of his coaches and the players themselves, for he himself, is utterly clueless.

There's nothing anyone but SSL could do about making that mistake. You can't let it overshadow the lack of any real goalscoring threat. Had we made any real attempt to dominate upfront we might start to see a few more clean sheets.

I wasn't, I was merely comparing the fact that both managers sprouted pre season hype and spent lots of money

I said as soon as I got there if we leave mills out we will loose, low and behold I find paintsil is dropped also? I'm sorry but tonight was worse than sat, St.ledger was terrible what the hell him and peltier were doing for the second goal I'll never know, we were disorganised and had no real threat up front, Nugent ran his heart and gets my vote for MOTM. But what lost the game was the changes in the back four AGAIN! last year this was our downfall, our back four changed more times then I care to recall and he has done it again. Ok mills had a poor game but you can't just drop him lay into him and say he needs to show he is worth £5 mill, and as for paintsil what did he do wrong against reading?

Well Maynard lived up to his hype and I can tell you know he will be laughing all the way back to Bristol, and then all the way to Southampton!

I'm bitter now, I know it's 3 games in but 2/3 have been atrocious! First things first, Sven has stop pissing around with the back four, pick four lads and stick with them. We need more quality but after the last two performances will we get it? I will keep the faith and I still believe we have a chance, but as allways Leicester take you for a ride!

We were pretty poor first half and then when we came out for the 2nd half and we sounded up for it!!! Nugent scores a cracker and that was followed by chance after chance and the teams confidence was going up... Then diaster!! We give them a gift goal and again we sounded poor... My only concern is when we go behind we can't seem to break teams down using this system!! Sven has to sit down and use all of his experience to work out whats not working!!!

I think people need to calm down.

Its going to get worse before it gets better with Nottingham Forest(AWAY) and Southampton(HOME) to come.

We played some good football tonight however when it comes to the final third we don't know what to do with it. Nugent can't do it on his own upfront, he needs someone to partner him. Nugent is a intelligent player just needs someone to support him, for now possibly Vassell at Forest in a 4-4-2 formation. Gallagher and Dyer on the wings.

Another point from tonight we don't have one player who wants to run at the oppositions defence. St Ledger when ever he had the ball passed to him, instead of touching the ball 2,3 even 5 yards in front of him he knocked it to the side, always the side.

Wellens, when closing down Maynard for the free-kick was too slow the referee blew the whistle he had his head turned still talking to someone in the wall.

Referee was a ****. What is it with us and getting terrible referees?

Our fans need to chill out abit. Getting on the players backs straight away.

When we scored, Bristol City's confidence dropped majorly. Gallagher got put through on goal even had time to adjust to have a shot with his right foot however he shot with his left.

Heads up Leicester. Let's re group and get ready for Forest.

We've never won at the Ricoh we did this season. Never won at Rotherham, we did this season. Not won at Forest(in the league) since 19??, we'll turn it around saturday.

PS: we desperately need a winger and a striker.

All i will say is this...when Waghorn is on the pitch, please, please, please, please, please can he just keep away from all set pieces, as they invariably hit a wall or sky right over.

Just got back.

I hope the players learn that WHEN YOU PASS THE BALL BACK, IT IS A BAD THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :frusty: :frusty:

ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK!!!!!!!

Peltier was injured, when fit he brought him back in.

Konchesky & Bamba have played every game?

Only real change was Mills being dropped.

Dave Nugent is the only outfield player in a blue shirt to come out in any sort of glory after this game.

Only problem being he was trying to do everything because he is simply not getting ANY service.

It's hard to calm down when things are this bad.

This team is not even close to what we had last season, especially at home. We have no attacking options.

Pelter is absolutely useless at attacking, either he has no confidence or it's a tactic so we don't lose the ball? Well that worked a treat didn't it, no excuses for what St Ledger did today but it was Peltiers 86th backpass of the game that led to St Ledger messing up. Konchesky isn't much better, he makes more runs but seems to have no ability on the ball.

For all Yakubu, Kamara, Van Aanholt, and Bruma's faults they could play football. This team isn't getting into the playoffs, just look at the subs we thrown on to change the game, Waghorn is absolutely horrific and needs to go, he can't even hit the target in the warm up.

I haven't been impressed with any of the new players, apart from Nugent who's played his heart out on his own up front each game. Too many average players, not enough quality. What a waste of money.

Totally 100% agree. He MUST be amazing in training.

People need to chill out Sven isn't panicking so why are we . We have to trust him I'm not going to judge Sven on the last two games because he is an excellent manager we need to be patient we are still set to sign a few more players. Sven must be judged over a season with his own squad. It might not happen this season it might be next. Norwich got off to a terrible start last season and still went up. Maybe this is our bad run so it's good we are having it early doors we need stability at this club and some patience. Can't believe people are asking "how long Sven has got" ridiculous !

Posted

I really think there needs to be a health warning on Season ticket.

not at the races. we need someone to show some passion all game....a la Walshy Taggs etc.

feeling depressed as f**k after that tho. Still could be worse.
